Agate Hunting on Hidden Islands

  • Join me as we rockhound for agates on several small islands around lake Minnetonka! We found agates, chalcedony, jasper, smokey quartz, agatized petrified wood, and more! The craziest part happens at the end when I find the most beautiful agate I have found to date in a place I did not expect!
One thing I love about rockhounding is you never know what you’re going to find! Another cool find was a piece of petrified wood, that upon closer inspection, had agate inclusions! Such a cool and unique find that is one of my favorite pieces!
If you notice a smokey haze in my video, it is from the Canada wildfires. The smoke has now mostly cleared from Minnesota, but it was/is a sad disaster that Canada is experiencing.
Thank you so much for watching and if you like this video please give it a like and consider subscribing to my channel for more rockhounding adventures!
    Happy hounding!

Those are some amazing agates, the petrified wood was an insane find! It looks like real wood. The detail on it is 🔥🔥🔥🔥. The zoom-ins on the first finds were a cool effect. Loved it. Unbelievable red agate you find in the landscaping rocks. 💯💯

I think you get a lot of rust color quartz in Minnesota because of the acidity and tannin staining of the water (I used to live in Michigan). If you cut into them the stain doesn't run very deep but they sure look nice and orangy when you pick them up. We don't see that much here in Wyoming.

Yes I have definitely noticed that! I love the unique features of rocks from different areas! Do you do a lot of rockhounding in Wyoming?

Thank you so much! That’s a great idea to cut the agate at 12:08! I’m currently getting a small pile together of rocks to cut and then plan to rent a tile saw!
