Not to brag or anything but, got an ‘01 Tundra SR5 4.7L V8… just rolled 492K plus change and it’s tight as a drum and it still has lots and lots and lots of power. Cats are shot, have to run cleaner every once in awhile to pass smog in CCCPhornia but gets her done. Drove the front passenger wheel off a year ago, didn’t realize the ball joints were beyond dry. Only thing that broke was the break line, 48 hours later I was back on the road. Obviously the normal parts that go have gone, starter: once. Alternator: once. Master break cylinder: once. Replaced the timing belt like clockwork every 100k. Any problems I’ve had have been because I goofed not the vehicle. I keep her clean and the liquids in good shape! I’d love to try for a million but who knows what time will tell. 4th Toyota Truck in the family so it’s kind of a legacy thing. Won’t even think about other brands, just yet. Hi Scotty. I love your videos as well as your great advice. I have a 2003 Toyota Matrix XR bought in Aug 2002 (first year). It has 155,000 original miles and still runs like new. Been changing my oil every 3-4K miles, trans fluid every 8-12K miles, flush my brake and power brake systems every 6-9 months. About a year ago i noticed lifter noise so i used some Seafoam spray and added Lucas oil treatment (which i now use every oil change. Only things I’ve had to replace has been a starter, front struts, rear shock struts, ignition coils, and O2 sensors. I still get over 30 mpg on average. Engine is quiet and very stable (no missing). The body has a fgew dings but the paint is still like new as well. I wouldn’t trade this in for anything.
What would you like me to say. I also have a 2005 Tacoma TRD bought in April 2005. Has 74000 miles and has been maintained pretty much the same way as the Matrix. Only difference is i have had the transmission flushed twice (dealer) and flushed the rear end myself. Trans fluid is nasty stuff so i let someone else do it. The only repairs I’ve had to make included a new alternator, headlights (couldn’t get them clear anymore), ignition coils and O2 sensors. Still getting decent gas mileage (18 in town and 22-24 mpg on the highway. Body is in great shape except fora few dings and the paint is like new as i have garaged both Matrix and Tacoma since day one. Also detail them about once a year. These two vehicles are the best and most reliable vehicles I’ve ever owned.
I agree with Scotty Toyota’s engines and transmissions last forever but here in the salty winters of the Midwest all cars suspension parts take a toll. Toyota’s included so if you aren’t a mechanic you still have to spend a lot for repairs. Also exhaust, brakes, radiator parts, you name it. Wish I was a mechanic. Scotty you lucky rascal! 😎
FJ Cruisers have rust problems (especially in the rust belt) Scotty has mentioned this before, but not in this video. Some owners were so upset that they filed a class action lawsuit against Toyota. The case was dismissed.
Love Toyotas. The only bad thing I can say about the 4.7L V8 is that is uses a timing belt (I have in my 05 V8 4runner) which has to be changed every 100k miles. Look for a timing chain Toyota if buying new or used. Eliminates a lot of expense maintenance.
@@jeffbrenneman6882 it is a great motor. Mine however also had an emissions failure on top of the engine with cost $2300. Toyota extended the emissions warranty for the tundra with the 4.7L to 150k miles which would have covered mine but they did not cover the 4 runner which has that V8 for 2 years. :(. I am avoiding the timing belts going forward.
Love, love, love my 2014 Toyota RAV4! Everything works! Bought it used at approx 12,000 miles. Currect mileage 68,000+ Gas mileage terrific! Integrity of vehicle is super. Plenty of power. Hubby has a 2003 Toyota truck 4x4 Tundra. Lots of miles and still going strong.

The Toyota Yaris is very popular in Australia! Mighty Car Mods have built two of these and used them on the track. You can have fun, get good gas mileage and still have a completely reliable car.
Smart. 23 is the last year of that Generation and all problems and kinks have been solved if any.. Let everyone deal with buying the first year of new Generation in 24.
With 180K miles on the clock, dampers, bump-stops, top-mounts and suspension bushes will need replacing to bring the handling back into specification...
2007 is not old for a maintained Toyota. I was hunting for a 2010 or newer minivan and ended up owning a 1998 Gen1 no rust Sienna 165k runs like new and is mechanically diy kept and restored😂! No sane person would pay a mechanic for all my DIY upgrade work, or wax the underside of my hood. 😂🤪For 7yrs my Sienna has never let me down. Love your videos Scotty. I bought a Corolla SE and I love it. I had an old Corolla before that and I drove the wheels of it with no repairs! But I dump the oil every 3K miles in my cars. I dump the battery after 2 years because they don't last very long in the desert...
@@durango8882 I absolutely love mine. 2003 Limited with 178,000. I bought the truck a year and half ago, after months of looking. I plan of keeping it for years.
I just drove my buddies Toyota forerunner compared to my Chevy Colorado. They both have the same mileage and they’re the same years and everything in his Toyota is falling apart and my little Chevy Colorado looking great.
