1:42 I'm pretty sure the ultrabuild Star Wars sets explicitly failed because they simply weren't capable of competing with normal figures of the characters, which were less expensive, less prone to the loss of small parts, more durable, _and_ more accurate.
Ben, I’ve been watching Lego content on TH-cam since I was probably 10 years old. I’m now 23 years old. I remember a few years into my adventure of creating and enjoying my own/others creations, I came across your channel. I always enjoyed your content and I remember you, Callan, Shadowgear, biorockdude, etc. All of you were the only thing that would pop up into my feed for years to come. Now, having fallen for it if Lego I was pleasantly surprised to see your content pop back up in my feed just yesterday. I have been thoroughly enjoying your content since then. So TLDR, your videos popping up fills me with nostalgia and you’re doing great!
Damn I am still salty over the fact that they canceled the CCBS Super Battle Droid and the 501 Trooper with the Scoutwalker. They sounded and looked so promising. Thos that want to see for themselfes here are the Set numbers, 75536 (Super Battle Droid) and 75539 ( 501 AT-RT Walker). And dont get me started on the new parts that woudlve come with the Droid...
It’s kinda crazy how he is as tall as my Icarax despite having those legs that are always bended (due to the technic parts) I can only imagine how tall he’d be if you redesigned them to extend fully.
I have the set! An incredible set with a lot of crazy pieces! In the beginnings of the creation of Ehlistar, I used this specific set as inspiration for the vision
I’ve had my Grievous kept together for over 3 years. And I never get tired of seeing him on my dresser in all of his epic detail. I even moved a claw to the back of the feet as well as added a claw to the outer side of each foot. I switched the back and chest pieces, as I found it looked better. Lastly… I took some fabric from an old Batman Cape I had YEARS ago, and made it into a removable Cape. And it looks fantastic
The frame of him is also very good for builds and super easy to replicate. The build for the legs is a phenomenal 2 knee joint leg and is awesome for certain builds too!
This is thw latest lego set i have, got it when it released, which i find funny. Love how posable he is, doesn't lose too bad even to years of advancements.
I never got any of the Star Wars Ultrabuild characters because I knew I'd have to collect them all, mainly because I did that with the old Technic Figures and I was doing that with Microfighters, too. Last thing I needed was more stuff, especially at the prices they were. I'm content with the 2008 Grievous set 10186, limited his articulation may be. I had to build a whole clear support structure at the hips to keep him upright. He's so top top heavy. One click from standing up straight to giving him a slight hunch nearly makes him fall over, but he looks stupid any other way, and you still have to have something in front of him because his legs are parallel to one another, so he still looks a bit silly. Now if I am looking at the CCBS version from a set perspective, I don't know, he might be a bit too bulky for the character despite all the empty bones, too. I won't lie, he looks cool, but he still differs too much for me. The area around the head and the head look the best, but everything else, I don't know. I support Constraction fans' admiration of the set, but it really is more about the parts and not the character, and from my point of view, there's just something off, and I think it is the legs just being so thick. Maybe it's more of a thing where I need to get my own hands on a copy to really appreciate, but when I'm looking at the images online, I'm kind of liking most of the other characters more. I am a bold one.
This was the set I wanted to get after a long time of not buying any lego. Asked my parents to get it for my bd, but they just looked at me funny for wanting lego again. In the end I got some small lego city set..
Man, after seeing this I feel like I gotta get a second Lego buildable figure of General Grievous. I remember first getting him a long while back. I've been interested in recreating some people's Bioformers and some of my own Bionicles in the future. I'm looking to see if someone turned Grievous into a Bioformer.
I really really wish I never tore him apart when I had him all those years ago Yes, I did get to use the pieces I managed to keep in my bionicle mocs, but still, he looks amazing and I wish I kept it together
It seems alot of people agree, when it came out I wasnt able to get one anywhere being sold out in even the lego brand stores. Same deal with Commander Cody.
what i prefer abt the old lego bionicle pieces more that u had more deep designchoises and if u managed to make a good moveable conection and structure even more awesome when it matched with nice design ^^
Man all my MOC's are just like the normal CCBS skeleton with just different armor and things, my most out there was the monster I made with special legs, meanwhile my friend took my spare pieces and made a guy with wings and a tail
Bionicle needs to come back with an even more comprehensive system of technic, CCBS, and detail parts. I feel CCBS brought so much to building but also was too held back by things like the exposed ball joints, empty backs, and odd gaps in builds detract from the overall designs. More parts that feature more classic bionicle connections, more pieces that don’t use ball joints on both ends that rather use axles on either or both ends, more varied or assorted body frames (imagine putting together different torso and shoulder ratios via axles and/or pins), more varied torso and shoulder designs via technic assemblies, etc.
I kinda don't like the hands & Lightsabers Grievous uses Lightsabers of other fallen Jedi, so why not make the Lightsabers a bit unique? Like different Hilt arrangements Also the standard CCBS hands kinda looks off for him. Especially when you go into 2 arm mode.
I've been slowly getting the old technic star wars sets that were released between 2001 and 2003. Those sets looked janky but are far superior to most of the ccbs star wars sets we got. Making humans in the ccbs style was a mistake in my opinion.
Kinda wish they did more cis droids i mean you need a skeleton with a few armor bits here and there cause most droids being b1 and 2 and other types all share the same skeletal build
Considering Grievous is like 90% robot, it's logical a version of him made in ccbs would look good.
Loved this guy back when he came out; the boney nature of ccbs definitely added to his appearance
It took me long to take this guy apart for parts.
To me, that speaks volumes for how much I loved this set.
I will forever miss CCBS/Bionicle

