I was diagnosed with T1D 5 months ago at 36 years old. I don't know anyone else with Type 1 and I didn't even know where to start. I'm so happy that I found your videos; they have been a ray of light for me! Inspirational, informative and so emotionally therapeutic :) I've never posted comments before but I had to thank you for all that you do.
Oh my goodness thank you so so much Sarah! I'm so sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis - and at 36 - that's got to be quite overwhelming. Well done to you for taking to the internet and searching out positivity and support. I think the T1D community on the whole is incredibly wonderful and truly a fabulous resource of strength. I'm sending you tons and tons of love and joy and...yes! Strength!! You got this girl!!
i always love your videos. it is absolutely motivational to me that even when your blood sugars are trending higher you are upbeat and smiling. it always helps remind that regardless of the importance of manager blood glucose levels there is more to life than just the numbers we deal with daily.
Oh thank you so much Melody!!! You put it perfectly - we are more than these numbers, but also, sometimes they get me down too!!! I hope you're staying safe and healthy during these difficult times!! Big love!!!
I´ve been diagnosed with t1d 3 days ago and your positivity really helps to calm me down... Glad to see that you can still have a relatively normal life with diabetes :) sty safe!
Oh my goodness - I'm so so sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis. You will get through this difficult time - I promise you, and it will become easier and more second nature. I'm sending you tons of strength and good wishes!!! Stay Safe!!
I didn't know you lived in our wonderful country ? Wow, I like you even more now lol. You are such a great inspiration to all people like me who have this pain in the ass of a problem. Take care, stay safe, and keep up the amazing work my girl.
Thank you so much for your kind words!! And also - I totally hear you on the 7 days inside situation - completely and utterly!! But we will get through this - truly we are strong and we can do this!!! Sending strength and joy!!!
Recent subscriber here, love your positive outlook! I think 12 weeks of self isolation is daunting for anyone, but breaking days down and trying to stay positive is key. Thanks for the video!
Andrea you are a ray of sunshine! You had me laughing out loud when you referred to yourself as Monica. I’m a huge Friends fan! Thank you for your vlog! Please do more day in the life videos ❤️❤️
Thank you Fiona!! Ah yes - Friends is the best!!! And thank you for your encouragement - I will definitely do more of these in the future!!! :-) Big love!!
I have been doing the same thing. Decluttering, reorganizing, cleaning and cooking many meals. Cleaning and organizing puts me in my happy place. Only wish I could share a pic of my kitchen cabinets! Monica sisters unite!
YAYAYAYA!!! MONICA SISTERS UNITE INDEED!! I have for sure been going crazy with the cleaning and organising and it makes me feel SO much better. It's just so nice to have something so concrete to do and control during this difficult time. I'm imagining your cupboards looking tip top!! Hope you're having a lovely weekend!!
I just found out I was T1 diabetic this year, and I just started a lifestyle channel too! it’s so cool to see how different things are in different parts of the world, I live in California and the meters and numbers are very different! I loved your video though, it was very calming!
Thank you Rex!!! There's always a silver lining to be found I think, though I do completely understand this is a really difficult time! Hope you're doing okay!
Hope your self isolation stays blessed and if ya run out of things to watch on TH-cam I’d really appreciate the support and I’m almost certain there will be more than 1 edit that puts a smile on your face. Stay blessed stay safe and hopefully speak soon.
Oh thank you so much for your kind words of support and encouragement - I really appreciate it!! I will absolutely be putting more content out here asap - keep your eyes peeled! I hope you're well, happy, and healthy!!!! Stay Safe!!
You look like the healthiest person on the planet and now I can see why! The salad looked awesome (without the celery)! Popped lotus seeds look good too, although I've never tried it. I wonder if it tastes anything like popped water lily seeds? I love snacks but I''ve sworn off them because once I get going, I don't stop.. Anyway, loving the day in a life format! Stay awesome, and take care!
Oh thank you so so much!!! And you know what - actually water lily seeds are the same as lotus seeds I believe!! At least I've had both and they taste the exact same! I hear you on the snacking...I do LOVE a good snack!! Stay well and healthy! :)
I like your videos when you had gone for your walk I was surprised how much blood sugars drop just walking mine dropped just as much as yours did amazing just a little exercise will do for blood sugars. Stay healthy and safe.
I am 16 yrs old and been diagnosed with diabetes type 1 a few months ago, at first it was really shocking for me, cause I am that athletic guy who's into every sport and also never took so much food from outside or sugar. I didn't know how to deal with it and cope up with the schedule of insulin intake. Glad I found you, it really helps seeing that things can be normal with this condition too, keep up the good work ma'am, thank you for motivating us all.............. Also I am from India and I know why you like tea so much, I can feel that
I'm so sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis Yajur, this must be such an overwhelming time for you - I am sure. Please know you are not alone and things will get easier! It's so so overwhelming when you're first diagnosed, especially if you don't have anyone in your family with diabetes and it's come out of nowhere. Thank you for commenting and watching - we are all here for you and send you joy, health and healing! Welcome to the channel, and please know you can always find support and understanding here!
