    Epic chess has a good sense of which theoretical lines to explain, and when to refrain, and that keeps the continuity of the game going.

    I'm English and the team had a crunch match, with a crucial game on board 4, and I was still compelled to watch the Magnus game! I just find his play so refreshing

      Yeah I mean every game takes a lot of effort and alas although there's a lot of other great games, whilst I grow the channel it's hard not to over an awful lot of Magnus content when we all just love watching his chess!

    As 1500 elo player, calculating endgames is up there with the most stressful thing you can do. And learning all the theory is no good either it just let's you know you're losing

    Your analyses are spot on and I love the humor! How much time do you spend analyzing a game before recording? It seems you record in one take.

    • @epicchess2021
      @epicchess2021  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      Thanks very much! I usually analyse all through and do the chess bit, then think about the story of it a bit more and do thumbnail, then do a rehearsal and thinking like how I wanna tell it, then record it and go. Yeah usually one take these days to keep it natural and conversational but occasionally I have a couple cuts or so

      Giri draws much less than people think, it´s just that we notice all his draws after that tourney with 14 draws. But Giri is very hard to beat, he is a master of saving bad positions by going into defence mood instead of taking high risks. Giri´s draws are often fighting draws, not So draws.

    Love the sense of humour in these ones (videos). ;) Methinks Epic Chess has enough fame now to go by his real name no? 😉 Btw. did you see the video about why chess players are poor from Eric Hansen and Hikaru commenting on his video? One reason there are so much draws from the high level players is that they are so desperate to keep rating points. They need the rating points to get invited to the high level tournaments. Sad if that skews how they play so much as Hikaru suggested.
