I feel the final arc was rushed which sucks since I loved Melon as a character and I would have loved to see more of the Lions interact more with Louis (plus they kind of do Louis dirty in the romance area) It was a lot of things about Melon that wasn't explored or explained. Only the basics. Plus the lions that clearly had a big impact on Louis was also rushed in away.
Well, im kind of late to the game. Honestly, Beastars was my favorite dueing the first arc. I loved the characters and the focus on their personal stories. However, the manga took a wrong "shounen battle" twist by the end of the Meteor festival Arc. That was honestly the moment the manga started going down from me. We went from kids growing into adulthood, try to learn why society works while working their inner conflicts. And we finished with a Psychietrist and a teenager taking down an entire manga to save a helpless girl for a romance with no chemestry. Then we had a murder mystery arc that took a twist on "lets focus on society before characters". And this view went to the extremes in the melon arc. Evrry single event of this arc is only introduce lore. Melon was to introduce hybrid, all of his conversations go on the lines of hybrid place in society, Gosha was to tell about how socity treats venon animals, Legosi's mother was to talk about beaty standars on women, Yafya was there only to show a dark side of policemen, the all the mafies were a variation of "society roles", the entire visit to the cherryton was a lore dump, so far and so on. The characters became an accesory to a comenty on a fictional society. They stopped being characters to be preachers. ----------- I wanna add a something about Legosi's mom, she actually lied to Legosi about his father. In a chapter during the murder myatery arc, Legosi explains to Gouhin that his father abandoned him and his mother when he was a baby. This is obviously a lie, since she never told the guy that she had a baby. So, yeah, she actually not only took away Legosi's chance to have a father, but also stole a kid from the other guy. On top of that, she was telling Legosi from a young age that his father abandoned him, this can cauae some major mental issues. And we all love Gosha, but he is a terrible father. He did allow his daughter to base her entire identity on looks, allowing her to lie about her family. And also taught Legosi to see himself as nothing more than a monster, hate himself for being born like that, and to think that everyone will see him as one. Legosi's entire family tree is quite toxic when it comes to family dynamics. And, lets remember, Haru's mother taught her that everyone will see her as week, that everyone can kills her and should see herself as inferior. With this family backgrounds, I think any child these two decide to have will have terrible outcomes. ------- Another note, did you know that even during this final arc, Legosi still hates being born a carnivore and uses the "protection" as an excuse to justify his own existance? Yeah, the main issue the MC had from chapter 1 was never solved.
I think the main problem with the whole story is that all that Legoshi does proves that stereotypes in that world are true (idk if it was the intention of the mangaka but that is). In short: - Eating meat is bad (But Legoshi not eating it made him weak and slim, instead when he consumed the moth and Louis leg he literaly bulk up and became strong enough to defeat a villain naturally stronger than him) - There may be mixed couples (Yet the mangaka shows that all hybrids are either psycho or suicidal or destined to suffer, also shows that usually mixed couple end with one partner killed directly or undirectly by the other) - You can love who you want (Yet Louis leaves Juno to stay with another deer because their relationship was wrong, Riz was basically in love with Tem and we know how it ended, and Gosha wife died just for a single kiss) - There can be mutual benefit between herbivores and carnivores (Except every time it happens it's shown it leads to the herbivore being killed or harmed) In shorts, Paru created a world where r*cism, toxic relationships, classism and homoph*obia are not only stereotypes but also rules and society and proved through the actions of her characters that those rules exist for a reason. Mission failed successfully, anyone? ^^"
It's more complex then that. The stereotypes are "true", but there's benefit in struggling against them. Legoshi struggles against them constantly and succeeds, gaining a relationship with a girl he loves. And by the way, racism, toxic relationships, classism and homophobia are stereotypes and also rules that real society lives by, as someone who experienced them and observes them through people I know. They are basically god to some people. But is this reason to not struggle against them? No. Will you get a happy ending by struggling against them? Often not. Is it a bad idea to struggle against them? NO! What you see through this manga is the results of struggling against society's screwed up rules. It's fucking messy, almost never works, and comes in centimenters rather then inches if progress happens at all. Society, however, needs to be rebelled against. This is a real manga. Especially in how it portrays living as someone "alternative". You guys just don't see it cause most people are just so damned sheltered.
I come from the future, and uhh... no, no the anime did not make major changes, in fact it cut even more content and ended the final season where Melon dumps Legoshi in the water and we get that scene with Haru at Uni with Melon teaching her class and that was it, that was how BS ends... Now I'm hearing from a random user or two that this is "just part 1 of the final season", yet the show itself has followed a 12 episode seasonal format, so you can't really call the last season "the final season", if there's another 12 more episodes, because that would make that the true last season, and so far I'm not seeing any news from Netflix on there being a "season finale part 2" anywhere... I know how Netflix works, have done for yrs. They tend to drop shows or rush them for a quick finish before either cancelling them or letting them just fizzle out on their own, and I feel like BS got the former (rushed) treatment. The hype for the anime isn't the same as it was back in 2020, when everyone was stuck indoors and binging the first and 2nd seasons, so it tracks with netflix rushing this final season out the door and calling it quits on the anime. Paru is also focusing now on her brand new BSDM Ghost manga, so I doubt she's going to waste time going back to not only resolve her plot holes in her own BS manga, but also knocking on Netflix's door to actually finish her anime.
