      @@Alex-yj9xl 've upgraded to a Honda Accord Ex-L 2012, back in Oct 2020. Had to change my lifestyle due to having a Family now.. If you want a very reliable gas efficient vehicle that won't cost you much money, then the Mitsubishi Mirage will costs you about $20 bucks to fill up and will go over 500kms on a full tank. It does 47 Miles per gallon Highway Driving. UIf you are student on a fixed budget, this car is great! Make sure you get the one with Air conditioner. Try and buy one that's used with very low mileage, and make sure you look at the Car Service history. Doing your homework is also key to making the right decision.

    It's a 1.3l and a 3 cylinder and a 10 yr power train warranty. No body can beat this. If I wanted something more bigger I'd be paying 5x more than what I'd be paying..... I could get a 2020 mirage es with 8000km for 13000. Something that can save money and gas is a win win situation in my pocket book

    Here is the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly on the Mitsubishi Mirage (aka Mitsubishi Space Star, aka Mitsubishi Attrage, aka Dodge Attitude (in Mexico)):
    1. The reviewer never mentioned (maybe I missed it) if he was driving the hatchback or the G4 sedan version. I have the 2019 G4 sedan, I think he does too by the looks of it. The hatchback has a smaller wheel base. The 4 door sedan has a longer wheelbase, which translates to much more leg room in the sedan. I wasn't crazy about the sedan.... the hatchback is the one I wanted, I love having a rear wiper to see out the back during rain or snow. I'm 6'0", my 12 year old son is 5'6", there is no way we would fit into the hatchback, we tried, we ended up with the sedan, lots of room for taller people.
    2. This is a very cheap (in terms of initial cost) vehicle, mine was $13,700 + NJ state sales tax + dealer fees, I put down $3600 and the payments are $209/month for 5 years, if I don't end up paying it off sooner, I need to establish a payment history so it's in my best interest to make the monthly payment on time for some time.
    3. The vehicle comes with probably the smallest production engine you can get on a car right now in the United States, I think the Tata Nano has like a 2 cylinder engine which makes the Mirage look like a beast. Acceleration is abysmal. 0-60 time is... Eventually. It's a 3 cylinder engine putting out a maximum of 78hp. Don't buy the car if you want quick acceleration or if you're always in a hurry. This is a great car for pizza delivery, Grub Hub, Uber Eats, even just Uber or Lyft, best fuel economy outside of a hybrid, and without the price tag.
    4. The "ECO Mode" he's talking about is sort of always on, it's the default driving mode. You can't shut it off, there is no button. The engineers assumed that you always want to save gas. That's why you buy this vehicle, to save gas and money, not to impress anyone. You can shift into Sport mode on the shift lever, what it does is, the computer will modulate the pulleys in the CVT (continuously variable transmission) in such a way as to make it feel that you're holding onto a lower gear for longer, to give it a more sporty driving feel. Of course this is a CVT, there are no gears, save for maybe a launch gear, and it turns the car very noisy, you might want to keep it out of Sport mode if you value your hearing.
    5. This car is not for beginner drivers, I've said this many times on other channels. You have to know what you're doing when you drive this car, you need experience. I've been driving in NJ-NY-CT-PA for over 20 years, also includes truck driving, so I'm OK, I know how to plan my launches and my stops, a beginning driver may not.
    6. The brakes are decent for normal driving but here in Jersey, with the stop and go driving on route 1 in central Jersey, those suckers heat up really fast and you can smell the brake material heating up, it feels like the brakes are going to catch fire. The fix to this is aftermarket brakes and up the brake fluid boiling point, not sure if it's a DOT3 system but upgrading to DOT4 is something I'm considering doing if it's not already. After DOT4 there's a 5.1 believe but the entire system has to be flushed out, DOT3/4 don't mix with 5.1, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
    7. Unlike other cars with Jatco (Nissan) CVTs, the life expectancy of the Jatco CVT in this particular application is expected to be above average due to the fact that the engine is so underpowered, it can't do much damage to the CVT in terms of pushing it too hard and making it overheat. Would I buy a CVT in an SUV? Heck no. There's a reason CVTs aren't in pickup trucks, and probably never will be, they're just not strong enough. In a small, light, underpowered car like a Mirage a CVT should do just fine with regular maintenance to the fluid and filters. In an SUV or larger, aside from a manual transmission, you'd want a conventional transmission with physical gears if you need an automatic.

