The most important thing is that there's a difference bw Indian nationalism, which emphasizes individuality and western nationalism which emphasizes imperialism.

How can we build an Indic ecosystem in the west? Many Indians abroad are all well off and influential like sundar Pichai and Nadella and can start something to counter the western anti India narrative ,being closer and accessible to such places.

Patriotism is age old concept . Existed for 1000s of years. It's medieval. It exists at a level of village, your caste. Community, region etc.
Nationalism is also age old concept. This defines National geography and protects, develops this region. It's Nationalism that integrates a Kerala to a Kashmiri etc..
But Only few Castes, groups knew what Nationalism meant , esp Brahmins, Saints, Rishis etc.

Please write some papers and books. Try to enter and influence academia and eventually media. Get contacts of rich Indians both here and abroad who will support these causes monetarily. RW can have as many podcasts as we want, but we're fighting a losing battle in narrative building unless there's real work in hostile environments such as modern college campuses, news organizations, and school curriculum boards. When I start earning properly (I'm still doing my masters), I will start donating to proper RW writers and academics.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali explained the understanding, perplexed herself, of nationalism in Europe.
"Nobody snickered exactly, but they looked at me strangely. It wasn’t that I was black and claiming Dutchness; that was fine. It was because being Dutch meant absolutely nothing to these people. If anything, my Dutch friends seemed uncomfortable with the symbols of Dutchness: the flag and the monarchy. These things seemed to them to hark back to the treacherous days of the Second World War. They saw nationalism as almost the same thing as racism. Nobody seemed proud of being Dutch."
When you have an understanding that "nationalism = racism", obviously the idea will receive a monstrous push back - doesn't matter which country, which religion.

Our nationalism, at least the image of it that seems to be guiding the masses does exclude one ethnicity, viz, Muslims.
We need abhinav and the likes to give voice to a kind of nationalism which is assertive about its Hindu identity but also places checks against discrimination with Muslims, by voicing more articulately and in a detailed manner this idea.
Remember, even a Buddhist nation wasn't immune to human tribalism-aided atrocities against Muslims(rohingya).
So, "we are pluralistic" Hindus isn't enough as an argument.

    • @akshaysubramaniam8963
      @akshaysubramaniam8963 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hindu nationalism is not exclusive. That is is perceived to be so has nothing to do with Hindus and everything to do with the exclusivist and exceptionalist mentality and prejudices and frankly bigotry of those doing the perceiving.
Western European nations and the US, Canada, and Australia have a strong Judeo-Christian ethos that is largely indifferent to most other faiths and cultures, including the indigenous peoples in their own nations that they have largely erased. Yet you look up to them as models of liberal, inclusive societies where Muslims do live and thrive. For the most part they have no qualms assimilating into and adopting much of the ethos of those societies. So all this talk of feeling excluded is nothing but entitled nonsense and has everything to do with an Abrahamic disdain for Indic cultures and nothing to do with non-existent feelings of alienation or prejudice.
Every Muslim of India is an equal citizen of this country and is entitled to the same rights, respect, and dignity as any Hindu. However, this has nothing to do with the fundamental civilizational ethos and essence of this country, which is emphatically and unequivocally Hindu. If anything, Indian secularism is a direct result of fundamentally Hindu ethos - there is a reason non-Muslim populations in Muslim nations are invariably sidelined if not outright exterminated. Frankly the overwhelming majority of Muslims have no qualms in accepting this, after all we are descended from the same people. This is a non-issue for 99% of all Indians. This is the fundamental salience of India - otherwise what are we but a second-rate combination of Arabia and the West?
That a minority refuses to see this and chooses to interpret this as exclusivist or bigoted is their problem and not that of Hindus. Not unlike how some Islamists who live in the West continually and aggressively allege discrimination and oppression while partaking of every blessing that residence in such a society offers.

Indian freedom struggle is a Hindu movement. It's a shame that Muslims got to rule us again under Nehru govts education, cultural ministry for decades .
How did we even allow this ???
Muslims yes they did participate, but their contribution was minor, though it can't be ignored.
Major sacrifices were made by hindus .
Gandhi had to support khilafat movement, for the sole purpose of bringing Muslims into this struggle who 🔖weren't as forthcoming, energetic as hindus.
    🔖Muslim league isn't a Freedom movement.
🔖Muslims were cajoled by Sir Syed to support British rule and infact 🔖fight Hindus

I don't think it is accurate to say that all tribal revolts were mainly caused because of missionary activities in tribal areas. As far as I have read the main problem was because of the zamindari system, which made them labourers to non tribals in their own lands.

After the World War II meaning of nationalism has changed. Loyalty to a country is now called patriotism. Loyalty to particular group with no geographic loyalty but to a particular group of people, for example Jinnah's Muslim loyalty to a religion, is called nationalism. So usage of nationalism is used to describe loyalty to a particular group of people in a country in exclusion of others in the country. Aryan Nationalism in US is dedicated to supremacy of "Aryans" and exclusion of others from the political power. If Hindu Nationalism in India mirrors Islamic Nationalism then it is similar to German Nationalism of Hitler- I am actually saying that Islamic Nationalism of Pakistan is similar to German Nationalism of Hitler- and wants to exclude others from the political power in India. This kind of loyalty to section of people in country has acquired negative connotation since World War II. With respect to current usage of Patriotism vs Nationalism Kunal Mehra is right and Abhinava Prakash is wrong. Just like Indians wish westerners understand the word "Dharma" they should understand the usage of words in languages foreign to them.

Willy Brandt, ex-German chancellor once defined The difference between Nationalist & a Patriot.
Both a Patriot & a Nationalist love their motherland. The difference is a Patriot loves his motherland without disregard of other motherland. Whereas, a Nationalist loves his motherland too but has disregard for other land. In that sense, nationalism has negative connotation.
