Thrusting shield is definitely an incredible weapon, I wonder if combining the newly buffed stone club and hammer talisman can get some good results against it though. By the way, blocking moonveil might be worth if you use new Pearlshield talisman, it raises the non physical negation of your shield.

And now it’s the name for the Dual Thrusting Shield build; “Real Steel”

This is why you have gatekeepers in fromsoft because when you don't this shit happens and the devs respond to all the whiners who needed bosses and weapons nerfed while theirs get buffs over the next 3 patches

Tanking a the white charge (oof sounds bad) with minimal damage to stamina, having the shield go through your opponent during crits, absolutely no unique ashes of war and blocking frames being way to stretched makes me feel they really didnt finish this weapon type, snd that within 4 months will get a revamp Or at least i wish, bc holy shit lol

I'd say that a thrusting shield with scholar's shield or the grease variant could be a good counter to swift slash, but it needs more testing and so fsr I've fought one with this setup

The entire weapon class is actually op. You can tank collossals and remain aggressive in light armor, because you defend while you attack, and the guard values are ridiculously overturned. Collossals literally tickle your stamina bar. Seems so silly to nerf shields... Only to make an entire class around the same broken aspects.

use the new fire giants ultra greatsword.. it has an r1 to r1 and poke to r1 true combo 100% of time time. on a str build, with fire affinity, and one of the 2 ashes of war that coats that blade in mesmer's flame, paired with the cracked tear that coats your enemies in oil in your physic.... you can do 1600 damage true combos. 100% of the time.
@@dennismadrid5146 yes. on my 80 str 150 a build, I was running 129 poise, the new 2h sword talisman, and with that new UGS on fire, with the ash of war fire buff on the sword, I was at over 1000 AR. that with exalted flesh, and an uplifting aromatic I was over 1300. that with the oil on the physic... I hit a host for 1900 max hp.. in ONE r1 to r1 true combo. It's currently the BEST UGS.... and on a side note... with 99 vigor (2100 hp) with the fire knight's pointed helm, the new +3 crimson talisman, and the erdtree's +2... you will have 2450 HP.. that in a duel is pretty nasty. you can have that + 129 poise + 80 str at RL 200. makes for a nearly unkillable hyperarmour trading tank. OR you could put that str into faith, and cast minor erdtree (but the sword would be to flame art instead of fire) and you can just sit on the 24hp/second healing tree as you force trades.. X D.. it's the only currently known counter to swiftslash.. other than Chainsaw l0l
I get that it’s the dlc and a lot of things are going to be broken, but this gs is very overtuned. It should not have true combos with regular r1s. I use the weapon and it is just straight up not fair so much so I had to stop using it because it became not fun to invade
Using reapers or shotels for chip damage, impaling thrust/piercing fang, blind spot. There are ways around it but it's a bit rough atm. Still trying to find the best counter

@RedPhisher175 Impaling thrust ignores 60% of block, piercing fang ignores blocking completely. Sword of Night's aow is indeed clunky and easy to get around, but I'm sure we'll find more solutions as the time goes on. Thrusting shields are good but I don't forsee them being the be-all-end-all of pvp
Valorheart was the most underrated weapon in ds3. Everyone slept on it but its mixup game was so good. I would pair it with an off hand iron round shield so if you weren’t paying attention, you didn’t know if I had parry up or block break up. R1 R1 jump attack caught people so often and the move set was so stylish.
Been maining this since i got it, Im not a fantastic PvPer, but ive fought a few Scythes and it wasnt too troublesome, this is a really great, and well balanced, strong option and im glad it was added

Double Shotel with lightning & bloodhound claw weapons go through these shields like a hot knife through butter 🧈 👌 endure AoW gives you a chance to reverse pressure as well
Every single weapon should have special block atack, it doesn't suppose to have block properties, no you just get a new attack when you hold block, that's it. Imagine having some king of poke on your collosal hammer, would be good. And we also need access to back step attack form neatrall.
Just came here to say if your abusing hyper armor you're a bum never in the history of fromsoft has anyone been able to tank to poise literally everything and stand stationary or just move forward and press one button. This is now possible thanks to elden ring ashes of war and hyper armor. We have always had hyper armor but never has it been so overpowered in pvp it makes anything else unviable. You can really tell which builds do the most crying to the developers as they constantly nerf dex and arcane boosting strength faith and magic consistently. What more do you guys need to win is my question. How many handicaps and advantages do you actually need to feel comfortable in pvp?

Bleed or frost procs dont break attack animations for shields, so you can mash against bleed users without losing priority.

Not really a gimmick. Historically in video games anything that attacks and defends at the same time is good and can play extremely aggressively.

Yeah it’s pretty good. It also pretty light for an ultra weapon so you can easily min max your character for more damage compared to the other ultras.

Can confirm, no powerstance. Left shield blocks on l1, does poke on l2 if you have shield strike ash on it
running heavy is nice too. i never play with lock on on the weapon, just works better that way (tbf i play on pc)
