- Finally my new Porsche 911 Turbo S has been detailed and PPF application completed by NVN London - Just in time to film the first drive video. With a focus on perfecting the paint on the new 911 Turbo S before applying the PPF we spend some time with Afer - our head detailer at NVN London to share the inside tricks on how we get the Porsche paint looking perfect before protecting it with the paint protection film!

Mr J - This 911 Turbo S is perfect aside from one somewhat significant detail. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING is perfect except for those tailpipes. I'm such a huge fan of the quad "trapezoid" pipes and make the car look so mean. Aside from that this is my dream car and the one car I'd buy if I could get any ONE. You're a hero and my pipe dreams are your reality and happy you get to live this life. Good on you, sir!! Keep bringing out the great content!
A great detail prior to PFF is definitely a must. The 992 TTs is looking great!
How do you wash a Ferrari Monza without getting the interior wet ?
Maybe just use a wet cloth?

I’d love to know that too. I have hear the Jesko has possibly the best paint ever done. But I’d like to know over all. I’m sure Porsche is very high up there. Along with Audi. But I’m biased ;)

Detailer here. German paint is generally quite good. Lexus also do excellent paintwork especially there tri coat colors.
Mazda and Mercedes are by far the worst followed closely by VW/Audi
venom5809 Mercedes are hands down the worst. I’ve never worked on a Merc that had the right colour on the bumpers.

I was not a Porsche 911 fan till this very model. It's the headlights I never liked. Heritage I know. What can I say, I also hate the horseshoe grille on Bugatti's. Huge 911 slant nose fan though. This new 911. WOW. Just WOW all around. Even the headlights work for me so they just bent all the right lines on this one. That paint color is gorgeous! Add a little red to the interior and yep. Everyday supercar ready for whatever you want to through at it. Amazing car.

I've a deposit down on a new Turbo S, expected delivery mid 2021. Mine will be in GT Silver. I understand the need for this level of detailing on dark coloured cars as they show everything but I'm putting that money into functional/performance options on the car itself. Despite the car being v.expensive, I'm not precious enough to go full hog on detailing and ppf. I have ticked the 'Protective foil' option from Porsche which should protect the front for me and coupled with the Silver colour, I am hoping that I've done enough.
Such a superb colour, im a fan and had/custom spec'd not on your level car but met blues and yellow calipers. Current 595 had both. Do love the cleaning, mine if a special car needs your NVM treatment.

Looks like gentian blue it’s a beautiful colour
When paint looks this good, it makes it hard to choose. Personally, I'm not a fan of dark colors. Maimi Blue and Lava Orange Porsches are hard to beat. White is also ever so classy in my opinion. (And my LAST shoot-me-in-the-head color? Silver. YUCK! I am SO SICK of silver Porsches. WAY too many of this color [of any hue "light or dark ugly!"] produced over the years. Turns my stomach.)

I would check with porsche on PPF on the lights. As far as I know they say you must not do it. I've heard of the plastic delaminating if the PPF is removed. That can be a bit expensive too.

I thought Porsche doesn’t allow shops to apply PPF to their headlights. When I was getting quotes from different shops for my 992, they all said they couldn’t wrap the headlights because Porsche doesn’t allow it. Idk if its a warranty thing or what
Same here. Had front end ppf on 981 Spyder and shop wouldn’t do the headlights for same reason. 🤔

Dear Mr JWW, in the good old days, flatting and polishing to remove "all" the orange peel used to be a part of the painting process. So essentially all new cars are supplied with the paintwork half done, and the customer has to take it to someone like yourself or Topaz and have the job finished.

I've noticed that the dirt nibs used to be down to 5 microns
I could look into the peel and then look into the peel of the peel. At that point I can see 5 microns
One Dodge Charger I looked at it had thousands of dirt nibs. If you didn't know what to look at. You would never know.
Today's cars have 10-15 microns even in Audi's or Volvos. I would get my ass chewed if I missed nibs like that.
I use 1500 grit, 3000grit, 5000 grit and finally 8000 grit. I recommend System 51 polish. You don't need anything except wax or glaze.

Great video and awesome car. Quick question, what are you using for PPF for the LED lens units? I am taking delivery of a GT4 soon and my detailer says that he cannot PPF the lens unit because he has seen it can damage the lens if the PPF is ever removed. He mentioned the lens could be, for lack of a better word, delaminated. Given the cost to replace these LED lens units I want to find a solution to protect them.

Does NVN London remove trace DNA? Because that's one of the cleaning steps NASA performs, among others.

I always wonder about the detail on the edges of panels like doors, filler cap flap, , boot etc, and what of the door sills/frames and pillars...?
Surely they need the same attention...other wise when ever you open a door - less than perfect paint is stareing at you....???
