Fr tho. She was just beating around the bush the entire video, talking about her life for some reason and summing up the game. The game we already freaking have. Seriously. Ugh.
Also, this gives more reason for agent 3 to save agent 8. Many people were questioning why it was agent 3 who saved agent 8. People said it was slightly out of place. But it makes everything more clear. It has been 2 years between splatoon and splatoon 2’s timeline, so why was agent 3 down there? I think it was because agent 3 heard that the octarians were back in the events of splatoon 2, so he went back to octo valley with cap’n cuttlefish. At the beginning of octo expansion, agent 8 was evil, because of the hypnotic glasses. But they heard calamari inkantation and that broke the spell of the glasses. Agent 3 knocked agent 8 out, and then they realise agent 8 isnt really evil, so takes them and cap’n back to inkopolis, but everyone except agent 3 was taken underground by a sanitised octoling. Agent 3 then goes underground trying to find them both. Eventually, agent 3, whilst they are underground, hears a distress signal. They also hear cap’n cuttlefish shouting at the telephone. The rest is fairly straight forward. agent 3 managed to make their way to the deepsea metro, since the distress signal was so loud, it was easy to decipher where it was.
The fact that the noises go from ear-to-ear (while wearing headphones/earbuds) is actually really creepy. It feels like it’s coming from right behind/next to you!
Alexandra Stubbs Thank you but I am already aware and have indeed already watched that video. The reason I posted was I wanted someone else’s input and theories.
I don't think theory 2 is true When agent 8 escaped the deep sea metro you saw that it was located somewhere in the ocean a long way from inkopolis. And it's not like agent 8 traveled far either he pretty much climbed straight up. Octo valley is further inland so that kind of eliminates the theory that these locations are close together.
Yes, yes you are, because Octolings can't even speak english Don't use this against me, it's SUBTITLES! Not an actual language that humans can understand and speak
I think it's because the train and vocals are 'blending' into some messages like "help me" (sorry for the pun intended butbi couldn't resist). Then again bulan is right about the octarian language not being english.
Here’s my theory, The screams are coming from below near the metro(we know this). So think about it like this, we see the sanitized Octolings in the DLC, and the sounds are coming from deeper underground, meaning the octolings are trying to go through the challenges while some are dying or being blended alive becoming “sanitized” octolings. So let me explain agent 3 now. When he/she saves you, she clearly heard the noises themselves before going on the trip with cuttlefish, and when they get separated from cuttlefish and heard the noises, that’s when you are rescued. But what I didn’t explain was the agent 3 boss fight. So in that fight, they are covered in the sanitized goo the octolings had, so that meant that the phone took a sample of DNA from the octolings and got it on agent 3. My theory basically to sum it up is just the octarians being killed and blended alive underground in the second game, for the first game, it’s just other subjects being killed/blended. Thank you for reading and hope you have a good day!
The moment you mentioned a train I immediately connected it to the train of the octo expansion and said out loud “oh you smarty smart are you not? Those sounds are the train from the octo expansion aren’t they!”

I'm not sure but this was my interpretation of the noises. They personally didn't unerve me because I always thought of them as octarians cheering for any of the bosses to win. Our character was going aginst them after all so it seemed to be a pretty good conclusion to me.

The bell sounds really sound like the great zapfish flying or trying to fly away. The screams however are the octarians screaming because you beat their past levels and their city is falling apart. @UCNhptR94yL3NvTEYnGNl0SA Allow me to explain: In the Octo Expansion, the main goal is to escape a facility where you have to perform menial tests and survive a rouge AI who likes torturing it's subjects. This also happens to be the plot of the Series Portal, which takes place within Aperture Science, the inventors of the Borealis and the competition for Black Mesa, aka the guys who cause the Resonance Cascade that brings the Combine to enslave Earth. In Team Fortress Two, the Spy has a Sapper known as the ApSap, which is described in the description to have been sold to Spy from a woman in a shady laboratory. The ApSp resembles Wheatley, the main antagonist of Portal 2. Dark Souls and Bloodborne both have story and lore placed within the desriptions, as well as huge, transforming and sometimes boneless creatures armed with tentacles. Do you know what monster is boneless and possesses tentacles? The Bread Monster from Tf2. And do you know what else is boneless and tentacled? Inkings. They shoot ink, which is a liquid, and as is the alcohol that the Demoman drinks. It's plain to see a shared universe, really.
