    My god Martin Sheen was one hell of an actor,in this roll. And the writer.should have (if they didn’t) received an award. To listen to them act it’s as if they were acting in place and time.

      Of all the actors who played President Kennedy, he’s probably the best one. What do you think?

      Fair enough, but I really love the movie Missiles of October, with William Devane as JFK and Sheen as RFK. And Thirteen Days with Greenwood/JFK and Culp/RFK. I watch these movies every year during the days of October 16-28th, the days of the October 1962 crisis. Yes, it would have been an excellent docudrama if the whole series was devoted to the CMC, there would have been a lot of airtime to explore this event which was probably the biggest crisis of the entire Cold War (1946-1991) and perhaps of the Kennedy admin. he could have done so much more had he had the full term plus another! Assasination , has sin written in it and that's what it is.
      I would love to have tried my hand as JFK or RFK, I have always patterned myself after them, also Ronald Reagan. There is a great joint debate with RFK and RR in May of 1967. They are answering questions of a group of young people, very interesting. We know RFK won the democratic primary in California, but did you know as the republican Governor of California, Reagan won as the "favorite son" candidate! I will be watching in full the Kennedy miniseries this November as I always do. "The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor, will light our country and all who serve it, and the glow from that fire, can truly light the world."

    JFK--- The Last Great Man to occupy the office of President of the Unites States. This man, with nothing but diplomacy and balls, averted WWIII, The Missiles Of October is the best film on this critical time in world history...William Devane as JFK was astounding. I can't remember, but Martin Sheen played Bobby in one JFK film...It COULD'VE been The Missiles Of October...

    In November of 1983 when this was broadcast it was just like this with Ronald reagan vs the soviets the able Archer crisis and the day after history repeated itself from October of 1962 the United States even installed powerful nuclear missiles in Western Europe to stop the soviets

    If anyone should've been given a Nobel prize for peace, it would've been JFK, but not only that, it should've been awarded to Soviet Naval Capt Vasily Arkhipov, one of the officers aboard a Soviet submarine in the Caribbean near Cuba. Capt Arkhipov insisted against launching a nuclear weapon at the U S. Naval fleet blocking the Soviet ships from entering Cuban waters. In essence, Capt Arkhipov (himself) personally & basically saved the world from nuclear war and was NEVER recognized for it. The lives of everyone in the U.S., Soviet Union, and the world would've been annihilated, had it not been for him. Arkhipov deserves the recognition...and a posthumous Nobel price for peace, in that regard; something long overdue.

    I wonder how Ronald reagan would have handled the Cuban missile crisis they should make a movie about that just replace JFK with Reagan

    • @AnthonyCatella
      @AnthonyCatella 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am sure Reagan would have been as firm in his stand as was JFK, remember Reagan , although a strong advocate of military strength, would often say, "A nuclear war can never be won and must never be fought." Reagan would have successfully solved this crisis on the basis of that belief.

      Just think if there had been no JFK,most likely would've been Tricky Dick or Lyin' Lyndon.What would they have done? Fortunately we'll never know.God had the right man in that oval office then,or a lot of us who were born after wouldn't have been

      Take off the rose colored glasses. The Soviets would never have dared to put missiles in Cuba in the first place if LBJ or Nixon were president. They thought JFK weak from Vienna.

    I would suggest that you watch the movie 7 days in may. The Burt Lancaster character was supposed to be based on nutcase general Curtis Lemay.