Rare case. What's the backstory on each? Bought used? Previous and current location in country(Midwest, south, east coast etc)? Garage kept? Oil change intervals? Personal habits of each driver? (Some people are harder on brakes, cornering, stomping the gas pedal, not current on maintenance schedule etc)? Lots of left out info.
I wish I could get that Yaris in Jamaica. I simply love the 1NZ engine. Easy to maintain and is a workhorse for low to middle income earners like myself.
Toyotas are good vehicles, no doubt. My only beef with them is that I yet have to sit in one that's made for tall people. The seat to pedal configuration always seems to be made for people 5 foot 8 or shorter.
@@ErichH68 Never driven one of those, but all the 4Runners etc. I've driven always have that odd seat to pedal position. Maybe they changed that over the years, but I'll probably never buy a Toyota, I'm perfectly fine with my old gas guzzler.
So Toyota it is!? Currently looking for another car. I like the look of the Honda CRV but I may need to look for toyota models. Any suggestions? I got a little one too.
My problem with these Toyotas is that everyone knows they are good so they go for double or more of what comparable cheap used cars go for. I’d rather do some research and find a reliable model from another manufacturer for half the price
I still don't understand why people call CD/DVDs old school because they are still uesd all the time I mean come on you can rent a DVD from redbox or the library and you can buy dvd players what's old school is record players and tossing an antana on the roof that's old school
okay i always thought scotty was honest until he started trying to rewrite history on that yaris. sleeper car? because it has TRD radiator cap and k&n filter 🤣
Do understand on why many older people have this logic. But its not the 1980s no more, when Toyota started becoming popular in America back in 1980s. And many of these great American old people are long gone now. Specially the WW2 generation. One of many of uncles and great uncles I had that passed away he served in WW2. And he even bought a Toyota back in 1980s, which flipped many people out. So many people out there still have the mind set that Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and they are taking it out on bad mouthing Toyota. And most people now days were not even alive or around back then. I am a Veteran myself. But speaking for myself. And if Afghanistan or Iraq starts making cars or trucks and if they make a great built car or truck like Toyota I will even consider to buy 1 of them.
I really like these type of compilation videos that show the high quality used cars...of course they happen to be Toyota because Toyota does make the best longest lasting vehicles. Thanks Scotty!

If you own one of those fj cruisers up north in the salt the frame will rot out from underneath the thing.
Love how every time Scotty laughs a different animal that looks like it’s laughing pops up in the corner of the screen. Hysterical 😂
Operative words pretty much works.
The Toyota Yaris is very popular in Australia! Mighty Car Mods have built two of these and used them on the track. You can have fun, get good gas mileage and still have a completely reliable car.
The yaris is also pretty popular "entry range" here in South east asia. Although we do get different yaris/vios here over here
Same here in the UK. I got a 2015 1.3L with CVT.....it's great! 58mpg.
Isn't the Yaris a Mazda?
@@shiftmotorsports9803 the later ones
Scotty is the Man! Thank you for looking out for your people who can’t afford getting ripped off!
Picking up my 2023 Camry TRD in 2 weeks. Can't wait. First Toyota.
Smart. 23 is the last year of that Generation and all problems and kinks have been solved if any.. Let everyone deal with buying the first year of new Generation in 24.
Yes Scotty! I love my Toyota Tundra crewmax limited 💪 on my way to the million miles Tundra club ❤️
If I paint the faded lids, Haggerty will give me an insured appraised value from $9k-$11k. It's my Gump van. Now that I went this far, I might as well keep going! I always go all the way! Never ever half way or half asked.
Look forward to all your videos here in the UK Scotty.
Try to find a KIA with the same age and milage that runs like this Toyota. Good luck chuck😅
I have a 2004 4-Runner. My son still drives it.
Own an 1996 80 series. Paid 12500.00 in 2006. Maintenance under 2000.00 in 15 yrs of ownership and 200000 miles. Only Tesla has a chance at this level of Quality and Value not even Toyota anymore due to environmental regulation on ice vehicles.
Personal experience
I just sold this exact model and year for a 2015 trd off road tacoma 4x4. I miss all that extra space but I've always wanted a toyota pickup
Wow, I love it when Scotty said, the person drive the car not gently and the manual transmission has lasted without any issues.
When I grow up I want to be just like Scotty! 😅
Memes while your talking and all!
Repeating yourself all the time and thinking the government's trying to control you, waggling your arms so the straight jacket won't go on .really?
Remember, "growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional." Saw that on a t shirt recently. Now *THAT'S FUNNY* ! 😲😲😲
Yaris is a toyota badged Mazda
Dang that seqoia engine is CLEAN! Wow. Someone spruced it up good
I bought one with 240k a vvti 05 for 3.7k last weekend. Pretty happy with it so far, timing belt was done 10k miles ago
Toyota shoulda invited Scotty to Japan years ago! Damn.