Something of note: The train "dinging" sounds are not exclusive to octo expansion, or even exclusive to real trains in the Splatoon universe. When playing through some of Splatoon 1 for the first time the other day, I noticed that the dinging part of these sounds (or something similar at least, I can't tell if it's the exact same or not) actually appears in the "Inkrail Skyscape" level of the hero mode campaign! It can briefly be heard in this video at about 42:50. th-cam.com/video/92XEV_aT1pQ/w-d-xo.html Also, I haven't played Octo Expansion in a while, but I don't remember the Deepsea Metro train making these dinging sounds, so that part could very well just be coming from the little train things all around the 2 octo societies.
1:49 there’s a squid screaming help me I don’t know why but I hear that. This is awesome I can’t believe Nintendo I remember when they said they didn’t know what they were and people started saying it was a glitch.
When I finally got Splatoon 2 myself and I remembered about this,I went to the second boss fight arena and listened. The second I heard it,I was shocked even though I knew it existed,it just... I was waiting for quite a while for it to pop up,so to suddenly hear what sounded like screams freaked me out. In all honesty, this makes the noises even more haunting. That innocent lives *are* being lost because of Tartar the touch tone telephone, whether indirectly through the challenges or directly since he is a part of the blender that "helps you to the promise land". He is causing a mass genocide way under inkopolis's feet and no one knew it until the sounds were first made public. It makes it haunting and even...sad.
I have an expansion (pun intended) to that theory. When you battle inner agent 3, there is a case of wasabi on the arena, and they carry an octarian symbol. So, here is an idea. DJ Octavio cooperated with the Deepsea Metro. Why? Well, as we know, many octolings' minds were freed after hearing the calamari inkantation, and among those octolings was agent 8. So, what if DJ Octavio sends all of those "freed" octarians to the Metro to get turned into a bioweapon, to avoid a revolution? It could make sense. At the end of the expansion, it showed that Commander Tartar wanted to destroy the inklings, perhaps even more than Octavio. What if Tartar deemed the octarians a more progressive and organized race than inklings, and in exchange for the, ahem, supplies for his weapon, he would give the now inkling-free land to the octarians?
Or Octolings were simply easier targets because they live in misery and oppression and never saw the light of the day, while Inklings are already happy with their turf wars and fashion. Tartar could take advantage of the Octolings who wanted to flee to the outside world.
Kid playing splatoon: What is that noise Me: Screams Kid: Who’s screaming? Me: Y’know kids just being put into a blender and then cut up into pieces Kid: 😳
There's was another one that was scary and a bit sad the inklings and octoreins (sorry if I typed that worng) are at war with each other for I forgot what the name was but its was beyond rare and the noises we hear is the screams of the octoreins and the metal falling down was their base collapsing
My theory is that the screams were from the Great ZapFish being harmed by the Octolings, since the Octarians snatched it. Maybe it was trying to wriggle it’s way from the Octolings who were taking it to DJ Octavio
So now we know what the screams actually are, it was Octolings, and probably other creatures that aren't Octarian being blended into Sanitized. This debunks the theory that the Inklings are willing to wipe out the entire Octarian race, but we still don't know if some Inkling wants that to happen no matter what the others think. And it's possible that Commander Tartar started blending Octolings because they were loosing to the Inklings. There's still many answers that we're looking for. Edit: What am I saying? Commander Tartar hated the Inklings way of life, so he did this to get revenge on them.
Well if you look a little closer on tartar (with the ink on head) you'll see that there's some octopus tentacles on his head. So he might have been good until he randomly turned evil.
Tessa Woodyard... That's exactly what happened, he was made back when humans were still standing on the world of Splatoon, remember this is before the Octarians and Inklings even existed. He was misprogramed to guide them to a more civilized life, and when he saw that they were battling over pointless fashion senses, and without reason, that's when he turned bad. That tentacle on his head does not come from back when he was good, that's an effect of absorbing the DNA sludge he made.
or its just the floating platforms falling with the octarians on them, (there falling because the powers draining from agent 3 collecting the zapfish so they cant hold)
As a rail fan. I fully approve this theory and has been in my head when i first heard those sounds before watching this vid. The bells sound like those of a crossing guard lowering at a level crossing. Thats what gave me train feels back before Splatoon 2 Octo expansion was announced.
What I think happened: Octolings from octo expansion were on their way to promise land, but the train went without them, there was a huge blender, so the octolings went inside the blender, they knew they were going to get killed after the blender started, they begged for help, they ended up getting killed by the blender.
now that splat 3 is out, one of the screams sounds like a bear, so if I'm being honest i think it's a detail the developers left there to let us ponder it, to digital dream, it sounds like people in deep sea metro, to others maybe the bosses after the fight, or even the octoling society crumbling. I honestly think its there for us to decipher.