Can u make a video showing yoru ratios, your sensibility, basals and all those configurations? I hardly ever get the chance to see someone elses' and I am just so curious! I love your videoooss :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! I've actually decided not to share these in a video because I think they can be quite triggering for people, kind of like comparing weights - there's just no point and potentially damage can be done. I completely respect your curiosity though and maybe another TH-camr would be willing to do it. I just hope you understand my reasoning! Thank you so so so so much for the idea though - I'm truly always open to them and would love to hear any other suggestions you may have!! 💕💕💕
Great Video, Love the energy you have,Always positive!!! Diabetes sometimes can be tough at times, and I hope new Type-1 Diabetics follow you and learn. Your simple day in the life can be a learning experience for new Diabetics. I was a little concerned when your sugars were 92 going down a little. I am active as well and so happy to be able to lower my basal rate. Please stay Safe & Healthy during this bad time in the world.
My son is t1d and is in and out of the hospital since February. We cannot control it, and he's 18 years old, so he doesn't want to track everything he eats, and will often times "sneak" non plan foods and hide the evidence and not correct... i am at my wit's end, and your videos are giving me some ideas and some hope.
Oh I'm so sorry you and your Son are going through this. It's so so sooooo difficult for anyone when they're diagnosed, but I truly believe teens have it particularly hard, with all the emotions raging and just generally wanting not to be different. I truly am so glad you're finding help within the videos. Please know that we, as a community are here for you, and I hope that things will improve soon. You're clearly an outstanding Mom for being here in support of him 💙💙💙
@@ShesDiabetic and now he's started with the neuropathy in his feet, so that's new and exciting. We're trying to correct him to 90 instead of his usual 180(supposed to be 120)...but I'm having him watch your videos and get some tips. It's helping him immensely. 😁
Can you tell me the name of your daily journal? As a newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic at age 51, I have been encouraged by your videos and enjoy seeing how authentic you are about living with this disease. The interviews with your parents were informative and fun to watch. Keep smiling and encouraging me and others to live our best life.
Oh thank you so much for your kind words Bernadette! I'm so so sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis and sincerely hope you're doing okay! The journal is called "The Five Minute Journal" - I talk about it in my Covid-19 video that I posted last week. Hope this helps you and thank you again for your kindness!
Have you thought about looping? I use AAPS and it's changed my life. Watching you manually enter the figures into your pump seemed really quaint ;-) . You'd have to change your pump, to an Omnipump if you want to stick with iOS or a Dana or Accu-Chek if you want to use AAPS. Dexcom might not like it - you'd have to use a modified version of their app.
I have thought about it but for a variety of reasons I've opted to not loop at this time - but who knows - maybe in the future...! Right now this is the only pump I can be on within the NHS so I can't change pumps for a few years anyway, sadly. I'm jealous of you're ability to just eat and not use the bolus wizard....SO. COOL...!!!
I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes at the age of 16. However, I was prescribed insulin right away which I depended on for 10 years. However, I stumbled across Dr.Eric Bergs channel and started doing keto diet. I dont take medications anymore. I definitely feel that you will be able to control your blood sugars better even with minuscule amounts of insulin with keto and intermittent fasting...
I'm sorry I don't really understand your question, can you rephrase? I have a lot of videos about Type 1 Diabetes education on my channel across a whole load of subjects! I hope this answer your question!!
could you maybe do a whole video about what you eat in a day? Because before diagnosis i´ve also been mostly vegan and I´m not quite sure if thats still possible...Also maybe some recipes that dont have to be bolused would be really helpful! Greetings from Germany :)
Yes!!! Absolutely! I may actually film one this week! I'll keep you updated! I'd say I eat vegan 90% of the time and therefore I can say - for me it's absolutely worked and made my diabetes actually easier to control. I'll work on getting this video out asap. Thank you so much for the encouragement and awesome suggestions!
You’re an absolute tease Andrea! Amazed you hit a low with raisins, corn, sushi, etc.. I avoid high carb food like the plague (forgive the pun), which affords me pretty good control but, perhaps I’m missing out on the nutritional benefits of a salad as delish as yours, and the fun of eating it of course! My insulin intake is rock bottom and I believe that helps with weight loss, so anything I can do to drop my dose is paramount. Maybe I need to yank my son’s rowing machine out to allow me to be more creative with my meals! Beats cleaning cupboards! 🤣
Ah - thank you Paul!! Your comments are always the best - so uplifting and fun and funny!! What can I say - we're all different! The important thing is that you find what works best for you! :-) And that sounds fun about the rowing machine!! I say give it a go!! Hope you're staying safe, healthy and happy!!!
Ah! Very great observation! Basically I grew up in America with mg/dl, but because my pump is in mmol/L I have that on my pump - I prefer mg/dl so I use that on my Dex - but can't change it no my pump sadly! :( I hope this makes sense - it's very confusing I know!!
Yeah I get it but doesn’t it affect your sugar levels the stress Of the whole thing wondering if you’re going to offend anybody. all these guys with their Comments about you how it affects your family that kind of thing. And now today with all the stuff that’s going on sugar levels are going to be up there
I feel good! I'm having ups and downs - minute to minute sometimes, of course! But honestly I'm getting though and just doing what needs to be done right now. Thank you for asking!! I hope you're doing well, and staying safe, happy and healthy!!
I've never seen you without a smile and that always bring a smile to my face.
Oh! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!! (Smiling now!!!)
