Don't forget to put the plug in!!! LOL The little tractor wheels were a great idea. Dry docking the boat also keeps is safe from storms. When I lived in northern BC, a popular way to keep skiffs (small runabouts) out of the water was an inclined wooden ramp, and all you had to do was drive the boat up onto it. To launch, just push it off. Works for small boats but maybe not larger ones. We'd do this so that skiffs wouldn't sink. You see, Prince Rupert gets enormous amounts of rain and an electric bilge pump in an open boat will often run the battery down in just a few days, that in turn, allows the boat to fill and sink. Up on the ramp, you could leave the drain plug out and the boat could be left for weeks unattended if necessary.
Good afternoon Craig, we too haul smaller boats up on ramps and pull the plug. This boat is about 900 lbs, counting the motor and fuel, so a bit heavy for the ramp. The dry dock keeps it nice and secure in bad weather, but if it looks like we are going to get a direct hit from a hurricane it goes onto a trailer and into a shed. Thanks Craig, have a great weekend, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
Good morning Rob, my least favorite part of boating is sanding and cleaning toxic antifoul paint off the bottom of the boat. This solves that problem. Have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
Ben, this is so cool. I love the boat, the dry dock, and all it's rigging including the barrel. I can't wait to show my brother, he's into stuff like that.
Good morning Mark, yes, I am a big fan of pulleys. If you can't move something you just need more pulleys. Thanks so much for stopping by, have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
Good afternoon Mark, I just watched your latest video. Really like the Kubota 👍I was unable to leave a comment for that video. Might be that you have it set for kids on TH-cam. Have a good one, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
Thanks Ben for watching, you are correct I have it set for kids, it's been so long that I have posted maybe I'll get it figured out. Like you I have been so busy for a guy that's been retired for 7 years and I'm still trying to figure out how I did work 12 hour days. Lol
Hi Ben. That is a really cool set up to store the boat. I have never seen it done like that before. The way you have it all set up makes a lot of sense with having to deal with tides. Really awesome! Nice work!
Good evening Justin, the tides can present a problem, this way solves any issues and keeps the bottom of the boat clean. Thanks so much, have a great great week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
Good morning Ben, very interesting system. My wife and I debated between a boat and a travel trailer. We went with the travel trailer. Covid came and four years later we still haven't used the trailer. Should have went with a boat. Have a great day!
Hi Ben, like Norm said below you always have amazing ideas 👍🏻, very cool 👍🏻. Now I'm curious what the long pipe on the end of the dock on the right does, I'm sure it's another great idea 😉👍🏻. Have a great week Ben ☕🙋🏼♂👍🏻🙂
Good morning Luc, thank you so much Sir! The long pipe is a roller. We use it to pull a small dinghy, with a 2hp motor, up onto the float. That float has a dual purpose. The dinghy sits on it and that float is also used for picking up and moving concrete moorings. There is a hatch door in the center of it. Have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
A lot of challenges to deal with on your shore. It looks like you have plenty of draft at the dock especially during high tide. Enjoy The Journey - Cheers
Good morning Bob, Living by the ocean can be very beautiful but does have its challenges at times. Working with the tide, using it to your advantage makes things easier. Thanks so much for stopping by, have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
Good afternoon John, it works great for keeping the bottom of the boat clear of barnacles and algae, without using Antifoul paint. Thanks for stopping by, have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
You have some amazing ideas! Very impressive!
Good morning Sir! Thanks so much! I do love solving problems. Have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
