I never had that much problem putting the equal length shorty headers on my 89 GT then later I changed to a tubular engine cradle and went to full length that is and coilover set up on the front suspension tubular k member it's definitely the way to go it gives you much more room and takes about 65 lb off the front end
When it comes to attaching headers on a Mustang, it has been a problem due to the shock towers making it very difficult since 1966. Whereas the Camaro and Firebird were very simple in comparison.
And I thought installing headers on a 4th-gen F-body was bad -- this is insane! Please tell me there's a full video for this custom installation Ray and not just a short teaser. 😮
4th Gen F-body headers are easy peasy. I had my Camaro off the ground maybe 3 feet and put a set of long tubes in with that little of clearance. I mean, I know with a lot of cars you can put them in from the top, but as far as having to go through the bottom, it wasn't a big deal at all. 🤷🏼
Send all the 79-04 mustangs my way Ray, lol, it's what I do. But if you think this one's tricky, do long tube install on a 4v cobra engine, gotta pull the motor, trans and k member all together. That's like a 10 hr job for me and that's cooking it lol.
Come on, I did long tubes on a 2003 cobra in my garage with jack stands. I did use that same harbor freight engine bar. Took 6 hours start to finish with breaks. I also used this opportunity to switch to tubular k-member and coil overs. Adding potential additional difficulty. I fortunately didn’t run into any figment issues.
It's nice you get to leave all the steering components together, though you don't need to disconnect any ball joints, and the second time you do it, you'll be flying through it. on the v6s at least resealing the oil pan either you need to drop the K member or lift the motor out of the mounts and mostly unbolt that k member wouldn't be surprised if it's the same for the 4.6
I have an 08 4.6l f150. I only wanted to change my intake. Everything I touched broke from intense corrosion, So now the only old parts left are my exhaust manifolds and the long block.😂
My buddy went through hell to do that I had to help him and the worst part is what you don't realize is a more open exhaust robs HP at the low end for torque on the high end. So he would race my Mustang and lost after he added headers as he was now slow out of the hole but if we kept racing past the quarter mile and past 120mph he would come flying by me. The problem is that it never happens in real life it's always light to light so unless you're doing 1/2 mile competitions it's not going to make a 4.6 faster on the streets
