I hate to be picky but the Gleason albums were not jazz music. My dad had all his albums . Even though Gleason was a huge fan of Dixieland and traditional jazz music, his orchestral albums were mood music of beautiful ballads and old love standards.
An entertainer who can really make you laugh is a therapist. Jackie Gleason was one of the greatest therapists and you don't need health insurance or Medicare.
Are you sure this isn't Saturday, January 2nd, 1965, his first show back AFTER New Year's 64-65? He is talking about New Year's having just happened, and wasn't he being broadcast in color at the end of '65?
PS: Yeah, he says that Sam and the band "were booked" for New Years Eve the same place they always have played, etc etc....... I think this is Jan 2, 1965.
What are you babbling about, this show didn't even break the top ten. His timing is off and the material completely stock New Year's jokes. Love Jackie, but this is not his peak, not by a long shot. And in this 60s period television was unbelievably inane (F Troop, Gilligan's Island, Mr. Ed, etc etc......sorry, Stevie, that ain't the golden age of television) but hey, congratulations Stevie Weevie: you've turned into the old fart you never wanted to be.
This is what we need to see, the COMPLETE Miami shows OTHER than the Honeymooners. Do you have the salute to the big bands? I had a kinnie of it and foolishly sold the film.
Jackie was indeed the great one, but that monologue was awful, this is nowhere near Gleason at his best. His timing was completely off and every line was a stock joke from the Catskills, that's the LAZINESS of this kind of comedy, which was totally on the way out in '65. (not that you'd know) As far as "praying for America" (as opposed to praying for the whole world? Man, you must really live in a hotbed of mediocrity, right Ryan? Life among the lumpen worthless slugs of Moronville? ) Yeah, pray the brainless right wing take their thumbs out of their mouths and their heads out of their rectums, for once in their one-dimensional little lives in the shallow end of the pool. He can start with this doofus, Ryan Ellis who is a little too invested in his television set.
What showmanship Jackie Gleason had ! Everything in this was part of the show . The models bringing out the table and chairs and the coffee cup with gin .Tthe business with the cigarette . Having Sammy Spear who looked like he belonged behind a Bronx butcher counter , dressed in a wild lookng jacket . Actually one of the things that Johnny Carson copied that worked better because Doc Seversen was more urbane looking .
What a great audience! It's no wonder he loved the people of Miami Beach. It seemed odd at the time his show originated from that locale. As far as I know, this is the only weekly TV variety series that ever did.
🥃 Fantastic: A time traveling moment to the last connections of American Vaudeville, Cocktail culture 🍸and Drop Dead Sexy Female Hostesses. "HOW SWEET IT IS ".
His old house where he died at is by my house..drove by the area couple days ago..so cool but definetly run down alittle bit. And sketchy in some areas.
This guy was and still is a LEGEND.
This guy was the ultimate entertainer.
Thats why they called him the great one.
I remember watching the Jackie Gleason show on our family’s b/w Philco…he was something else…”The Great One”, indeed.
For the viewers, I highly recommend listening to the jazz albums Gleason put out back in the day. They were instrumental and absolutely amazing.

Used to watch some of his shows , funny stuff, from Miami Beach Fla. As a kid📺, ,......... How Sweet It Is!!
All around Entertainer who could do it all, still sadly missed after all these years!!!!!

IN B&W THIS IS THE LAST JACKIE GLEASON & HIS AMERICAN SCENE MAGAZINE SHOW ON CBS-TV ON CHRISTMAS SATURDAY NIGHT 1965 & NEW YEAR'S NIGHT 1966.

It could be January 2nd, 1965, or January 1st, 1966. It's hard to say, but the Jackie Gleason Show didn't air in color until fall 1966.
Back when television was GREAT!!!
His weekly variety show was THE standard for TV back in the day.

Youve ZERO taste.....I feel sorry for you@@TTM9691
The Miami Beach audience is the greatest audience in the world! :)
That is great deadpan. Now that is storytelling at it's finest.
Thanks, I don't think I've ever seen one of his monologues before. Happy New Year!
How sweet it was...
One time Jackie showed up at the Dumont studio really hungover. Way more than usual. He called it feeling like "four colors in key."
More like Four Roses a whiskey 🥃
Great stuff from the Great One! Much appreciated, keep 'em comin'!
Great video especially before new years
This is what we need to see, the COMPLETE Miami shows OTHER than the Honeymooners. Do you have the salute to the big bands? I had a kinnie of it and foolishly sold the film.
The Great One!
Who is as good today‽
I will pray for America. Please pray for me. God Bless you.
As Jackie might say "You got it pal!" God Bless you too

Brilliant comedy with The Great One, zero blue material!
The master of life itself and I mean it!!!!!!!!!
And awaaayyy we go!
Great show loved watching it
Actually funny jokes. One of a kind, with unapologetic style. My kind of American.
Great video. He is best without the moustache.
What a great audience!

The most lethal Bloody Mary!
Jackie Gleason was the greatest male comedian ever!!!!!
He also was a brilliant actor as well !!!!!
The master. Don't let anyone tell you different.
The greatest!
Love Jackson Gleason.
Jackie Gleason HOW SWEET YOU WERE!!!
Can you imagine how long Jackie Gleason would have lived if he didn't drink or smoke? He would have made it to 200.
Love the How Sweet it Is
He must have added orange juice to his television set because that’s why he saw it color!!!!!!!!
His old house where he died at is by my house..drove by the area couple days ago..so cool but definetly run down alittle bit. And sketchy in some areas.
Cool!
He wasn't called "The Great One" for no reason.
Having a drinking problem is funny
All we need is Ed Norton Alice and Trixie . The show would be complete.
Alcohol and tobacco always wins.
The way comedy should be!! I just can't sit through today's vulgar routines.
30 aspirins? OH HELL NO
0:39.
Mmmmmmm thats good coffee.
Lake Wales pool hall...WGNJMNFAS 🎉🎉🎉😂
The good old days of chain smoking and sexual harassment.
New Years Eve is amateur night.
