Back in the early 70's every time I'd go to the store that sold this model I'd just stare and day dream of having this kit, but it was something like $10 or $12 and that was just an UNBELIEVABLE amount of money in those days and I just never could come up with that kind of scratch? Never did get one and now seeing it brought back a flood of memories! ☺

Loved reading your comment and know exactly that feeling from when I was a kid too. For me it was the 1:24 scale Airfix Spitfire. Still don't own one of them either! Hope you get your Fundecker and get to building it soon. :)

Absolutely a gorgeous build! I remember building the Deals Wheels Camaro in the 70’s. Good times.

I remember assembling this kit when I was 8 in 1971.
I distinctly remember the instructions telling me to scrape the chrome off areas that would be glued.
I learned a few kits before this one, that failing to scrape the chrome led to pieces popping apart.
The other memory that you sparked was of the original Testors model glue..
Getting loopy building a model was par for the course.
Oh, how I miss that glue.

I had forgotten about the Testors glue, but I use to use that Testors tube glue all the time as a kid too. I suspect the original formula probably caused a bit of a high if you used it for to long. Maybe that's why you miss it. :)

@@DansModelBench it's not that I used it to get high.
And I'd always open my windows.
I guess I've linked the smell to my youth, and happy carefree times.

they do pop up on ebay at a fair price regularly, I picked up a couple of the car kits for around $15 each, and I have seen both of the other planes, Lucky Pierre, and the messerschmitt for about the same prices as the cars.

Did they have a snoopy one also, that would make an awesome diorama.

Unfortunately no. I don't think they actually licensed this kit, so the famous black and white beagle was alluded to, but never actually shown in his entirety or mentioned by name. On the box top The Baron has just shot down a flying doghouse and there does appear to be a pair of white dog legs under a parachute, so you can draw your own conclusions at what they were hinting! I think if this was a brand new release now, that artwork wouldn't have got past the lawyers, but since its an old kit and no one put up a red flag at the time, its ok for this old kits reissue.
Originally there was also some other kits in the range. The ones I am aware of include Messa-Schnitzel (109E), Rif RAF and his Spitfire and Lucky Pierre and his Nieuport 17. I haven't seen the others as reissues for decades, so they are hard to find unbuilt. I also believe that at least one of the kits tooling has been lost. If you get a chance to get the Fundecker kit, I would recommend it, as it would make a great display model for the shop. You'll have to do quite a bit of sanding and polishing of the plastic before painting to get a nice finish, but that is the worst of it. Always gets a smile when people see it.
      Dan

It's a kids kit straight buid no airbrushing bright red finish flesh paint for face Black moustache non of these tints or shades built it in 74 it is not to be taken so seriously we didn't have anything more than Airfix paints and Humbrol 77 glue or a sharp knife then 🤔 classic then . Why didn't you go a bit further and brace the wings up just to make it fun with 5 wings 🙄

G'day Wendy. I thought it came out quite nice. Well at least it looks nice to me, as I have it on my entertainment unit. :)