It was a joke from one of the devs, it was never intended to be there and people on the team had NO idea it was there before. However it could've been to make us not believe it was anything related to lore, but I'm still gonna make theories on it.
Wait. . . So please say if I'm correct you can correct me if you want when you read this, Since in the Octo expansion came out, (despite from the fact that I've never played it :/ ) but I've seen TH-cam videos that in the beginning of Octo expansion there is agent 8 and then she meets Captain Cuttlefish and the telephone and he said something like "here is your card 10,008. . .?" Or something like that After reading the comments about the octolings getting blended that's when I realized that what if Agent 8 was the next octoling to be blended. Out of the other 10,007 that have died. Since the screams from splatoon 1 may have been at least those octolings that might have tried to escape deep sea metro except to actually be killed by getting blended or getting run over by the train(since there is a train down there). Since the release of splatoon 1 and 2 it's actually a good amount of time for the telephone to kill all of the octolings but agent 8 because she defeated him. But something tells me. . . What if those aren't all the octolings that died? I feel like the telephone killed more than he actually did My theory though so I hope ya actually appreciate my theory and I hope ya like it as well
I think those screams are the octolings and Inklings battling for the great zap fish. For the train sounds I feel like each octo/inkling every time they get get hurt they are sent back to there base as captain cuddle fish mentions the great turf war I also feel like octo expansion could have taken place in the past before the great turf war as the inklings and octolings are training inklings might have had a easier training which is why we don’t really hear light blood curling screams octolings could had have harsh training. With the bomb on their backs every C.Q cumber presses the button for the bomb to explode it causes a lot of pain which might be the screams. This was just a random thought but i hope I could be right ( I don’t think I am though.)
Ok, here is what I thought. The bosses that you beat contained a zap fish which in theory, could also be used to run a city below. Therefore, the noise could be people evacuating either because of the power outage, or they just realized that their guardian has fallen, and they could be next. This would show the screams are screams of panic, and they are using the train to get out.
So in some of the boss fights in the Octo Expansion includes sanitized versions of the bosses in the Octo Canyon. You said that the Octo Canyon and the Depsa Metro could be close in contact. Maybe these sanitized versions of the bosses could be the ones that Agent 4 defeated. These cloud have been taken back and sanitized into a new version. I don't know, this is just a guess.
this was a very enjoyable and well put together video. i completely agree with it being the octolings in the metro, you made some really good points to back that up. you deserve more views, dude.
I think it's pretty clear the deepsea metro's been operating for quite a long time... 10,008 test subjects is a lot. I can't imagine they were run through _that_ quickly.
Oorrr its the players of people playing girl power station Man I hated that one ...that ONE level I loved the 8 ball levels and had no problem untill...that girl power station
nice vid !!!! That was a scary theory... it's nive that agent 3 saved us, but the others... well atleast now there won't be no telephone testing or blending us, just sweet style, i hope they'll always be happy in inkopolis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edit: added more ! 😍😍😍😍😉
I thought it was confirmed to be random background noises from some stock sound company. It makes sense that it all sounds metallic given the setting, and the developers didn't put much thought into it.
I've heard 2 other theories over the years, one is that this is a flashback to the first squid and octo war, where inklings ambushed them and they're all panicking, or everything is shutting down because you stole their power source and everyone is panicking.
It was my first time hearing the noise and my brain was like “it’s the octo expansion when that stupid phone makes the blender and blends the octolings” I also wonder if Nintendo had a sneaky worker that already new thAt they should do splatoon 2 and a expansion and they were like let’s do underground trains
Before the blenders lid is about to be put on, you can hear voices yelling at you saying “YOU MUST. NOT. GO IN!” Twice, (The second time harder to hear, but it sounds a little like “DO NOT GO IN!”,) and when the lid gets put on you can hear screaming similar to the ones in Splatoon. If you don’t know, these are the voices of the other 10,007 test subjects before you, trying to warn you about Tar-Tar. Coincidence? Maybe. Probably not though. Maybe in the future we’ll get more information, and maybe Splatoon 2 has more of the secrets in Splatoon, like the laughing statues. Edit: The laughing statues might just be an unnerving Easter egg, but they might also be connected somehow. Plus, there’s a game (forgot what it’s called lol) with a boss, and when it dies you can hear giggling similar to those in Splatoon. Just some more stuff to add to this mystery.
