    Hey, we recognize those mods! 😁Nice flying! Btw, we discovered that you don't have to change the receiver - just do a reset of any AS3X/SAFE receiver with the Spektrum programming tool using their software. It turns it into a bare bones receiver without AS3X/SAFE.

      Thank you! We love your channel! This is exactly where we got the idea from! Yes. We had another’s subscriber tells about resetting the AS3X! We just had an AR620 handy so we used that!

      Hey! Im subscribed to you guys and love the videos! I actually did see that video as well about upgrades for the turbo timber and i watched it all, even though i didnt even have one lol.
      Ive always loved the way it looks and the bigger tires for way more spots to fly it and i knew if i stuck with the rc planes that id eventually get one when the time was right. Anyway maybe a year later now, I happened to find a mint used one used few times, but basically perfect, no crashes, he had the box and everything used for a great price, but the RX was bad, which is why it was so cheap. So i put a AR636 RX i had already, to replace it and its working great again. The original AR637TA just does nothing, no lights nothing, and wont connect to the PC. So im assuming it just went bad somehow. I tested it for the basic stuff like all the control surfaces and the motor with it braced against something and all was good, i havent flown it yet though, ive been busy messing with my other planes and my fpv drones lately so i just havent gotten to it. I also ordered a new AR631, in case i cant get the AR636 to work, but i would need another RX for an original RED/WHT Carbon Cub 1.3m that had no RX as well, so i really bought it for that plane, but it should work in the Timber as well as far as i know atleast..
      So is this how you turn on AS3X & Safe select ON for a RX like the Spektrum AR636, or only to reset it, which you say disables even AS3X?
      Bc I followed a bunch of diy's and i have used the spektrum programmer tool in the past and i just cant get it to actually work in the plane, it just doesn't do as far as safe modes..
      I also found a pc program made by someone on the forums, and its called Safe model builder or something like that and it lets you modify all the safe and as3x settings, more settings than ive seen in the programmer or thru FWD Programming actually too, which is nice.
      However, after setting it all up with the spektrum program and trying it with Safe Map Building & editing program, and i get the same results both ways pretty much.
      I just like to have safe select just incase i need to i can switch it back to safe and hope it can recover when i cant, and then once back under control, switch it back off. Sort of like the panic button should be but i never had any luck with that and havent used it since my first UMX planes when i was just starting out with no flying experience at all yet basically.
      I'm still working on practicing more and more, to be able to fly it in "Manual" mode on the RC planes and have that full control, but also be able to control it properly and not go too much.
      I think Intermediate mode was the best SAFE mode they had, because it was basically AS3X mode, so no self leveling and very little or no, Ail to Rudder mix, as well as the Throttle to Elevator mix.
      However it still has decent angle limits so you can't go upside down, but still lets you bank hard to practice as if it was in AS3X mode and get used using the control sticks properly..
      Im trying to avoid crashing as much as possible until i can finally feel somewhat confident in the manual mode lol. The simulator seems almost too easy sometimes vs real life idk....

    If you want to keep as3x and want full throws install the timber X reciever. It's programed for maximum throw. Plus you can crow and many other combinations. It feels super locked in if you turn up the aileron and rudder gains.

    Very fun to watch, I own two of the Evo's and really like the 13x4APC two blade for the added power. I have not changed receiver to enhance the throws to 150% However I do not feel it need them for my style of flying. If I want to do 3d flying I would buy a model designed for that purpose. It is a awesome stol aircraft as it is.

      I'm guessing the Turbo Timber comes with a three-bladed prop more for looks then for performance. The three bladed prop does give it more of a turbo look.

    • @mxracingunlimitedltd7784
      @mxracingunlimitedltd7784 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BillKisel yea it comes with a three-blade prop in the small picture in the video. I dont know much about how it all works, but is it just maybe a low quality stock propeller?
      Like why would real planes use a three-blade prop if they could get more performance out of a twin-blade Prop? Or does it affect other things besides performance?

    Awesome video! Going to order two of the 2-blade props this week! So a Timber X 2-blade prop spinner fits on the Turbo Timber? What prop size does the Timber X use stock, do you know?
    I heard that the wings are interchangeable and you can mount the Timber X on the Turbo Timber and kind of have two diffrent style planes in one.
    I always wanted to do a FPV setup on an RC Plane and i think the Turbo Timber Evo might be perfect for it. Just need to figure out a good way to mount the camera. Maybe on the hatch so its replaceable to easily switch back and forth between regular flying and the FPV camera setup on there. You could reinforce the Hatch mounts and it should stay on no problem, maybe try it with a rubber band first to be sure lol

    These mods would not change/increase the stall speed. The greater control throws allow you to overcontrol (elevator) to induce the stall by rapidly changing angle of attack. An airplane can stall at any speed, stall is a function of angle of attack, not airspeed.

  • @jacobboone6078
    @jacobboone6078 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can unlock the stock receiver and reprogram it to do whatever you want. This allows you to keep as3x and safe and still have the added throw.

    It's a good idea to remove the spinner and replace it with a spinner 'nut' this keeps the look but allows way more air into the motor as after 10mins of thrashing the motor can get toasty without it!

    Ive flown mine with the Timber X 2 blade which i believe is a 12x8. Since resetting my rx and upgrading my servos and splitting the ailerons to achieve crow, i have acquired an APC13x4, a master airscrew 12x6 AND a 12x8. What sort of difference should i expect from the 13x4 or the 12x6 since they have quite a pitch difference?

      Grab a simulator. "Real Flight". But I would suggest an older version like the RF8 or 9 where you get a disk copy verses being a slave to the "steam" gaming system.

    You put a Ar620,the on that doesn't have a antenna,I wouldn't say that Iis a better reciever

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      The AR-620 is an excellent receiver! I have it on five of my large balsa kit planes: 3 electrics + 2 nitros. I also use them on my larger foamies. I’ve used them for years and never had one single issue of brown-outs or complete signal loss! We specifically use the AR-620 because they they don’t have external antennas that gets in the way of electrical wiring, they don’t need a bind plug, and most importantly they have no gyro mechanism that affects the servos!

      The X stalls even easier than the Evo lol but it's 3D capability is FAR superior, since that's what it's designed for. Sort of like the difference between the UMX timber X and the umx turbo timber and the umx turbo timber evolution. The X lacks sorely in the STOL category which turned alot of people off to it. I cut and installed the LE slats from my umx turbo timber and after slapping them on the little X, she's a different animal with minimal 3d performance loss