Most honest guy great videos
We daily a '98 Toyota landcruiser that now has 306k on completely original drive train, it still runs like new and doesnt consume oil. We take it off-roading and tow our camper with it often and it never misses a beat... phenomenal vehicle.
Trading in my Sorento for a Highlander I should’ve listened my Sorento sucks 55k Miles and already needed an engine replacement .
How does that work? Is it under warranty your going to have them fix it...then sale it back to them, for whatever they're willing to give to you.
Love your videos Scotty. I bought a Corolla SE and I love it. I had an old Corolla before that and I drove the wheels of it with no repairs! But I dump the oil every 3K miles in my cars. I dump the battery after 2 years because they don't last very long in the desert...
I have a Yaris here in the UK, a 1.3L with CVT and it's brilliant! 58mpg best & 40 worst. Fits 3 in the back with ease,
Isn't the Yaris a Mazda?
3 two year olds.
Must of just found this video on an old hard drive since it was recorded at his old house
I understand Toyota still makes the FJ for overseas markets.
Ever since I switched over to Toyota, i've never had a single breakdown. That was back in 2015.
02' Sequoia with 270K, and burns no oil, and runs excellent.
Enjoy these Toyota videos! Great information, as always!
That Sequoia looks like my Tundra, Walter. Same color, interior looks the same, mostly. Being a 2003, there are a few differences, but not many.
I have 04 Tundra SR5
@@durango8882 I absolutely love mine. 2003 Limited with 178,000. I bought the truck a year and half ago, after months of looking. I plan of keeping it for years.
I just drove my buddies Toyota forerunner compared to my Chevy Colorado. They both have the same mileage and they’re the same years and everything in his Toyota is falling apart and my little Chevy Colorado looking great.
Lmfao
My wife has one we love it
Scotty Kilmer was the baby formula I was brought up on!
Changed the starter in my 98 corolla last year. Was surprised to find it was the original one that came with the car. Toyota really is the best.
FJ is only Toyota that has 3 front windshield wipers!
Scotty wish you would do my truck.
2002 Tacoma 2.7l 405,105. Original motor and transmission.
I took colace with senna last night , many poops later , no longer full-of-crap.
I’m 6 feet one and I’m comfortable in a Toyota Yaris hatchback driving so….??!
@@ErichH68 Never driven one of those, but all the 4Runners etc. I've driven always have that odd seat to pedal position. Maybe they changed that over the years, but I'll probably never buy a Toyota, I'm perfectly fine with my old gas guzzler.
I'm just happy Scotty's not mad as hell.
toyota is the best way to get from a to b
So Toyota it is!? Currently looking for another car. I like the look of the Honda CRV but I may need to look for toyota models. Any suggestions? I got a little one too.
5 million people are watching nice thanks for sharing
My problem with these Toyotas is that everyone knows they are good so they go for double or more of what comparable cheap used cars go for. I’d rather do some research and find a reliable model from another manufacturer for half the price
Good video, interesting that it's from before he moved to Tennessee. I wonder if it just got lost in the hard drive and he just now found it.
No the Landcruiser 200 series was the top-of-the-line at the time as far as Toyota goes as far as their SUVs go and then the lx4 the Lexus
What year was that Toyota Yaris se you checked out? I think I would like to buy one. I'm looking for a new car.
Well SURE it's snazzy. My Toyotas at '91 and 2000 year models!
Scotty’s never wrong ❤️
Please review the ring dash cam
Question: Why don’t they make the driver seat more durable than the passenger’s?
Too bad Toyota stopped selling the Yaris in the USA. It would of been the only new car for $20K.
I still don't understand why people call CD/DVDs old school because they are still uesd all the time I mean come on you can rent a DVD from redbox or the library and you can buy dvd players what's old school is record players and tossing an antana on the roof that's old school
I mean you tell us "good bye farewell and how to make our air conditioner literally -273 Kelvin.."
okay i always thought scotty was honest until he started trying to rewrite history on that yaris. sleeper car? because it has TRD radiator cap and k&n filter 🤣
think he said trd suspensión and im sure its light weight but yeah its just a yaris lol
If that were a Mercedes or BMW there'd be so many trouble codes.
The 2uz engine is a work horse. It makes all its power at low rpm which keeps the transmission from searching for gears and driving nice.
Honestly toyota should give him a new vehicle every year
Thank you for the information Scotty, I definitely need 1-2 of these.
have a 1st gen tundra and sequioa hands down best toyotas ever made in my opinion, only reason why i have other toyotas is because of gas milage.
Why would they make it rwd...
Toyota should bring back the FJ Cruisers
It's only 17 years old. Things start to fall apart after 20 years.
Why is there rust in the engine department
The yaris review makes me wonder if Kilmer knows how to drive stick. 🤔
Cost of oil is going to drop?
I really like these type of compilation videos that show the high quality used cars...of course they happen to be Toyota because Toyota does make the best longest lasting vehicles.
Thanks Scotty!