Aside from the majority sounding precisely like commander tartar's blender formation, I noticed that the other additional scream like noise actually sounds VERY similar to the Octostomp's scream. So if thats the case, then the line that we're hearing the screams from has to be line H which would make actually a lot of sense since Line A is closer to H and possibly borders a small bit of the Octarian territory if thought from a overlay perspective.
I can relate to the train noises but I must believe the screaming is the enemy's that you face in co-op mode witch is getting weaker therefore they scream because of their weakness or just getting hurt severly
I never knew abt the screams, but as soon as I heard the sound it was pretty easy to piece it together instantly. I hope the devs had this expansion planned from the beginning. That would be cool.
I always thought that the screams and other noises were the octolings evacuating the area because the place lost power, cuz it sounds like alarms and doors opening
I like this theory but I have a different one. The “screams” we hear to me doesn’t sound exactly like an octoling or inkling, to me the screams don’t sound like screams at all. It might be possible that the area that the octos make those bosses is even more underground than the battle arena. What if those sounds where the sound of the bosses being made (except that some bosses are not mechanical like the octo Samurai) and the “screams where just more mechanical noises.
I just assumed it was their infrastructure falling apart since you're taking their main power source. the screams sound more like the place falling apart. Plus the train bells could be the train signals strewn around every map
This whole video can be summed up with “they’re the screams of the people being blended in the octo expansion”

I heard it to... Creepy
Nah tartar hates octolings. He blended them up
I dont think so since everyone wouldve died
Or Octolings were simply easier targets because they live in misery and oppression and never saw the light of the day, while Inklings are already happy with their turf wars and fashion.
Tartar could take advantage of the Octolings who wanted to flee to the outside world.
Kid playing splatoon: What is that noise
Me: Screams
Kid: Who’s screaming?
Me: Y’know kids just being put into a blender and then cut up into pieces
Kid: 😳
That seems odd.
Tartar is the most terrifying villain in the ENTIRE SPLATOON SERIES!
Don’t forget spongebob
what about Mr. Grizz?
There's was another one that was scary and a bit sad the inklings and octoreins (sorry if I typed that worng) are at war with each other for I forgot what the name was but its was beyond rare and the noises we hear is the screams of the octoreins and the metal falling down was their base collapsing
My theory is that the screams were from the Great ZapFish being harmed by the Octolings, since the Octarians snatched it. Maybe it was trying to wriggle it’s way from the Octolings who were taking it to DJ Octavio
Even though my theory doesn’t make sense in Splatoon 2, I’m making my theory on the first game. Oh, and also WOOMY!
You should hear it on the final bossfight while the song plays
Thats sounds funny xd
Yeah
the end scared the poop out of me lol
?
Wait wut
It almost sounds like cows mooing and their cow bells jingling. I can't explain the rest though, I like your theory more!
or its just the floating platforms falling with the octarians on them, (there falling because the powers draining from agent 3 collecting the zapfish so they cant hold)
As a rail fan. I fully approve this theory and has been in my head when i first heard those sounds before watching this vid. The bells sound like those of a crossing guard lowering at a level crossing. Thats what gave me train feels back before Splatoon 2 Octo expansion was announced.
"It's a well known secret by now" But if it's well known, how can it be a secret?
Sorry, I couldn't help it XD Awesome video ^^
Gengar for life.

Rare sound of developers in middle of deadline
hey guys! apparently they used the octoling-screaming sounds in their anti piracy screen, it's really fucking creepy-
IVE SEEN IT AAAAAAA
Imagine getting thrown into a blender by a phone box then having the phone box shoot your blood at others through a statue.
When you played the screams the second time I instantly heard the “DING DING DING DING” of a train crossing
What I think happened:
Octolings from octo expansion were on their way to promise land, but the train went without them, there was a huge blender, so the octolings went inside the blender, they knew they were going to get killed after the blender started, they begged for help, they ended up getting killed by the blender.
5:07 Enjoy the game to the fullest because well indeed
Splat-o-pocalypse is coming, and surely is coming fast
now that splat 3 is out, one of the screams sounds like a bear, so if I'm being honest i think it's a detail the developers left there to let us ponder it, to digital dream, it sounds like people in deep sea metro, to others maybe the bosses after the fight, or even the octoling society crumbling. I honestly think its there for us to decipher.
True
It was a joke from one of the devs, it was never intended to be there and people on the team had NO idea it was there before. However it could've been to make us not believe it was anything related to lore, but I'm still gonna make theories on it.
