I know this is an old video but I just inherited a kenmore sewing machine. I have never even SEEN a sewing machine in real life. With the Corona virus putting me out of work, I decided I need to try a new hobby. Your videos have been so helpful for me. Thank you ❤️
AAANNND AGAIN! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 These videos are exactly what I've needed to get some critical DIY stuff done. Serious help you've given.
Thank you so much I have been watching like 10 other videos and nothing else was helping me and then I stumbled upon your video and thank God I did because now I can finally read my sewing machine I save this video to each and every one of my playlists
Sherri Kelly get the walking foot and you will be able to sew thick fabric and layers. I have made five bags so far without the walking foot though and I working on my sixth one using the walking foot.
I was getting so frustrated and stressed with this damn sewing machine (because I never used one, and your voice calmed me down and helped me stay patient. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for making these videos. Extremely helpful when I haven’t used my sewing machine for years and needed a little help to start up sewing again. 😊
I thank you so much. I just bought this machine used, and when I went to tread the bobbin, the needle kept moving. I knew something wasn't right, so I found your video that shows to pull out the wheel, and it worked. I don't have a Manuel, so I thank you so, so much. Many blessings.❤❤❤❤
My husband bought my machine years ago after me begging him and then I realized I had no idea how to do it. This was before youtube and wonderful videos like yours. Now I'm finally learning!! Thank you!
I took my kenmore that it's exactly like yours to the repair shop. They found that what was causing the stitches to be stuck in little tiny stitches was that the reverse was stuck. They fixed it and is like brand new. I love it more than my brother cs6000, now I will take a look at your video explaining how to use the different stitches. Thanks!!!!!!
I want to hem my own pants so I figure I might as well learn to use a sewing machine! Anyway, I also have a Kenmore series machine, but this particular model has a built-in needle threader! It made threading easy. 😉
You said in the last video and this one that the thread needs to come off over the top toward us, but if you examine the graphic printed on the machine, it indicates that the thread should come off UNDER the spool. Do you see what I mean?
David R. Darrow - drdarrow Hi, sorry for the late response. You are correct the thread should come under the spool. I used this way for many years and for some reason my spool of thread would get stuck on the spool. I changed the way I put the spool on thread to go over the top and the issue stopped. I have used this machine since ‘02 doing this step. Thanks for the comment and keep them coming 🙃
@@whatsshecreating - do you think it was snagging on the little hook/slice they use to hold the thread before purchase? How peculiar. I haven't sewed much at all. so I have not had the 'opportunity' to run into even beginner problems. ;-) Thanks.
I hope you can help me with this next question. I’m barley getting my out of my garage and putting it into use. I did all the way up to pt 4 and I was already ready to sow but I don’t know how this happen my needle broke! Ugh hoping you have an answer as to why it broke and how to change it?
thank you for helping me use this machine. I am very new to sewing and have a Kenmore 385, but a bit different than yours. Someone give it to us and now my mom is trying to figure out how to use it. One weird thing is does your needle position with the hole facing you or facing the side? My mom said that she is used to using sewing machine with the hole is on the side as if you pull the thread thru from left to right not as top down. I don't know if you understand me, but my mom keep having trouble with the threading and cannot get the machine to work.
Thank you so much for posting this tutorial it has REALLY helped me, there are not many tutorials on this model and I'm SOOO happy you made one. But anyways I have a similar question. When you put the thread through the needle do you put the thread and pull it through towards you or do you do the opposite?
Oops I have been putting thread upside down starting when I bought 385 new many many years ago it worked but bobbin winding not so much I watched your how to bobbin winding mine suck--well Thanks they suck no more ; }
Hi, I am a beginner. I found this video, and love your videos. My machine is just like yours almost, but mine has a button beside that low and high that I don't see on yours. It's besides that one leaver under the stitches. Can you help me, please?
Thanks, I learned something about threading just after step number four. I’d always gone right to the needle. Not that I know what I’m doing. We’ve had our Kenmore since were were married, so yikes 26 years now. I break it out every once in a while to make stuff that is functional and not necessarily good looking.
Do you ever find your thread gets jammed in the first part where you thread? Mine gets pulled tight in there and snaps the thread and I haven't found a solution yet.
Sometimes that happens. 1. You may need to clean the machine. th-cam.com/video/j4C3_GcNmlg/w-d-xo.html 2. You may need to rethread the top and bobbin thread to make sure it’s threaded correctly. 3. Is your needle slightly bent? Try these options. Hope it helps.
You’re awesome. Thanks for being clear and taking it slow for us newbies.
You’re welcome. 😍😍😍😍😍
My daughter and I have been watching all your videos. Thank you for taking the time on these. We have found them so helpful!

You are so welcome!
I bought this exact machine when it was first put on the market. I’m still using it. It works great for almost anything except thick/bulky stuff.
Sherri Kelly get the walking foot and you will be able to sew thick fabric and layers. I have made five bags so far without the walking foot though and I working on my sixth one using the walking foot.
Amara Leigh Thank you for letting me know. I will definitely get one.
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER. I can finally start using my Kenmore Sewing machine for making my son toys instead of just hand stitching it
Yay! Thanks for watching!😍
I was getting so frustrated and stressed with this damn sewing machine (because I never used one, and your voice calmed me down and helped me stay patient. Thank you 🙏

Thanks for showing it slowly and closely. I had to watch 4 videos to get the top threading clearly
My husband bought my machine years ago after me begging him and then I realized I had no idea how to do it. This was before youtube and wonderful videos like yours. Now I'm finally learning!! Thank you!
Thank you and so I’m so glad I could help.

Was the needle inserted properly? Was the bobbin thread placed in correctly? Was the needle tight?
I am trying to locate an answer.
Thank you

The needle should be facing you. That may correct the threading problem. Thanks for writing!

RubyTu3sday hope you don't mind if I answer: it is pulled to the back.
i love you so much you are plug
Thank you!!! I could have saved 30 minutes of pulling my hair out if I had started with this video
Glad that I could help 😍!

1. You may need to clean the machine. th-cam.com/video/j4C3_GcNmlg/w-d-xo.html
2. You may need to rethread the top and bobbin thread to make sure it’s threaded correctly.

Thank you so much but I couldn see the 4Th step
I bought a sewing machine from offer up and I realized I’m missing the piece to take my thread through “3”. Is this piece fixable?
Brittani Gilliam I believe it is. However, you may need to take it to a sewing machine technician in order to repair it.
