  • In The Boys season 4, we learn that Homelander is aging at around the same rate of a normal human. Both Stormfront and Solider Boy are aging at a much slower rate. This video goes over the reasons why and how Compound V plays a role.

      Considering how smart Stan is, I don't doubt that he knows Homelander was injected with an inferior version of Compund V specifically so that he doesn't become as unstoppable as Soldier Boy or Stormfront or even stronger than them. Yes, Homelander is stronger than both, but with his aging, it will eventually catch up to him.

    Dusty, a Gen V character, has the power of slow aging, and he got it from the same formula of compound V as almost everyone else in the shows got. Slow aging is just one of the powers that compound V can produce, but it's like flying - not everyone gets it. The only early supes that we see in the shows had slow aging, but that's not because all the early supes got it, it's because it's been long enough that all of the other early supes have died.

    In the former German Democratic Republic, there was a company that made glassware that was virtually unbreakable. It was named "Superfest" or "CV-Glas".
    After Germany's reunification, that company was liquidated, and the patent for that glas was abandoned - yet nobody is producing that type of glasware.
    The reason for that is simple: if you make glas that doesn’t break, you only sell it once. But if it breaks, then you also get to sell the replacement.
    Vought sells Compound-V. If it turns people into invulnerable supersoldiers who don't age, they only sell it once per soldier. If they sell an inferior version of the drug that needs to be applied on a regular basis, they can make more money. That was the entire rationale behind the development of V24, it's even explained in the show.

    Stormfront and Soldier Boy are the only supes created with Frederick Vought's original formula, which also gave immortality. For some reason, the original formula was either lost by Vought International or purposefully powered down, so supes weren't immortal anymore (maybe a security measure). Homelander was created using a special procedure that resulted in tue most powerful supe ever, but it still used the weaker formula.

    My guess is that stormfront is homelander’s mother or rather, genetic donor. Similar to soldier boy. They wanted the strongest super to ever live. Stormfront was a very versatile and powerful super, and the wife of Frederick Vought, who better to get a sample from? I believe they genetically choose the best trait from both but better. stormfront’s flight and plasma abilities and Soldier boy strength and durability. Homelander has both but better. He doesn’t need propulsion unlike stormfront and his plasma is instantaneous and more precise and he’s stronger and more durable than soldier boy, not to mention, faster.
    I personally think Homelander was the result of heavily tampering with his genetics. Neither Stormfront and soldier boy have blue eyes or blonde hair, its possible that because they were trying to create the ultimate American superhero they also altered his appearance to give him those physical traits, its also possible that those genes were present in either stormfront or soldier boys bloodline/ genetics and scientist would know this since they were studying their genetics to create homelander. Who knows how many changes they made to this man’s dna, but for sure it was heavily tampering considering he was considered sterile. I also think this contributes in some form to his mental instability, or in other words, they tampered so much of his DNA that it rendered him insane. He reminds me so much of William Dafoe’s green goblin in that aspect (that he hears voice, sees his reflection talking to him in the mirror etc.)
    Anyways, back to the topic, they combined the dna of the strongest supers alive and combined into a human being. So, they found a surrogate mother. Someone that won’t be missed if she’s gone. Then, they dosed him with V while he was still in the womb and this is why we’re told in the show he was born with powers and killed his surrogate mother. He hasn’t spent a second on earth being powerless.
    The problem is, how does 2 immortals, create a mortal? Simple. They don’t. The scientists that were making him turned the genes that make would make him immortal off. That is the contingency plan against him. Planned obsolescence. It just makes sense. They didn’t want to repeat the same mistake with Soldier boy and his immortality. They knew he would be powerful, and having and immoral being stronger than soldier boy and stormfront combined would be too much for vought to handle.

It’s a fun theory to think about but it’s already been debunked by the show itself.

  • @NewOrderOfAlexandria
    @NewOrderOfAlexandria 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +88

    My theory:
    Homelander was born with powers, so Compound V is part of his DNA, it ages with him as he clearly grew up from a baby and will also grow old alongside it. When a normal person take V their whole body's dna changes (sometimes resulting in horrific abominations) and stays that way. For Homelander it is simply part of his blood from birth and has no aging effects, he can reproduce other Supes naturally though, case in point his own son; Ryan - who has also grown up into a teenager throughout the series and will become a man and then old like everyone else.
    Second theory: Considering Temp V is a real thing in The Boys universe (giving Billy Butcher a brain tumour and insanity too) it could be Homelander's V isn't a permanent serum like the original heroes (soldier boy, etc) so maybe the show will end with Homelander losing his powers entirely which would be so satisfying imo. If Temp V made Billy crazy (talking to a darker version of himself) that could also explain why Homelander is also so unhinged, Billy is becoming Homelander and he is becoming Billy (slowly dying of temp V)

    • @wesbesttreacts4515
      @wesbesttreacts4515 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +30

    • @zombiedude101z
      @zombiedude101z 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This was my theory. Homelander was born, rather than being dosed with Compound V. So while Stormfront and Soldier Boy were enhanced by V and lucky enough to win the lottery of powers.
      Meanwhile, Homelander is the result of artificial insemination via Soldier Boy's sperm, and presumably got prodded and poked around in vitro to ensure he was a good specimen. It's likely that side effect of inheriting CompV via genetics rather than being dosed is being vulnerable to the aging process, at least in Homelander's case anyway.
      It is also plausible that Homelander's aging is by design, so that Vought could ensure eventually the next product can be rolled out at a suitable time.

