    I've always been really curious throughout the years on how to start showing and getting more involved in the community. This was beyond helpful so thank you for being a wonderful teacher! Love your videos, keep them coming!!

    Man, maybe the most powerful thing the internet has done is how it's brought geek groups together to celebrate their shared interests. Before the net made it so easy to reach out and find others with similar obsessions, people mostly just figured that they were the only ones into whatever niche thing they were into. But now, there are hundreds of model horse shows across the continent every year. :)
    So, like some others, I ended up on your channel via a minor link between hobbies. (One of TH-cam's particular strengths.) While watching some airbrush tutorials, your vids about Vallejo paint and airbrushes were suggested. I clicked through and now I've spent a good portion of my New Years Day watching videos of your boyfriend opening boxes and you painting horses. :)
    I didn't even know it existed this morning, and now I have serious questions about model horse showing. If I'm correctly interpreting some of what you said in this video, there are classes for completely stock models? That seems ... I dunno ... unfair? Like, just luck of the draw? Cuz all of your Premier Club stuff has been in terrible shape right out of the box, right? But if the person at the next stable over randomly pulled a better model out of the box, they're gonna take first place? Are there like, age groups based on how old the model is? I guess it'd make more sense to me to be judging say, how good of a condition a 50 year old model is at this point, as opposed to models that new, out of the box, aren't all in equal condition. Now, on this channel about something I didn't even know was a thing seven hours ago, I want you to do a vlog from a show where you explain more about the procedures and the classes and give us a look around at everyone's displays and stuff. :) And more videos of you actually working on a piece, like the footage you show in the "How to paint a Roan" vid.
    Thanks for this. It's been a fun day learning about some new geeky hobby and watching someone enjoy their thing.

    This must be such an incredible experience!
    And so much fun to meet all these fun people that share the same interest in model horses ^•^
    I never knew that there was so much thought behind the contests. I always thought it’s just how well the horse is painted...

    Thank you sooooo much!!!! I just bought my first LSQ Woodgrain ASB. The seller was telling me a little about the models winnings and placings. I grew up showing real saddlebreds so to actually find this is blowing my mind. Now that I'm older, I have 2 really bad knees that prohibit me from showing. I've just started collecting Breyers again, but THIS?! THIS IS NEXT LEVEL!!!!

    I just came across this video and it was SUPER helpful! I have been photo showing for the last year and a half now and I have quite a few LSQ horses that I planned to start showing in person next year. I had so many questions and have been both excited and nervous because I have no clue where to start or how it functions once you are there. Thank you so much!

    Do the rarer models tend to place better than an average model that can be easily obtained from, say, Breyer or WalMart on any day?

    Thank you for putting this together! I've wanted to live show for quite a while, but I had no idea where to start.
    Side note: are you from Lethbridge? I saw it on your binder. I went to college there and it's where my husband is from!

    How can you remove dark spots on model horses? I am wanting to hopefully show a model I have but he has a black dot on him. Please let me know soon! Love your customs and videos! 💕😍✨🦊

      I’m not totally sure how to do this. I’ve tried a couple things in the past, but nothing worked that well.

      DeeJayBe Studios ok thank you, I did figure out how to remove it, I just needed to rub it with a q-tip and water. :)

    Can you show models based on real horses? I have EZ to Spot and I wasn't sure if that was allowed.

    • @TheStarWarriorHorse
      @TheStarWarriorHorse 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely you can! I’ve done so many times in the past, showing portrait models like DZ Weedo and GG Valentine. You should have no problem showing EZ to Spot so long as you place him in the correct division (e.g., OF Breyer) and he’s in decent condition. Happy showing! ;)

    would love to show my horses but mine are all 1/6 scale pedigree horses so probably wouldn't be welcome at a show like the one in your vid

    Hey, I know this is a really late comment, but if anybody who is experienced in showing or knows the answer to this question please chip in! I'm going to my first model horse show and have my Premier Club Astrid in my show string. Anybody know what class to put her under? A fjord isn't a pony, and doesn't fit any other breeds. There's not a Fjord category. Any suggestions?

    • @moosetartare
      @moosetartare ปีที่แล้ว

      Late reply, but maybe someone will still find it useful: in general, Fjords go to pony category. They may be called horses but they're in pony height range and have pony-like conformation. But it's always the best to just check with the event organizers if you're not sure. :)

    Can you Show Breyer Horse Unicorns at Model Horse Shows? The reason I ask, is because, I I’m going to get into Model Horse Showing next year. And, I will be Showing Breyer Horse Unicorns.

    • @DeeJayBeStudios
      @DeeJayBeStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can! There is usually a fantasy category.

    I want to show but I pretty sure I don’t have any models without some sort of flaw and I don’t have that many to choose from anyways should I still try and show to get experience? I already know I probably won’t place well or at all but I would learn how to do it for when I can show well

    • @DeeJayBeStudios
      @DeeJayBeStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally, it would be a great learning experience. Going in with low expectations always helps too. You’ll often wind up surprised! You can also just attend shows for fun, free of charge to see what it’s like. But the judges will always help you out and give advice to your entries.

    • @Milllkk
      @Milllkk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the show. Most commonly any brand can be used but mostly breyer. Sometimes there are divisions like peterstone, breyer, etc

    Do you have to sell the horse after a model horse show?

    • @katelyn7559
      @katelyn7559 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No but if the model places really well and you end up wanting to sell it they can sell for a bit more than it’s worth

  • @cristena0studios806
    @cristena0studios806 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is the name the horse name or your name

    • @Milllkk
      @Milllkk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most commonly (if you are talking about tags, not sure) you put you and your horses name on one side. And the breed and gender of the horse on the other

    This came up in my recommendations, I thought it was a comedic spoof, I clicked, it is not. It would appear these people are serious. I read through the comments looking for satire there were none. I don't know what to say except if these are judged against real horses most of the models did not get the withers correct. I wish you all the best, may our trails never cross.
