Mr. Ingraham, what was the name of the Indian village which was the forerunner of Ithaca? How is it spelled? Thank you. Great video. I enjoyed it very much.

I apologize for not seeing your comment until now. In any case, there rrealeaa really wasn't a village in what is now ithaca, to my knowledge. The land was too swampy. A mile or south in Inlet Valley, however, there was a town called Coreorgonel, made up mostly of Tutelo refugees from Virginia hosted by the Cayugas. It was destroyed in 1779 by the Sullivan Campaign invasion. The area that is now Ithaca was called "Neodakheat" by the Cayugas, according to a writer in the 1800s.

Anthony Ingraham Thank you so much, sir! I appreciate the response.
Consequently, I came across your video, researching information on Taughannock Falls and it's history; I was working on a song that was inspired by a trip I took there with my wife. After seeing the falls, I was quite moved by the experience and then even more interested in writing about it when I learned of some of the history.
If you are at all interested in listening to the song, I can provide a TH-cam link to it for you.
Again, thank you for the response and more so for this great informative video.
      -Victor

WHY speak of native tribes in the past tense!? The cayuga, Onondaga, Seneca, Oneida, Mohawk, and Tuscarora still exist, the settlers just stole their land!
