As a fellow horror fan, I'd definitely recommend starting with Paul Tremblay's 'Cabin at the End of the World' - it's been on my TBR too. And thanks for mentioning 'Paperbacks from Hell' - I hadn't heard of that one before, but as someone who loves diving into horror history, that sounds fascinating. Hope you're feeling better soon!
Thank you so much Razu. I think I will try and get to Cabin at The End of The World soon. I hear that Paperbacks From Hell is essential reading for horror fans.
So glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. I've read or plan to read many authors on your list and look forward to hearing what you think about them. I had read two books previously by Rachel Harrison and both had been solid 4 stars for me so when I read Black Sheep a couple of weeks ago I expected the same fun light horror from her. Oh my goodness, it was a wild and intense ride! I think anyone who has a dysfunctional family and/or a background of religious trauma and is looking for catharsis would love it. I had no idea she would take it so far and I was with her every step of the way.
Thank you so much. Great to hear your thoughts on Rachel Harrison, Black Sheep sounds awesome. I will most definitely place it higher on my tbr, thanks to your recommendation.
Heck yes! Both Tananarive Due and Nat Cassidy are on my list too. I really like Paul Tremblay so hopefully you can find some of his stuff out and about! Great video, Cliff!
I'm glad you're on the mend. I read Bird Box a few years ago. I liked it a lot. I have one Grady Hendrix book I haven't read, and I ordered another one. I will read him soon. I read a little of the Mira Grant book. I need to get back to it. I liked what I read. Like you, I've heard a lot of good things about Reformatory. I fear I might struggle with the racism
That’s a great list Cliff! I picked up slewfoot by broom last year and would like to pick up Krampus too. Haven’t read slewfoot yet but have heard good things. I’m also have some Mira Grant and Grady Hendrix books and I’d like to try those authors too. The other books you mentioned sounded great so I’m going to keep an eye out for them.
I loved The Cabin at the End of the World and The Southern Bookclub's Guide to Slaying Vampires. I hope you enjoy them too! Oh and Paperbacks from Hell is great! Enjoy 🤗
Thank you so much Leslie! The premise of The Cabin at The End of The World sounds so awesome and judging by the comments, I need to pick up some Grady Hendrix this year.
Great list. None I’ve read, but I’m really interested in Grady Hendrix and I’ve also picked up a copy of The Cabin At The End Of The World. Get well soon my friend.
Hi Cliff. Another great video. Nat Cassidy is also on my list of authors to read this year for the first time. I've just received his latest, When the Wolf Comes Home. Will be getting to it soon!
Glad you are feeling better. If you haven't read any Nick Roberts or Max Booth, I think that you would like them. Great list. I think you will like all of them.
Super great video. I don't know that I would say that Grady Hendrix is horror comedy so much as he is horror with some elements of comedy in it. He's less Christopher Moore and more Clive Barker when Clive is feeling wry. He has funny elements, but I have been legit moved and/or horrified by him. I only read one Malerman book called Daphne and I was really underwhelmed by it. Tananarive Due I actually heard of when the algorithm put a panel discussion with her and Grady Hendrix in my view lol. I've read some short stories and enjoyed them a lot. If you get to the Reformatory and want to do a buddy read at some point, I just picked it up on Kindle this week so it is very much on my TBR.
Thank you so much Coreena. OK, you have sold me on Grady Hendrix by comparing him to Clive Barker. 😀A buddy read of The Reformatory sounds great. I definitely want to read the book sooner rather than later. Perhaps I will open a slot in my discord and we can chat or do you have any other suggestions?
I loved Krampus! It’s so much fun! Brom was born in my hometown. Mira Grants mermaid books are so good. They are hideous and vicious. I read this years ago but think about the book often
Brom looks promising. Maybe a Christmas read? And I requested Guide to Vampires this month for my birthday. "I am stealing from you…I’m not sorry" + vampires? I am sold on The Lesser Dead. I’m not a fan of the Bird Box movie. But I’m sure the book is better of course.

Excellent list! Some of these are on mine as well. Can't wait to see what you think of Grady Hendrix and Mira Grant.
Thank you so much Tiff! Many comments have pointed me towards Grady Hendrix and Mira Grant, so am excited to discover the authors.
I love Rolling in the Deep and Into the Drowning Deep, Mira Grant has up til now written my favourite mermaids
Thank you for watching Jenni! I am looking forward to reading some mermaid horror this year.

Hi Romy, I would love to find a physical copy of Krampus. I definitely want to read some vicious mermaid horror this year.
@@CliffsDarkGems Won't Amazon order to your country?
I read Krampus. Gave it five stars!
I loved Lost Gods & The Lesser Dead. I hope you like them!
Thank you Alicia! I am desperate to get my hands on a Brom book. The Lesser Dead sounds like my kind of vampire book.
Brother is fantastic! And I’ll be reading Headful of Ghosts in February. Maybe even that werewolf romance you mentioned. Love is in the fur.
Hey Matt, would love to read Brom next Christmas. The Lesser Dead does sound fantastic, love my vampires filthy an nasty.
I want to read Brother in February, just in time for valentines. 🤣
Things Have Gotten Worse. - Dude writing about women. Not fun. Miss that one.
Thanks for the warning! Yes, I will skip that one.