Man I’ve been searching for a video like this, even if you were forced to read the story I’m glad that someone else agrees that the other half of the story is horrible. Its a shame because it had such a strong start. Anyways nice video, not many people really touch upon the other half’s flaws and plot-holes.
The final season anime fixes a lot of the story's strangeness. Didn't fix Legoshi's mom, though. Was hoping she died due to health complications being a hybrid but no, she still kills herself.
This video is SO GOOD, This video is unironically the best Beastars video out there (That I've seen). I agreed with mostly all of the points in it. Your script is perfect and had me engaged all the way through the video. I can't wait to see more videos on different topics but, I do have 2 big criticisms. One is your line delivery, sometimes you sound really bored. You don't have to be all high octane but a more energized voice can go a long way. The other issue is the editing. I know editing is hard but with enough practice and time your editing skills will grow. The editing in this video didn't subtract from what you were talking about. The images were spot on for what topics you were talking about. You don't have to take this advice, especially from a guy who barely uploads, but I just want to see you grow and get more people watching you. Overall the video was wonderful and I'm going to Subscribe to see what is next.
To be brutally fair, I'd sound bored if I invested 4yrs of my life only for the story/world-building I followed and took interest in, ended up not reaching a satisfying conclusion, as well as being utterly wasted. That's 4 yrs of my life I'm never getting back, and I really loved BeastStars, but my god was it left in a state worse than Full Metal Alchemist 2003 version (at least they got a spinoff film that tried to tie up their loose ends).
...which is why it sucks that design is draped over such a poorly written character. The dichotomy of what Melon represents - the merge of carnivore and herbivore, and what he IS - a villain, fails because he is, even by his own judgment, evil. And the crossbreed shit, that goes fuckall nowhere from what my tiny brain could comprehend. He is just a cool villain who suffers a lot. That doesnt get a 'true' resolution, he's just defeated.
Years later with the final season now out and in far more of an unresolved mess than the manga turned out, I'm starting to think that Paru is either too young to know how to write properly (Her manga has so many plot holes and many unresolved/unexplored parts, despite building such a large world), or she's riddled with ADHD and cannot focus on writing points that reach a satisfying conclusion (and yes you can do this in short or long-form, she doesn't have to write BeastStars like it's One Piece levels of long to cover the world she created). I'm just left disappointed that we get this manga and interesting art style and world-building, then an anime with a unique style of CGI, and all of it just gets rushed and then squandered, and Paru is already working on some random BDSM Ghost manga now... It just feels like she either got bored with her first Manga, or that she just couldn't finish what she started (she could have taken a hiatus and I'm pretty sure most of us would have been fine with a 1-2yr gap for her to get creative again).
Hopefully they change things for the rest of the final sesson or at least remove certain parts but i would like if you made a video on how the story could be potentially saved for the rest of the series
Honestly, I enjoyed it. Granted it pulls the drag shoot and should've stuck to being a crime thriller ending with both Melon and Yahya dying but I had far more fun with beastars once Legosi was kicked out of school.
If the writer stooped caring then she shouldn't do another arc fleshing the ending out as you suggest. Writing is a labour of love and if she's not feeling it then she shouldn't have to. The writer doesn't owe anyone a better ending.
I'm sorry but... no. It's this kind of mentality from media consumers that gets us crap like The Rise of Skywalker and MCU Phase 4. She's not some 13-year old posting stuff on Wattpad who writes mainly as a hobby. She had achieved the dream most mangaka strive their whole lives for and never attain: writing one of the flagship series for a major publication. She doesn't get to say "Oh I'm bored of this story and don't want to write it anymore". She owes it to her employer, she owes it her fans, she owes it to the aspiring writers who hope to make to where she is one day, she owes it to the writers who tried their hardest but still failed to make it to the summit where she stood, and most importantly she owes it to *herself.* To deliver a story that is not only worth reading but worth *telling.*
I find both of you a little disagreeable. The writer is their own person. No one is entitled to another's time (assuming we dont count money into the equation but thats complicates my point). Now, that doesnt mean i think we should just shut up about the quality of the ending - art is a 2 way exchange, if you cant take quality criticism when you are already pro-actively engaged with others as a writer, then dont be a writer. Not by law, but by recommendation. By way of what the medium represents. Also comparing Rise of Skywalker and the MCU to Beastars is a bit much. Corporate greed was a significant factor in the former 2 that cant be ignored.
I miss the Jojo video
I was promised a fucking beast wars episode
I know where you live you will make the beast wars episode
Wheres the beast wars episode, i cant see it anywhere you bastard

