Hiya! I also live in Northern Minnesota! In the Island Lake area. I’ve found a lot really neat rocks in our fenced in yard that look a lot like some of these. My wife found your channel, we’ve just got into rock tumbling! We had a dull first go, haven’t tried since then. So we’re just doing the learning now and try it out once we got all the materials, and have found our motivation. 👀 Thanks for tips/tricks! 🙌🏼
Wow. You should get that lock checked out by a marine archeologist. Might be something there. Who knows, maybe you stumbled upon relics from an old shipwreck. Perhaps that was attached to a treasure chest at some point in time 🤔 😳 lol
I think that's called a 'pancake' padlock. You can see nearly identical examples(cast iron Imperial like yours) on Worthpoint. Still couldn't get a fix on how old ... but I'd wager nearly a century. Nice finds...you guys up there have some nice rocks...glaciers weren't as kind to us.
@@AgateAriel While it's impossible to say exact years " Near a century" is close enough. Woudn't be a bad spot to take a metal detector out to! The giant nails would be railroad related,, and the fossil is Fossilized coral. There is a type of that coral called Honeycomb Coral, and I look for that stuff anytime I see a new pile of river rock.
Thank you so much for watching! Make sure to like and subscribe to this channel-it helps so much!
that w❤ierd unusual stone you found is worth at least 5000 dollars keep it it is a meteor😂
I love your channel Ariel! How have you become so knowledgeable about MN rocks?
Good question! Watching others, MN rocks and mineral books (linked on my Amazon store front), and lots of practice!
Timestamp 3:48 that is a banded flint nodule ... we have oodles of them here in eastern kentucky.
Cool, thanks for letting us know. 😃👍🏻🪨⛏️
Awesome thank you I wasn’t sure!! Such a beautiful find!!
Love to see your husband getting into the hunt. Another good video, thanks.
Thank you! He does like to hunt too just doesn’t like to be on camera as much! Haha

Can you tumble petrified wood? :3
That "bone" you found 0:50 might have been a piece of an arrowhead 🤷♂️
