    Love small streams like these, reminds me of when I fished as a kid with my big bro, and I like how you share without giving up the spots like some of the other local guys; obviously it’s about the experience & some pointers in your approach. I found that on my home waters, spots that are advertised by fellow TH-camrs like yourself, have people bunching up now which is unfortunate because things are crowded enough, even more so with the pandemic. Btw watched it on the fly (pun intended) so may have missed it but what was the new pattern you were trying in the beginning? Tight lines & keep ‘em coming.

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I just don't think mentioning stream names (especially small streams) helps any cause. I don't believe I was trying a new pattern. I mentioned the simple baetis that I was using at the beginning and the pheasant tail.

    Great catches as alway you still using the 20lb amnesia or back on the 15lb .

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I'm actually testing out the 10lb again since a lot of people were asking why I use 20#. I'm liking the 10#, but again I'm also realizing why I liked the 20# so much. There are pros and cons to both.

    How do you like your shadow X? I plan on getting that model for general contact nymphing on small streams like this one, but also some larger rivers.

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love it! Definitely recommend it.

  • @wvbrookchub
    @wvbrookchub 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I notice your pointer finger is above the half wells grip, is this because of balance or a personal preference? I always find my self gripping above the cork on my shadow II because of the balance.

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's more to help drive the flies down on casts and for accuracy. Where ever the finger is point the flies tend to go.

    What net is that? I’ve been looking for a good rubber net. Mine is rubber but it has really tiny holes and it’s really thin rubber so some of it ripped already

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have it linked in my video descriptions. It's an Aventik carbon fiber net. I had the FishPond Nomad net, but lost it one day and this was a half prices alternative. It's very strong, the only thing that sucks is the paint job. It chips easily, but the rubber and net frame are built well.

  • @MarkRambo1
    @MarkRambo1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Have you noticed much difference switching to the thinner mono? Is it harder to cast?

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like it. I still like the 20# for its pros as well. I'd say it's only harder to cast beyond 20 feet. The 20# is still better for wind and distance nymphing.
