Thank you for sharing your knowledge, along with your patience. you give a lot of ity bitty pointers, that a novice like myself would have no way of knowing. Thank you, thank you from AU.
Just a big thank you for explaining how to make the the beautiful shank taking the time to show all the processes in a clear way being a complete novice it's really helpful i Will be following the rest of the videos thanks Regards Paul BB in UK
You are seriously one of the best teachers I’ve ever watched! Thank you so much for your patience and dedication and heart that you put into these videos and your jewelry is beautiful. Blessings!
Mr. Hartman, I respect whst you guys do so much. As a native American Diné jewelry artist, you do a lot to bring our native jewelry into the market and contribute a lot to our recognition as artists ...thsnks Mr. Hartman.
John, I never thought I would be capable of doing this. I don't know any silversmiths, or any jewelers but I got started on my own just a couple months ago. And tonight I just finished my first turquoise ring thanks to you and your awesome tips. Thank you! You are a true blessing! My journey has begun ..
I could watch you for hours, and days, and still learn something else! Seriously the best/ most thorough teacher of the details, glitches and more!! Keep’m coming…please. Just starting out so don’t have all that polishing equipment and supplies…this an extremely expensive endeavor❣️
I've watchad a lot of video's about jewelry making and in my humble opinion- you are the best teacher!! You speak plainly and knowledgeably- and I love your tips!
Thank you for your teaching style. I am excited to start my smithing journey. I am still watching and learning. I have made one ring in a class taught by a wonderful lady. We did the wire solder, however it was a solid ring shank. Had it been a split shank, I think this method is the way to start learning!
This was a very interesting series to watch. I really enjoyed it. I made a ring using most of these steps in junior high school and had forgotten all about it until I watched this. I’m now 63
So interesting I never thought there was so much work involved The man is a pro he must have done this so many times!!! The ring is nice and the stone a beautiful color Thank you
Great video. Thank you. I'm just learning silversmithing. I fell in love with the process in college after taking two courses and always wanted to get back to it. Your video was very informative and easy to follow and gave me a lot of good ideas I haven't yet learned. I just made a two prong ring shank ring and spent a lot more time than I needed to filing and sanding the prongs. I can see that it would have looked good without.
Subscribed! So much intense labor for one ring. Now I appreciate the work that goes in. Thank you for a great demo! Your tools are so wonderful. Love watching lapidary and jewelry work. Exciting to make miniature works of wearable art.
Amazing to watch. Thank you. I must say you have a lot of specialized equipment that took years to accumulate!..It’s a huge work shop !The advice you give on tools needed is really helpful to aspiring Jewelry makers.. and very generous of you to share🙏🏼
Excellent videos! Thankyou! I learned so many time saving methods to making beautiful handmade silver jewelry! I appreciate your sharing your knowledge with us.
Beautiful! As a newbie, I’m kind of overwhelmed by all the polishing steps. I don’t have any of those polishing machines. Other than a Dremel. Could you make a video for how to polish your finished piece without all of the equipment?
Mr Hartman, thank you so much for all your amazing videos. I want to get into silver jewelry making as a hobby at some point but love to do "research" first. I have learned so much by watching/listening to your amazing skills and knowledge. Thank you so much!
I like the idea of the raindrops but when I bought the casting grains, they’re different sizes I’m not completely round. What is the mill you’re talking about?
Hi! Awesome video! Thank you! I noticed when you added the twisted wire tightly that you left scratches on the bezel. I didn't see how you got those out without taking too much metal off of your bezel. I've been making my really tight as you suggest, but getting those scratches out. Yikes! Thank you for your help!
Thank you for sharing your process. I learn a lot of great techniques and tips. Can you please tell me what that tool is that you use for your buffing wheels to true them up again? Thank you! 😊👍🏼
Thank you for your time to help beginners like me. I loved this series of videos. What is the Dremel bit holder on your bench called? I would love to be able to purchase one. The more organized my bench is the better I work.
Hello Very clear tutorials, but I have a question. If I solder a bezel cup on the plate ( brass to brass) then my solder seam ( bezel) get open. What am I doing wrong? I am an absolute beginner but I love it;) Thank you for an answer. Britt
I love your videos, thank you for making them. What rpm do your buffing wheels run at? I have a couple that I want to set up like yours, but im afraid they run too high. Also, I love how you have color coded your different buffing and polishing stations.
I use some fine silver wire, just a ring around the inside of the bezel (sterling may tarnish and there is no way to polish it after your stone is set). If your stone is set unevenly you can place wire on just one side. No need to solder it in. The size of wire depends on how much you want to raise it.
These have been fantastic, thank you so much for sharing them! There are a few things I wish i could ask you questions about. Do you ever list the tools and materials you use in the videos? Thanks so much again :)
I love your videos i have started wire soldering, thanks to you!! where can i purchase the mill grain too to separate the different sizes of casting grain?
How do I set and elevate a transparent yellow tourmaline cabochon? Do I just polish the silver plate and add a cut out of silver plate to use it to elevate the stone? Please advise.
Hello guys, Thanks for the videos! They help a lot and enjoy how you present the work. I have one question. I recently purchased Win-Ox and it says you got to mix it with another chemical? Any ideas on how to do that? I’m a bit confused. Any help will be appreciated
Metal stamp with 925 on it. Same process he used to stamp his company name on the silver plate (John may have both company name and 925 on the stamp he used).
What is 'Joy'? Is it a kitchen detergent or a non foaming detergent for jewellery similar to that which is used in jewellery tumblers? another question: I see that you have a little square-ish container containing a yellowish liquid. I used to use one as a dispenser for soft solder resin flux remover years ago but I haven't seen one for ages. Would you mind telling me where you got it please?
Joy soap is dishsoap. It is harder to find this brand, but it seems to work better than others for jewelry. The square container I bought from Rio Grande Jeweler's supply. Don't buy the cheap one. Go for the more expensive one.
Where do you buy your Cocker-Weber brushes? I don't have polishing equipment yet, I'm using my rotary tool to polish. Do you know what smaller brush would be comparable to the b29? Thank you
I am a pro Native American silver smither but i still learn a lot from this guy. Thank you 👍.