      Hard to say whether or not Vought can make anti-aging V or not. My guess is they can not.
      I don't think it's just the cost.
      Because if they could make it, one of the more wealthy Vought CEOs would want to make it and take it.
      So the anti-aging superheroes, probably just Stormfront and Soldier Boy. (Unless there are others that got the same dose - that we don't know about.)
      Most current supes are going to age.
      But, response to the product is very individual.

    According to the comics the compound V that the old sups such as Stormfront and Soldier boy received was made from higher quality material which was of course more expensive and chances of survival in adults after injection was higher but the newer version was made from lower quality materials to reduce costs and it had some side effects such as lower survival rates in adults after injection which is why they inject them as infants so my personal theory is that because the old compound V was made of higher quality material it affected the aging process of some sups and I’m saying some sups because not all of them were immune to aging

    I think it’s either the trade off. That if you get infected as a kid you have a higher chance to survive, but you age because they are still growing. Stormfront and Solider Boy are both adults they were both fully developed adults so it interacted with their body differently.
    After all Homelander was injected as a fetus..if he ages slow he’d still be a toddler by the time of the Boys if not still an infant…same with all the 7 they’d all still be children if they all aged slow. So it could be by design if they inject children to increase the chance of survival..it’d be hundreds of years before their plan of the 7 would have ever been realized .

      Ionizing Radiation doesn't harm the supes, it's one of the many ways the Russians tried to kill soldier boy hence the reason he is radioactive.
      homelanders and soldier boys powers (besides the slow aging and flying) are very similar so it would be fair to assume that radiation would also have no effect on homelander also adding the fact that homelander was bred from soldier boys dna.
      I think a more reasonable explanation would be that compound v is a random lottery when it comes to how it affects people, some can fly, some cant, some age slow, the rest wont.

It would put an ironic dent on HL's fantasy on breeding "master race" supe babies with Maeve eggs; that "lesser" normal humans could be ageless, but he and his kids would wither and die. The original 1940s Compound V formula was lost or intentionally worsened by Vought and thus is less efficient at giving people powers, adults had a relatively high survival chance when injected with the original and perfected V formula, due to its chemical purity it had a much higher chance or any chance at all of causing longevity or immortality in a subject like we saw with Stormfront and Soldier Boy, who were both injected with the original V. The new stuff may almost be like a super steroid, long-term exposure such as having it circulate in your blood for 40 years may be causing a degradation of the body as it breaks down.

  • @sarveshkumar2683
    @sarveshkumar2683 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Can think a number of reasons all which contributed to this (the main point is 5th:
    1. Early Supes were selected as adults or were people close to the Vogelbaum team and given compound V. As it was administered to adults, in a way it acted like how Wolverine's healing factor got pumped after gaining adamantium. Compound V acted as making the human body perfect.
    2. Vought moved to giving compound V to babies later on because they wanted to show the world that Supes are natural-born unlike the first generation who could be said to have come out of hiding.
    3. Compound V acted even in babies to make them grow more perfect and with a healthy body and that means allowing it grow older, maybe even helping them grow faster physically. However, the anti-aging or healing properties were diminished because the compounds they intake were at birth. The more power the Supe uses, the lower the compound effect becomes.
    4. Even other members of the Seven looked old in season 1. But A-train who was a younger member than others who looked not only young but remained so because he was taking V even in adulthood.
    5. In accordance to point 2, Vought realized that their first batch of heroes were aging very slowly, with the Paycheck team still being active at such late age, particularly Soldier Boy and Stormfront. Vought realized two problems with them, one if Supes start becoming immortals, they will become Gods and will be really hard for them as a company to control. Second, humans might just rebel against the Supes en large if they see Supes not aging or trying to be god. Both cases becoming a loss for Vought

  • @volleyballDave

    I think the babies/children that received compound-V were still allowed to age because they still had to grow up... and the adults that received compound-V were allowed to slow their aging because they were already grown. But maybe later Vought chose to let 2nd generation supes age after they saw what fuck-ups the supes could be.
    BUT - in the s4 finale we see that Homelander has a ton of gray hairs... perhaps more than the usual 40 yr old. Stan may have been worried about making a supe that strong so they might have added faster aging so they wouldn't be stuck with a super strong man-child supe that nobody else could defeat.

