    Well done to the owner of the kitten..rather than listening to other vets to put her to sleep she took her to Chris..and look at the result..yes it took work by the owner but the fact Chris couldn't pick lil Amari out of the 3 kits said it all..if it was me even if it couldn't be repaired she could have had a full life with 3 legs..there was absolutely no reason to out that kitty down..I wish more owners were like this lady🇬🇧💞🙏✝️🐾🐾🐈

      I had a cat who was born perfectly healthy. He was shot and hit by a car at around a year old. I had to have one of his legs amputated to save his life. He lived for 14 years with 3 legs. He still chased mice, he still climbed trees... He didn't slow down at all. I'm stunned that the vets told her to put the kitten down. At the worst, she would have lived a normal life with 3 legs. That angers me.

      @@alidapurdy I was thinking the same thing that at least the kitten could have a good life on three legs, but when Chris made the comment about if it was a deformity there was most likely more issues going on, it made me wonder if that’s what the other vets thought as well. They clearly didn’t do a thorough check up like he did to rule it out but I wonder if that was the immediate thought of them that this kitten had big time issues.

      I know, I hope they took her back to the original vet who recommended her execution, to show them what they would have killed unnecessarily. Even if the leg was never fixed, it could have been amputated. Some vets just don't care, no empathy, no respect for life, just doing their job in the easiest way possible.

    • @karmica7591
      @karmica7591 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me too. I'm glad she decided to hear other opinions, it can be the best option in difficult and scary situations like that. They can just give you the "reassurance" that you tried everything possible while keeping their health and possible pain as THE priority (we may need a vet that stops us from being "selfish", they are there also for helping us while taking incredibly difficult and emotionally painful decisions) or, like here, having that one possibility that wasn't thought before that could save their life.

      @@Jen.K I would have done exactly that. Taken the kitty back to the original vet who didn't give her a thorough exam like Chris did, and showed them what a beauty she turned out to be. Vets like the original one make me sick. They don't want to try, and take the easy way out. I bet Amari is a gorgeous adult, and has no memory or sign that there was anything wrong. (Jan Griffiths).

    My four bottom teeth in the front actually had what happened to Jinx happen. Basically, my adult teeth grew in behind my baby teeth rather than pushing them out, and ended up pushing them forward. It exacerbated my overbite and earned me the nickname "Shark tooth" in second grade. I think it was meant to be taken in a mean way but I honestly thought it sounded cool haha. So interesting to see that in a dog! I'm glad he could be sorted out, and have a normal amount of teeth.

    I had a Pomeranian 30 or 40 years ago that had double canine teeth top and bottom. Took her to the vet and he pulled out the extras and she had no problems eating after that. She did have one set of pups that had normal teeth. Got her spayed after that but I don't think that double teeth are a inherited trait.

    When I was a kid in the country, I saw if a animal was born deformed, they'd be put down, or just allowed to live, how ever long they live. Vet care wasn't a major part of life. Injuries, putting down a sick, old dog, rabies vaccines, etc. People rarely went for health/wellness checks, to fix deformities, save at all cost care. That's changing, which is great. Although it's still common in rural places. Btw, I'm in the Midwest of the US.

    Ours in Serbia does not have all these preparations and devices for the examination and prevention of all these diseases and accidents at our veterinarians, plus our veterinarians are all when you come in shape, you just had to come, put it on the table, hmm listen to your heart and look in your eyes he says everything is ok, he is completely healthy, you can go !!! God forbid you say but ... immediately the vet and I and he and what are you going to pick up are shouting and so on with the second, third the same everything, so he has to bleed to be examined or my pocket has to bleed, and now I look at how much you give, caress them as if they were yours, give them sweets, examine and I am sad that I am not somewhere near yours to give my pug everything he needs ... I am very happy and all praise for your work and on the other hand sad because I can't find a good veterinarian, a good veterinarian in Serbia immediately offers euthanasia as the best solution for all current and future diseases, great greetings from Serbia

    A pug and a cavalier is about the cruelest mix you can do. They should have never featured this poor thing, a vet has a responsibility to inform people on the health of animals and they failed on informing the public that this mix, let alone the individual breeds are riddled with health problems and should never be encouraged because they are ‘cute’ or ‘funny’.

    Euthanize for a single deformed limb? *Why?!* Cats can get around on three legs.
    As for why more abnormalities are appearing, I think part of it is that we're taking better care of our pets so more of them are living long enough to show abnormalities or to breed and pass on abnormalities that didn't show in them but will in the next generation. We're also more likely to try to *save* the animals with abnormalities rather than just leave them to die.

    Abnormalities are appearing more often because we tend to save animals that WOULD NOT SURVIVE IN NATURE. This problem is more apparent in people, but we shower our pets with medical attention and our farm animals with drugs; vying with nature's plan that only the strong and self sufficient should survive past infancy. Yet I believe that we are perfectly natural ourselves, contending with a fate no animal has attempted to deal with; and that is the Universe's loose parts and their ability to destroy all life on Earth. So we must take fantastic measures that rely on a continuous supply of geniuses, and it is those people we must seek out and protect, just as bees do with their queens. It is geniuses, not straight limbs, that will STOP THAT ROCK, and more of them to find a new planet and get there,, with all this DNA intact, so we can let it all loose again, with our
    3-D printers. Perfectly Natural. So is God. All part of the Web. Mutations galore, responding to challenges unforeseen, and somehow surviving them. Like a clock in pieces on the table, the parts are all there; and the "how" is clear to see; but WHY?