Great series John. Good tips. Like the tip about getting designer holes in my jeans. Hope you continue doing these video's.
Designer holes, grease contaminant on your fingers from that bacon you ate... It's all real.
Amazing to watch. Thank you. I must say you have a lot of specialized equipment that took years to accumulate!..It’s a huge work shop !The advice you give on tools needed is really helpful to aspiring Jewelry makers.. and very generous of you to share🙏🏼
Excellent work..I’m just wondering what happened to the 6 gauge half round wire that you made in the first part of this series
John love all your videos so informative

I found it at Thunderbird supply! :)
I like the idea of the raindrops but when I bought the casting grains, they’re different sizes I’m not completely round. What is the mill you’re talking about?
Thank you for your teachings. How much do you sale a ring like that?
Have you tried Menserna buffing compounds?
Any advice on pricing for a ring like that?
is Hyfin good for prepolish before Zam??
What do you use to strain out the different sizes of casting grain? I was unable to understand what you said.
Hi! Awesome video! Thank you! I noticed when you added the twisted wire tightly that you left scratches on the bezel. Thats a great video, how much could you sell that ring for?
Hi
Thank you for sharing! Where do you recommend purchasing a makers mark?
Where did you get your mill grain casting tool? Certainly would be handy to have but can't find one.

This dremel is my favorite. It is a Bresseler USA Upower UP500

What kind of tweezers are best for dealing with hot metal?
Where can I buy the gloves that you are using?
I love your videos, thank you for making them. What rpm do your buffing wheels run at? I have a couple that I want to set up like yours, but im afraid they run too high. Also, I love how you have color coded your different buffing and polishing stations.
When you come to the sawdust part, what if your stone is translucent and not opaque? What would you do to level/raise it in that case?
I use some fine silver wire, just a ring around the inside of the bezel (sterling may tarnish and there is no way to polish it after your stone is set). If your stone is set unevenly you can place wire on just one side. No need to solder it in. The size of wire depends on how much you want to raise it.
@@lorikell6216 Excellent! Thanks so much!! Thanks for clarifying the Fine Silver choice as I would have defaulted to Sterling, not thinking. :)))
These have been fantastic, thank you so much for sharing them!

I have a problem when I try to get ring shank that all the ends to sit flat and often have one that didnt solder , any suggestions what I should do?
how do you determine retail price ?
It just occured to me,i always wondered why they use such heavy silver ? because it does'nt burn up like the light stuff!
How do you stamp the 925 on a piece?
Metal stamp with 925 on it. Same process he used to stamp his company name on the silver plate (John may have both company name and 925 on the stamp he used).