I think K2SO’s design also was complemented by the CCBS system

Unironically a Bionicle set in spirit and construction.
This was a brilliant episode, thank you for the parts discussion to demonstrate different use of parts and alternative builds.

Agreed! They would have been incredible sets! Such a shame
I'm currently doing a revamp of this set! Love to see that more people like it too

I've used this set's pieces in a lot of MOCs.

I think General Grevious is the single highest concentration of tan parts in a constraction set.
The way he pronounced "Belial" gave me a good chuckle.
I wanna see an Anakin minifigure say to this “General Grievous, you’re shorter than I expected.”
This is thw latest lego set i have, got it when it released, which i find funny. Love how posable he is, doesn't lose too bad even to years of advancements.
Imagine panel lining this general grievous model to. It would look even better than it already does.
I bought this as a kid and kept it and still love it. My mom wasn’t a fan since it was 40$ at the time but I went all in.
I Love General Grevious Moc, Specially the mocs and himselg, I wish Lego went back to bionicle styles and made this Official unique grievous

This and the k2so were easily the best of these buildable figures
They must’ve waited till I was done buying LEGO to release this set.
Man, i really wish lego dodnt give up on ccbs
ccbs sets like bionicle and hero factory were ultimate goats
Seems like one of the oddly rare cases they put the system to much better use than fairly simple humanoid figures.
That awkward moment when Lego Grievous looks more intimidating than live action Grievous
Whoa, they even included the pegs to allow linking / splitting his arms?
They should've made CCBS droids like B1s or B2s, etc
I have this set and I love it so much, i even made a custom cape for him
I got this set then bought a custom cape for him.
It looks amazing.
I still say a CCBS Gundam would be absolutely amazing
I still got mine displayed tall and proud right next to Darth Vader. I didn’t quite care for the legs so I modified them for better posability.
I really really wish I never tore him apart when I had him all those years ago
Yes, I did get to use the pieces I managed to keep in my bionicle mocs, but still, he looks amazing and I wish I kept it together
i wish i existed earlier in the 2000s
What about Sean Mattews's general grievous moc?
It seems alot of people agree, when it came out I wasnt able to get one anywhere being sold out in even the lego brand stores. Same deal with Commander Cody.
My ideas exactly!
My favorite CCBS is the witch doctor, I really need to just buy it
what i prefer abt the old lego bionicle pieces more that u had more deep designchoises and if u managed to make a good moveable conection and structure even more awesome when it matched with nice design ^^
It helps that grievous is a lot more mechanical
I used his body as the base for a massively upgraded version of my own character
Man all my MOC's are just like the normal CCBS skeleton with just different armor and things, my most out there was the monster I made with special legs, meanwhile my friend took my spare pieces and made a guy with wings and a tail
I had this set a long time ago but the parts are everywhere and I can't even find the other 3 lightsabers😭
Man this set is so cool 10 out of 10 for me 🆒😎👌💎💰💸

I can’t even remember how many times I’ve cannibalised my old greivous to make mecha c monster, robots, ect
Drinking game: take a shot everytime he says CCBS.
GOOD LUCK! *Lifts glass*
Grievous and other cybernetic droid like characters are the best working characters for the CCBS line
This includes Vader btw.
Give me link and I'm buying it
I kinda don't like the hands & Lightsabers
Grievous uses Lightsabers of other fallen Jedi, so why not make the Lightsabers a bit unique? Like different Hilt arrangements
Also the standard CCBS hands kinda looks off for him. Especially when you go into 2 arm mode.
I wanted this so much :(
Today I got a bionicle lot with a single general greifis head no other parts from him just his head
I just got this set for my birthday and then this comes out so can everyone clap 👏
👇
👏👏👏
I will FOREVER be upset this line was stuffed was terrible human characters, being cancelled right before they released a Super Battle Droid.
I've been slowly getting the old technic star wars sets that were released between 2001 and 2003. Those sets looked janky but are far superior to most of the ccbs star wars sets we got. Making humans in the ccbs style was a mistake in my opinion.
Hi can you do like a yugioh moc episode? already submitted mine
I'll add it to the list
Cool
Kinda wish they did more cis droids i mean you need a skeleton with a few armor bits here and there cause most droids being b1 and 2 and other types all share the same skeletal build
I don't think anyone's jumping the gun from ccbs to hot toys
Tbh this desigm is really buff, general grievous? More like general gainvous
Lol I own ccbs general grievous
Belial is pronounced Be-Lie-L not belly-ah.
