    I was an alcoholic, and a heavy drug user, and I never treated anyone like that. People with bad intentions blame alcohol, and drugs, but those things just make you uninhibited to do the things you really want to do.

    • @justinmix143
      @justinmix143 ปีที่แล้ว

      You "were" an alcoholic? And heavy drug user? Sorry you nitwit, but anybody who's simply aware of the very first thing there is to know about addiction is that there is no such thing as "having been" an alcoholic or drug addict. If you really are one, you're one for life. There is no cure. Only the hope to arrest active use/addiction, but anyone who archives this does so only by knowing they will always be an alcoholic/addict. So if you stopped drinking and think that makes you no longer an alcoholic, you never were one. Which is a stupid thing to try and brag about or falsely claim anyway. Just be GLAD you're not and be quiet 🤐

      100% Correct. I am a heroin addict. I have been using daily for ten years and i have never stolen from anyone. Nor have I engaged in any scum bag like behaviour. An addiction is like somebody who acquires power over other people. It doesn't change a person like people think it does, it reveals the true character of someone. Congrats on the sobriety by the way, keep it up!. I hope to get there myself oneday.

    • @Van420Dal
      @Van420Dal 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

      That's literally called addiction. Do any reading about addiction and that is the story for the majority of addicts. You have to understand that they aren't consciously making the decision to ignore the chances they've been given. Addiction creates compulsion it literally short circuits the brain and skips the prefrontal cortex leading to extremely impulsive decision making. If you're a serious addict going completely untreated it doesn't surprise me that he started making very odd sexual advances towards people because his inhibition circuit in his brain is just completely fried. This dude needs to be institutionalized for a serious length of time to have any chance at becoming a normal human again.

      @@Van420Dal nah f that. I was an addict, a BAD one, for many many years. I abused literally every drug except for meth. Primarily heroin/fentanyl/opioids and benzos, and also cocaine. But I’ve also done all the psychedelics under the sun including RC ones. Oh and alcohol too-big time. And every prescription pill I could get my hands on-adderall, ambien, muscle relaxants, etc etc. Even cough syrup. And I used many together at the same time. I am lucky to be alive. I’ve NEVER groped anyone. There is NO excuse for sexual misconduct, PERIOD. I’ve also know MANY addicts who despite their addiction, were decent people, and even more who weren’t the greatest people but still didn’t sexually abuse anyone. Also, after over a decade of addiction I did in fact decide to change my life and get clean. No one needed to force me, it was my own choice, I had simply grown exhausted of it. We’re not just some brainless animals just because we have substance abuse issues. Most of us use to cope with trauma. Many, probably MOST of us, do actually change after enough time. There is no excuse for people like Andy. He gives the rest of us addicts and former addicts a bad name.

      It's irritating because people call it like it is when it's a woman being harrassed this way and she defends herself, but when a man is being sexually assaulted suddenly they're the aggressor if they stand up for themselves. It's especially true when the person assualting the man is some kind of public figure.
      Sexual assault is sexual assault, no matter the gender of the victim or the person assaulting them.

    I was Andy Dick's assistant from 2008-2009, your portrayal of him is pretty spot on. I haven't spoken to the guy in over 10 years and where he is at now, was the inevitable end... So many great/talented people over the years tried to help him, but ultimately (as sad as this sounds), he is EXACTLY where he wants to be.
    The Predatorial Behavior is a combination of addiction and lack of actual consequences/accountability. Villain stories come in 3 pairs... Villains who know they are Villains... Villains who think they are the Hero... and in Andy's case, he is the worst type of villain... The Villain who thinks that he himself is the Victim, despite the endless amount of destruction that he left behind him (that you documented very well in your video).

    • @jackslammer
      @jackslammer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +205

      @@kubolor1234 When I had worked for him, it was at a time when he was required to wear an alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet, so he was sober, and while he wasn't at his sitcom status anymore, opportunities were still trickling in for him... He was still able to tour comedy clubs around the country (and earn really good money), get on the Late Night Shows, and also book some cameo and supporting roles in TV Shows and Film.
      Even though, I worked with him while he was sober, he seemed like a tormented human-being... who could go from being a somewhat decent person, to being an absolute monster. His weapon of choice would be to get deep/personal information about you via a wonderful conversation... and then use that information to try to destroy you when he was having a bad day.
      Growing up in an abusive home, with a father who had a similar personality (with similar mental health problems), I knew how to navigate the situation... and establish boundaries with Andy. I actually quit working as his assistant 2 weeks before the alcohol monitoring bracelet was set to legally come off... because his downward spiral was premeditated and he was saying things like, "I'm not that bad when I'm drunk" and "It's going to be fun". I made it a point to get the hell up out of there... After witnessing him in person (drunk/high) only a few times, I think I made the right choice.
      I hope that answered your question (sorry for the long comment... haven't talked about or thought about this in a few years... this is therapeutic)

    I had a very strange encounter with Andy, back in 2012. I was working on a very small indie film when they asked me if I would pick him up and take him to set. I said that I would, and I did. We chatted a bit on the drive in. I had an actor friend who'd worked on a film that Andy directed, called "Division III" and Andy remembered him fondly. When he got to set, because he was early, he asked if he could take a nap. We found a place for him to crash. Later, he did his scenes, was very professional, and a friend of his picked him up after we wrapped. Zero drama. I couldn't believe it!

      @@FlowerBootsAndy Dick still has a big portion of blame for Andy Dick. Implying otherwise is a MASSIVE insult to us survivors of horrible things that are cycle breakers.
      It’s fucking awful, but he made and makes so many bad choices and like the video said, chooses the vodka or the cocaine or whatever every time.
      I have so much sympathy for the disease of addiction but someone who turns being abused into serial grope and assault and uses an illness as an excuse? And doesn’t take a single leg up offered to him but keeps jumping to open arms below? Naaaah.
      I’m a very generous and empathic person and I do feel some sadness and pity for him, but I mostly feel disgust that he makes everyone around him an object and seeks people who do that to him and refuses the people like Lovitz who say that shit because they care as much as because they’re mad. It takes real integrity to deliver a truth like that, even if it also comes from anger.
      Trauma is trauma, and people will handle it lots of different ways, but someone who doesn’t make progress at any point in a process but keeps backsliding is someone who’s surrendering their options to heal and giving up on themselves and others. That’s fucking sad, yeah, and it would be different if he didn’t victimize people but there’s a line you cross when you go from victim to perpetuating that victim hold where your status as a victim is secondary to that choice.
