    • @aigo1978
      @aigo1978  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You are right. At the 20 000 km, when I changed the chain, I'm also checked the condition of the rear sprocket. It was not in bad condition. In that case, next check is in 40 000km when is recommendation to change all the chain set. It means, change the chain and front/rear sprocket. All what I'm telling here is not from my head. It is information from BMW authorization service in Czech Republic. I dont know if in other countries are different schedulled maintanance rules. I'm following this recommendatin despite the fackt that all BMW parts are really expensive.

    • @aigo1978
      @aigo1978  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought it at the our local CZ eshop, it is: KTW 2.5 130.150, and Kellermann 130.100. But I had to use shorter screw which I bought in hobby market and did the hole to it. You will see when You will try what I mean. It is hard to explain.

  • @RICHARD.WRIGHT1

    Hey there, great video and thanks for sharing it. What do the spacers do exactly? the ones you removed after closing the new chain, are they to stop the new chain links from becoming blocked and making the chain stiff? PLUS, do they come with the chain?, and finally, what is the chain opening tool you used, looks pretty good quality. Thankyou very much.

    • @aigo1978
      @aigo1978  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello. The spacers are having the reason exactly as you described. It came with chain joint: 27727720938. The chain tool I used is Kellermann KTW 2.5, + Kellermann 130.230 + I had to make new shorter screw. The standard size in the chain set is too long. The chain is in the box with oil, there is not free space for such long screw because distance between chain and the rear side of chain cover is only few centimeeters. I bought new screw in the hobbymarket, made it shorter and drilled the hole in the front end same as the standard screw in the chain tool. Because of that extra work I can not recommend that tool for this scooter, but the quality of the tool is great and it works as designed.

    Hello, I drive a BMW C650GT and would like to tighten my chain.
    Where and how can I tighten my chain?
    Is there a special operation needed for that.
    At the BMW dealer, they told me that the chain must be renewed at 10000KM, is that right?
    I would like to hear an answer from you.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @aigo1978
      @aigo1978  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. I am afraid that there is no any tighten mechanism similar as other motorbikes. I followed recommendation in 20k km change the chain. At 40k km is good to think about the chain and the sprocket set. I dont have the motorbike for more than one year so I changed the chain in 20k km. But the price for the service interval in 40k km is so high in my country, it was better for me to sell the motorbike before this level will be reached.

    Hi, at how many kilometer did you change the chain?

    • @aigo1978
      @aigo1978  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      hi, BMW recomending at 20 000 Km. I have 22 000 and the old chain was (only by my opinion) quite OK for maybe more then 10 000 Km. You can easily check the chain sag when you dismount the black plastic cover marked with the text "BMW" which is directly on the aluminium chain cover. Behind it is possible to see the chain throu the small hole. Take screwdriver and try to lift the chain. Recomendation is, distance between bottom black plastic slider and bottom part of chain shouldnt be more than 1,5 cm. But it is BMW recomendation which is very strict. Keep your mind up. If you will think it is too saggy. Replace it. I measured the new chain sag (after replacement) and I had about 1,5 cm with the new chain :)
