For those wondering, Ali was half a second too late on the last one. He didn't get his last marker directly on the dot that indicated Mississippi in time, and the marker had to stop moving in order for it to count, lest it fall over.

Rules are rules. The marker HAD to stop moving and be on the right dot in time in order for it to count. And the rules stayed the same throughout the entire run. The only change-- Gumshoes had to get eight instead of seven after season 1.
No one got robbed by anyone. Ali only robbed himself.

The blame cannot be placed on the host. Most Gumshoes would tend to jump ahead of the host.
I slowed down the video to see for myself, and it was the right decision, just a half second off.
Fwiw 30 years later…he took his sweet time putting the markers down, even the host kept telling him to hurry back because he sat around waiting for the buzzer when right or wrong he should’ve went back.
I always thought the rule was the hands had to come off it before the buzzer.
I was one question away from appearing on this show. The kid who beat me went on to be Valedictorian of his HS, graduated Magna Cum Laude from college and is now a Prof of Archeology. I went to Community College then did drugs for 20+ years. He helped me get clean and while staying at his house in early recovery, saved him from a bad electric shock with CPR. Life's a trip.

This show was such a big part of my childhood. Everyday I'd come home from school and watch this and then Square One Television which came on right after this. I was so mad when they replaced this show with "Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego"

I did honestly like Where In Time but at the expense of this wasn’t right.

I remember as a kid I tried getting into Where in Time is Carmen San Diego but it just wasn't the same.

It was ran from 1991 until 1996 on the American PBS channel , and then it's spinoff, "Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego?" was ran from 1996 until 1998, with a different host. This was also a joint-venture production of WQED/Pittsburgh and WGBH/Boston, and was funded by different sponsors over the years such as Toyota, Delta Airlines, and more. This was my favorite show as a kid as well. Growing up in the 90's come home from school, 4:30 PM EVERYDAY I am in the living room of our old house watching WitWiCS, my parents always were thinking "hmm, where's our son?" oh 4:30 carmen sandiego dont bother him.
you know I think I just realized that Time didn't have the sponsors that World did (like nothing travel related, I can kind of see another reason why Time didn't last)

I loved this show as a kid. And playing the game on the very old apple mac box computer. Then the spin off where in time(which was cool for the history) and cartoon(which i loved cause not only was it action packed it was educational)
Unfortunately social media has them worried too much about which gender they will be instead of educational stuff like this.

Brings back such great memories! Personally, I loved world history and geography and to me, this show was everything.

Nobody watches actual television any longer, especially kids.

I didn't find this show until my 20s as I wasn't born when it was on air. It made me so happy to learn that Chief was also Luna on Bear in the Big Blue House which was a favorite of mine when I was little ❤️

I watched this show the whole time it was on and every clue they found to locate Carmen was really funny and my one favorite part of the show was the group that sang the show's theme song.
The bass singer showed up to my best friend's dad's 40th birthday party. My best friend and I freaked out😅 😸
I remember watching this show in elementary school they would play the episodes in class every week or so

I loved this show! I learned about so much history and geography and couldn’t wait for school to tell my friends and teachers about what I learned. It got to the point when it was “Friday entertainment learning day” with my 5th grade teacher she incorporated episodes of Carmen San Diego with the magic school bus and Bill Nye. Great times!

The "tracking" at the beginning brought back more nostalgia than the whole show
When you do the math, the chance of getting the Loot, Warrant and Crook in order on the first turn is 1/15 * 1/14 * 1/13 = 1/2730. I'm not sure what the 100 yard breaststroke record was back then, I hope Amy did well in her swimming career.

it felt like there were clues when the woman was talking, like the first thing she said was 'birds eye view'... but I didnt notice anything else that would have given the other two locations. she also mentioned locations specifically that weren't anything, such as national monument

I remember hearing that lil theme song as a wee kid, I don’t remember actually watching the show, but I HAVE seen Lynne as the Chief in Great Chase Through Time/Where in Time as a kid. Always found it neat she was the only live action character in a cartoony edutainment game. ^_^

Due to communism collapsing in Europe the late 80s and early 90s, they eventually had to put a disclaimer it was accurate as of the date of recording and they showed the date it was recorded.