Wait. . . So please say if I'm correct you can correct me if you want when you read this,
Since in the Octo expansion came out, (despite from the fact that I've never played it :/ ) but I've seen TH-cam videos that in the beginning of Octo expansion there is agent 8 and then she meets Captain Cuttlefish and the telephone and he said something like "here is your card 10,008. . .?" Or something like that
After reading the comments about the octolings getting blended that's when I realized that what if Agent 8 was the next octoling to be blended.
I feel like the telephone killed more than he actually did
My theory though so I hope ya actually appreciate my theory and I hope ya like it as well
Yuki Ika-Chan when the telephone says “10,008” it’s a like a long way of saying agent 8, but then again, u could be right
There could be inklings that tried to rescue them but failed too
@YourWaifu UwU Agent 8 is the short way to say 10.008, not the other way around
Inklings tying octolings to train tracks and waiting for the trains to come.
Final theory
That was just me screaming when I stubbed my toe
The screams are just me when my teammates keep falling into water and getting vored in salmon run instead of actually trying
It also sounds like they are building new bosses
So in some of the boss fights in the Octo Expansion includes sanitized versions of the bosses in the Octo Canyon. You said that the Octo Canyon and the Depsa Metro could be close in contact. Maybe these sanitized versions of the bosses could be the ones that Agent 4 defeated. These cloud have been taken back and sanitized into a new version. I don't know, this is just a guess.
It's so weird hearing Splatoon 2 music over Splatoon 1 gameplay xD
That moment when you pause it and the screams continue
this was a very enjoyable and well put together video. i completely agree with it being the octolings in the metro, you made some really good points to back that up. you deserve more views, dude.
Dis is not dude
The sounds also reminds me to a bear. Maybe Mr. Grizz was already planed since the begining.
“bells”
Tom Nook: *intresting*
im literally playing animal crossing while watching this lmaoo
I think it's pretty clear the deepsea metro's been operating for quite a long time... 10,008 test subjects is a lot. I can't imagine they were run through _that_ quickly.
Oorrr its the players of people playing girl power station
Man I hated that one ...that ONE level I loved the 8 ball levels and had no problem untill...that girl power station
Me too I am so close on getting the golden tooth pick -^-
The screams I think is the blender blending the telephones tests from expansion
nice vid !!!!
Hum, i never played splatoon but this IS really interesting
“Trains confirmed babes!”
Sounds weird...
TRAINS. ARE. THE. BEST!!!!!!!!
@@lukaschkroblox9044 nah... Boats are the best
2:46 bnsf c44-9w leading an intermodal
Maybe they’re humans, deep, deep, down, screaming for help, but no one comes.
How do u know it is wait it’s not sounds like dj octavio is creating something to destroy inkoplis
It could have also been the screams from the sanitized octolings, possible getting sanitised or are in pain from the sanitisation
persona 5 background music 😩😩
Alhbraed that makes you happy doesn’t it
Was waiting for someone to say it
I can relate to the train noises but I must believe the screaming is the enemy's that you face in co-op mode witch is getting weaker therefore they scream because of their weakness or just getting hurt severly
You forgot the 3AM screams, They are scarier than the Originals!
I never knew abt the screams, but as soon as I heard the sound it was pretty easy to piece it together instantly. I hope the devs had this expansion planned from the beginning. That would be cool.
But you forgot 1 thing the final boss from splatoon was only reachbal by the UFO that was launched into space and not into deeo sea
Boom
They were teasing the new splatoon auto expansion for a long time and we didn’t even realize now side Oder is out
Interesting theory! Hope we get a true answer in Splatoon 3! And this should be called
Squidier Things (Stranger Things parody)
The screams are Octolings being blended by a blender
Nice theory. Makes so much sense. No one could disagree with you. I never would've thought of this.
The Digital Dream Club: *Plays horrific screams and sounds*
Subtitles: *Applause Laughter*
I always thought that the screams and other noises were the octolings evacuating the area because the place lost power, cuz it sounds like alarms and doors opening
I like this theory but I have a different one.
The “screams” we hear to me doesn’t sound exactly like an octoling or inkling, to me the screams don’t sound like screams at all. It might be possible that the area that the octos make those bosses is even more underground than the battle arena. What if those sounds where the sound of the bosses being made (except that some bosses are not mechanical like the octo Samurai) and the “screams where just more mechanical noises.
It’s alterna’s downfall. They shouldn’t have made that rocket, when that wall fell, that is what was heard
“Let’s have another listen to these screams”
Me at midnight: I don’t want to...
I just assumed it was their infrastructure falling apart since you're taking their main power source. the screams sound more like the place falling apart. Plus the train bells could be the train signals strewn around every map
Imagine hearing those screams at night alone at a train station though