That was kinda what I was thinking
Yeah, the 2nd half of Beastars was rushed and overstuffed overall.
If the anime adapts this I hope it makes major changes in the show.
Yeah, I can't help but agree this is one of the few moments where I want the anime or film media to go against the original source material.
I come from the future, and uhh... no, no the anime did not make major changes, in fact it cut even more content and ended the final season where Melon dumps Legoshi in the water and we get that scene with Haru at Uni with Melon teaching her class and that was it, that was how BS ends...

Why is that something that needs to be fixed? Is it bad that some people relate to that part of the social commentary?
Am I the only one that loved the shisigumi in this arc
dw same
Yeahhh, goodie boy Agata.
Didn't Legosi drop out? He still could've gone to school but it would've been much harder for him there
I read it last week. I think the police made him leave but covered it up as him dropping out of school

Gosha was and still is one of my favorite characters of all time.
Like him, or hate him he has one of the coolest characters designs around ……..

Legoshi should have joined a monastery.
The anime does this so much better.
I hope they fix some of these issues I. The anime adaptation
I always believed that it would be better off to never adapt this arc but I doubt that will ever happen.
@@electplayer7576 I Just Hope they take MANY creatove liberties in the Adaption of this arc

Great video but I’m having a hard time hearing you over the persona 5 music
I have mixed feelings about this arc, it certainly has its flaws.
Studio orange should have never delayed part 2 for next year. What should be done part 1 for oct this year and part 2 for December this year.
What's the name of the song?
When are we going to admit Paru is *_NOT_* good at writing actual stories and metaphors, and should stick to making the characters?
Tbh I loved it, I wish they didnt rush the ending. I hope there will also be a season 4 cause there is just too much to say
I was wondering why this just disappeared after the first season. Looks like it just fizzled out.
why is my melon in the trash can
Honestly, I enjoyed it. Granted it pulls the drag shoot and should've stuck to being a crime thriller ending with both Melon and Yahya dying but I had far more fun with beastars once Legosi was kicked out of school.
