Thanks for this Video. The Shim Came with my felony in a small bag. Im new to dealing with RC Car, i'm more familiar with drones. when i got this car i was like oh hell! what did i get myself into. The shims that came with the arrma is ARA709031, and without this video I'd be lost.

Nice video. I'm replacing diff and input with GP5 and the Horizon Hobby how-to video has camerawork that would make Bigfoot videos blush. You can't see a damn thing in Horizon's video, pardon my French. Horizon gets an A for effort, Traxxas aint gonna release a video walking you thru how to customize your ride, but the execution is abysmal. Your video actually helped, and i could see enough of the car, and your descriptions of what you were doing. Please note: I'm not slamming your footage. It's gotta be a b*tch and a half to wrench on things with a camera in the way. Very helpful video. Thanks a million. With a few more steps, I'll be running 4 same-sized GRPs on my Felony, and no paying out the ass for rear Hoons that last 2 battery packs.

@@camaroboy383 You know what funny, I just recieved my felony today and first thing i did was open up the rear diff. @@camaroboy383 dude just bought you rear bumper on ebay so excited to install it. Also ive been doing speed runs on the stock16t pinion and getting consistent 77.3mph top speeds??? I have a hard time believing it cause everyone else cant get more than 60-65 on stock gearing. Oh i also set the punch ip to 6 and the timing up to 26 not sure if thats enough to make up for 10-15 mph though? I mean i not complaining but i think ive got myself a special felony😁
i recently just got my Arrma infraction v2 and mine came with shims in the tool bag and I was curious if I should go ahead and add them to the diffs or not?
Yes, unfortunately that is a characteristic of this rig due to the gearing choices in the diffs.. I don't believe they truly thought it all the way through.. If you do the calculations for roll out, the front is slightly over driven.. I believe this is most of the issue with the rear stepping out so easily... A good majority of felony owners swap out the diffs.. either run both front gear sets, or both rear gear sets... Typically people gravitate towards using 2 front gear sets solely due to achieving the highest top speed out of them.. In the end either will work.. At that point you can run all the same size tire.. But with the felony rear being a different offset some other parts need to be changed to make the rear wheel offset match the wheel wells while using the 42/100 hoons all the way around... You would need kraton hubs, stub axles and hex's in the rear.. This will step the wheel and tire out enough where it doesn't look crazy when the body is mounted... You could also avoid the extra kraton parts by using the new proline proxes tire set... I'm not sure they are available quite yet but that would be the best route as far as offset for the rear.. There is also another option for gearing that would cost you no money besides shim's.. you can swap the input gears from front to rear, but this takes some patients and quite a bit of shimming to make happen... I've seen it done successfully, but I've personally never ventured that route.. So the last thing that does help to some degree is adding weight to the rear of the rig, it does help to keep the rear planted a little better.. I hope this helps you in some degree.. I appreciate you stopping in to comment ✌️......
funny cause mine has never had any diff issues ( ive even thicken up the oil) and mine is so tight without any shims its hard to get it in, literally impossible to get a shim in there tired many sizes and spent a good hour lol i got mine in 2021 and its orange but it should be the same no..?
Yes, they are all the same diff housings, and diffs... The factory now included them in the box, they did that shortly after the release.. It is quite rare for any arrma diff to NOT require shimming.... Definitely more crucial on the larger tire bashers like the kraton, outcast, but not uncommon at all for any of them to be shimmed... Really the only time I've seen them tight is if the diff was put in the housing backwards, or there were already shims present in the stack.. When you do the backlash check was there any?
To make them more durable..👍.. more tooth contact spreads the load throughout the face of the tooth reducing stress on the tips of the teeth.. typically when you see a ring (crown) gear or pinion (input) gear that has been damaged you will notice half of several teeth will be broken off..✌
@@tropicthunderbolt for me it is much better... the 500k center let's the car take advantage of the 7% front overdrive so it helps pull itself out of the drifts/slides..same applies to the front being thicker, more even distribution helping pull the rig along... The 50k in the rear was a good decision for drifting and straight line passes.. it is more predictable.. The felony is loose in the rear end, so suspension is a huge deal as well.. the rear stays more planted if you adjust the camber for the most tire contact patch... adding weight in the rear of the car helps as well.. 👍
