    Advanced Care Paramedic and police tactical medic here... Glad you included a tourniquet (TQ), Ryan. Combat experience has shown that it's an outdated notion that someone will lose a limb due to the placement of a tourniquet. That was the belief for many years, but it's not true. That belief, though, kept TQs off of ambulances for decades. Since the Boston Marathon bombing, many/most civilian EMS agencies (and LEOs) are carrying them again. Yes, training is essential, but a TQ is easy to learn to apply and will potentially save a life. It's my Number 1 most crucial carry in a personal first aid kit, and I always carry two.

    "Stop the Bleed" is a great training program that our HOG Chapter used and Kits similar to yours were made available. Great idea that most people don't think about having on their bikes. Never leave home without it! Great product at a great price.

    As a field medic, that looks like a very good civilian with a basic first-aid knowledge kit. You are correct in stating that tourniquet is often overlooked. I am also happy you included the sharpie. The only item missing is a small mirror. (Cramer sports medicine makes a small rubber protect mirror if you are looking).

      Just remember, you are a field medic, which has been professionally trained, as with Mr Urlacher. To use a tourniquet is a choice to possibly loose a limb in order to save a life. Most untrained people should get proper training before using one, let alone carry one. It's a good kit worthy of its price.

      @katiestuber395 After thought, you have mirrors on the bike. So I would retract my statement about the mirror.

    I really like the form factor and the external TQ. I would dispense with the 10¢ gauze pads and instead add a chest seal 2pk, compressed Z-fold, Quick Clot, and an NPO 28fr.

    Before my wife and I went on our southern Ohio run last fall I purchased a really good first aid/trauma kit, it was the first time we were going solo on a multiple day trip and I wanted to be ready for anything. Great informative video once again too

    I would include coagulation powder or a small impregnated bandage along with adhesive sutures. Really beyond that you have put together a good kit. Well done.

    Some type of wound wash would also be helpful. As an ER RN, most m/c accidents I saw involved some road rash. A small bottle of sterile saline, or at least a bottle of water to flush the wound would be helpful. CVS sells their own brand of wound wash which is benzalkonium chloride and also lidocaine chloride, which would help reduce pain.

    Great kit. and great video. I always have one with me. Bike and automobile. Just be careful of knock off tourniquet. CAT are the way to go. I know you want to keep the price down on the kits. Also you can use the triangle bandage (cravat) with your sharpie or a stick and do a homemade tourniquet. Hopefully you never need to use one let alone 2 at the same time. Swat T are good Tqs. They aren't to big in size and can be used on larger people , children and even pets. It can also be used as a pressure bandage as well. Lastly some quikclot dressings. Always good to have to pack wounds that are bleeding and hard to control. they are the same size as the 4x4 bandages. Always make sure your Tq is set to go just in case you have to apply it to yourself. To think at one time Tqs were your last resort in bleeding control ,now it almost your first go to bleeding control

    Great video. I would throw in a couple of occlusive dressings, non-stick dressings and a small flashlight. Alcohol wipes have a shelf life, so they need to be changed out every few months. I like the Dud wipes. Ride safe.

  • @bradiacm7828

    It's a good kit, which should be followed up with proper first aid training in order to be fully able to use its capabilities. I see a lot of well intentioned riders buy something like this, throw it in their side cases, and haven't a clue how to use it - especially the tourniquet!
    It's one thing to have the tools, its another to have the knowledge, and be practiced at it. I've got several different monkey wrenches and screw drivers, 🤪let me put that Screaming Eagle cam in your bike.

    Great video and great idea, will be throwing one in my bag. Just a note, the patch is a Swiss flag not the official Red Cross symbol, which is Red on a white background. It is a common mistake. Keep up the good videos!

    Paramedic son hooks me up so I won't be buying for myself but this looks like a good Christmas gift. You did a better job of keeping it slim though. I also add ibuprofen for those long sore ass days that even the butt buffer can't solve and some antihistamine for when I ride through farmlands that aren't friendly to the allergies.

      I would not recommend a black bag - the camel color is easier to find when you have a lot of gear in your saddle bag.

    • @mikespillane1838
      @mikespillane1838 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drleongonyo1 valid point, that’s why it’s important to have the medical cross on your kit so it can be quickly grabbed. I have been riding for almost 30 years and I make sure that my usual crew knows what is where on my bike, things like jump pack, air compressor and medical are all kept in my tour pack.