They even contrast him with his son ryan to show ryan is much more youthful and perfect for an audience compared to homelander

      @@Shardso right his age is a big factor in the show, and the fact that he's worried about his own mortality, but that doesn't mean there's an increased aging factor aside from stress. He's worried about getting old, added on with everything else which is why it's being highlighted in the show like you said. This doesn't necessarily mean there's an reason he's aging faster other than stress.

    Homelander was a supe before being born and it was confirmed in season 4. He and his son are the first born super heros but homelanders son was the first natural born. People with v don't get more powers taking it instead they become stronger and get high off them.

    I like to think as a kind of headcanon somewhere out there in the infinite multiverse, there is a timeline where he does get the pure version and becomes comparable to Superman with the added bonus of no aging (basically the Plutonian).

    It’s a meta commentary of how long the show is taking, as you say it makes no sense, as Stormfront or Solider-boy, he should in theory be immortal, yet the actor is aging as the show is like 5 years old, and will probably take another or 2 more years 😂

  • @TheMattJacks

    It's called literary symmetry. Everyone self-actualizes their power set. Butcher became equal to his nemesis. Hughie became invisible and naked. Soldier boy and Stormfront didn't care about aging. Homey does. He is making himself age. Deep is very shallow. Probably called shallow all his life.

    I think the V they use in modern time , is much lower because they want supes to be like they born that way, so if all the supe live like 200 years it would make people say something about it

    I was thinking about this too, but I don't think its not a double edged sword. Homelander will get older but you notice how Homelander has similar issues as Billy and Soldier boy? Which is they all have mental degradation that makes them hear voices and devolve into paranoid delusions. Soldier boy clearly keeps tripping thinking he hears ppl who aren't around, and Billy had the parasite but Homelander, he's just mentally broken but could compound V be the reason theyre devolving as such

  • @khoile4271

    Actually, Soldier Boy calling Homelander a "cheap fucking knock-off" has multiple meanings if you think about it.
    1. In universe, Homelander got the mass produced, cheap Vought Corp compound V vs the pure, concentrated version made by hand by Doctor Vought that Soldier Bly and Stormfront had.
    2. Outside the universe, Homelander really is a cheap knock-off of Superman, just like almost every other Supe that are direct parodies of existing superheroes. Opposite from his dad, an UPGRADE from Cap. America, being the iirc only Supe more powerful than the hero they're parodying at baseline.
    3. In universe again, and other people have said this, there is a decent probability that Soldier Boy is actually quite a bit stronger than Homelander.
    Proof: In the first fight between SB, HL, and Butcher, SB had just fired his most powerful Radiation Beam up to that point, and the show repeatedly shows us SB weakened after every radiation blast, so SB was fighting HL not at full power. Also, Butcher, roided up with Temp V, developed levels of strenght and endurance that's somewhat on par with HL, we see them exchange blows back and forth with no sign of each of them weakening after every hit. That detail is important, because, in the finale fight between SB and The Boys, he was laying them to waste, and especially, clearly overpowering a Temp V amped Butcher, the same Temp V Butcher that fought HL to a stalemate. So, it's not that much of a stretch to say that had HL not been preoccupied with Queen Maeve and went out to fight SB, he would've gotten a beating like how Butcher would have.
    Man, Homelander can't catch a break...

    A person such as Homelander, with such abilities, should and would be a ticking time bomb, and the scientists that raised him knew this very well. So, they had to create possible contingency plans not one, but more than one including his normal human-like aging, since other supes can possibly be neutralized without much hassle. As for Stormfront, well, she was not made under the supervision of THE AMERICAN PATRIOTISM, though contingencies such as American supes were taken into account

    In genv the metal bender guy is shown light headedness comes early than his father ... I also believe that he is stronger than his father at metal bending but I can't prove that yet ... which may conclude that although next generations of supes that has a parental relation to their powers they become stronger as compound v becomes more effective which also means double the side effects ... I believe also the show kinda foreshadowed that in rayn but I still can't confirm on that theory.

    Stormfront and Soldierboy don't age *slowly* they just don't age at all since taking the serum. They were given the serum as adults not babies. Homelander is a unique case with the experiments on him as well as Ryan being a unique case given no serum but the rest of the supes were given a different serum than the original which was given to Soldierboy and Stormfront. Also I would say Soldierboy is stronger than Homelander. I don't know if his raw durability and strength is higher but his ability to remove others powers permanently is something Homelander just doesn't have and Soldierboy is strong enough that Homelander could not easily overpower him so definitely think Soldierboy could beat Homelander if they just had a 1v1 fight. It did take Homelander, Butcher, and Maeve to take down Soldierboy.
