So I'm back with the second part of my Bandhavgrah trip. Today we have someone very special who has almost seen all the legendary tigers of Bandhavgarh.
Please welcome Mr. Mukesh Barman one of the senior naturalists in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. Born & brought up in Tala village Mukesh Bhai started his career as a naturalist at a very young age.
From the mighty "Charger" & his legendary son "B2" to today's dominant males "Bajrang & Chakradhara Male" he has sighted all of them. A lot of facts about how Bandhavgarh regained its tiger population after the hunting period that took place during the reign of the Maharajas of Rewa & the conservation methods implemented by the MP State & Forest Department in saving its tigers, all has been discussed in this video.

Both these tigers have contributed immensely in terms of increasing the tiger numbers in Bandhavgarh. Thanks brother for appreciating the podcast.

One last question do you plan to cover Rajaji National Park too. I understand that west Rajaji does not have tigers. Some are being relocated from corbett now. Neverthless it is a beautiful park but under lot of stress. Could you sometime do a detailed review of Rajaji?
Yes, Brother, I will be covering it soon Rajaji is on my list. I would have covered it when I had covered Corbett but due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand, I was not able to do that. It was very risky to go there. Yes you are right there are not enough tigers in Rajaji but it is home to Asian elephants & leopards. Leopards & elephants have caused a lot of problems for the locals out there & Rajaji is my main subject of man-animal conflict.

I loved this interview! And the fact that you showcased such a brilliant person who would normally not be interviewed! What a font of knowledge he was and most of all his love for tigers was noticeable in everything he said! I wish I had seen this before I went to Bandhavgarh in June. Sadly we were not lucky enough to see any tigers! Keep up the good work and yes! together we will save the tiger and his habitat!

Plz make a documentary on simlipal tiger reserve which is in odisha,there was a time when simlipal had over 150 tigers,now the population has declined at 20,so simlipal has just 20 tigers due to poaching and apathetic attitude of simlipal forest department