      Appericate what you wrote thanks! my parents will may get this car, we have a Mazda cx9 2011 and we DON'T need an SUV really. We want to save fuel and something which is realible ;-;

    I rented one for a week when I visited NY last month. It was an interesting albeit limited vehicle. I managed to log 700 miles on it in that one week. I got a lot out of the little bugger and it wasn't all that uncomfortable for long distances. Once up to speed it was alright, I managed to hit 100 mph once on a freeway where everybody was pretty much driving that anyway.

    OMG, this was an exceptionally painful review. I’d like to address this so called acceleration issue. I drive 190 miles a day, most of it on the interstate. I have never, never, been put in a situation where I felt like I couldn’t pass someone or effectively merge into traffic on the interstate. No, it’s not a fast vehicle but, it most certainly isn’t as though it can’t get out of its own way either. Now, if you’re expecting to be sitting at a complete stop & you see a vehicle a block or two away & they’re traveling at a high rate of speed (say 65-70 mph) and you think you’re gonna pull out in front of them and tromp on it, three things are going to happen: 1) You’re NOT going to accelerate like a V6 or an 8 & probably be sorely disappointed... period! 2) You’re going to risk getting into and accident & really pissing the other driver off! And finally, 3) You’re going to get the award for Asshole Driver of the Month. The only intelligent response to this issue falls under “defensive driving,” or in some people’s case, a lack there of. This is so childish, it’s pathetic. If I run this vehicle all the way out of gas & push 9.5 gallons of gas into it, I can routinely average almost 47 mpg in my combined interstate (80%) & around town (20%) commute. Why would you NOT WANT to get 46+ mpg?!!!! Does the ability to pull up to the stop light & say “Race you for titles!” really bring inner peace to grown adults? How sophomoric.

      How is the reliability for the new mirage models?

    • @adriangoede7433
      @adriangoede7433 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Well, as my 2019 currently only has 17k on it, I can’t comment from personal experience. However, I’ve read a few blogs out there with people claiming in excess of 200k. In addition, I’ve read that the engines are well respected for reliability in markets where it’s been in service longer than in the states. But, probably the thing that got my attention most was the appearance of videos showing these little machines being Rally raced all over Southeast Asia. I mean to hear the way they rap out these little engines is incredible. The Metro/Swift was the same way. So many in the media slammed these vehicles, especially the Metro with its 1.0 liter three banger but, look around TH-cam for videos of people trying to blow up one of those engines. They are absolutely bulletproof & those cars have a cult following today. I can also testify to their durability from personal experience, having owned three myself. That was a long answer to a short question... my feelings are that if you don’t beat the snot out of it, run synthetic & follow the allotted maintenance schedule, you can easily get 200k out of it. I’m gonna shoot for 300k.

      @@adriangoede7433 thats incredible mileage if it can do that from a 1.2 three cylinder engine. Im 51, had nearly thirty cars since I passed my test, all sorts of stuff with high power, low power but all fun at the time. I like to keep a clean license, I work in the motor trade and I don't take risks. Its simply not worth it. Here in the UK there is an obsession with torque, and so many drivers are really damn impatient. They get pissed off if you do 2 mile an hour under the limit. No need for it is there. This Mirage seems a good choice for me, I need something cheap but fun with good warranty as I want to get somewhere to live next year, save a few quid. I nearly went for the Shogun Sport, yeah you read that right haha but I will have to wait for one of those. Mitsubishi are pulling out of the UK soon, but the company is still going strong. I think Ssangyong will take over the service, sales etc from what ive read. Mitsubishi seem very reliable cars, thats the main thing for me.

    • @adriangoede7433
      @adriangoede7433 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@oddities-whatnot That’s sad news about Mitsubishi pulling out of your market. I hadn’t heard that. Well as I’ve mentioned before regarding Suzuki products, they’re bullet proof, cheap to maintain & for the most part, cheap to fix when the time comes. And if your local scrapper doesn’t have the parts, with the advent of eBay & others, you can likely find what you need online. Shoot, I have a Yinxiang motorcycle that was sold in the States through Roketa & I get parts from AB Moto in Latvia! It may take a little longer but, if you are patient, you can find what you’re looking for. Best of luck to you in your search for the right vehicle, whatever it may be.
