Why are people so attached to their mobile phones and feel they require their constant attention? No - locking your mobile in the boot or out of reach isn't a particularly good idea because you could need to use it if you have an accident or serious incident during which you cannot leave the driving seat for some reason. I put it in the arm rest or side door if I am not using it as a GPS and just ignore it if it rings. Having the ability to get it in emergency situations could mean the difference between life or death.
What’s bullshit about EV’s being branded zero emissions is, the emissions are connected to the power station used to charge the vehicle and not coming out the back of your car
A fixed fiscal penalty is only a punishment for the poor, not for the rich. It's the points on the licence that rich people want to avoid, a £200 is of no consequence to people who make that money in less than a couple of hours. Make it a percentage fine proportional to the perpetrator's income.
Well, all I can say is totally out of date if the mobile phone one is anything to go by. Been £200 +6pnts for long enough for R v BARETTO to reach the supreme court (for want of a better description) in Sept 2019. Currently interactive communication needs to be proved for this charge. Holding you phone will Still be applicable to driving without due care & attention or driving not in a position to be in proper control.
I have a solution to speeding it is if the speed limits made more sense no one would speed 70 mph on the motorway has been in place since the 60s when cars would only just do that speed and brake from that speed so why can’t we go 80 to 100 now when the cars are capable of that speed and definitely capable of stopping with disc brakes now when at the time it was drum brakes
Not a bad idea Sam problem is their are so many more cars it's getting harder and harder to go faster. Everyone would actually get everywhere far quicker if busy junctions everyone stuck to 50mph
Stopping isn't everything though. Reaction times haven't improved (probably worse with distractions - phones, in car systems etc) plus there's survivability in the case of an accident to consider as well (not just for the speeder but if they e.g. rear end stopped traffic the other road users as well)
The 70 limit came out on Dec 5th 1968 when cars could barely do 70... Motorways should have 100mph limit, its totally safe except for idiots the tailgate and change lane rashly... German autobarn you can do 170 if your cars able and they don't have much trouble with crashes. 70 is ridiculous as are the size of the 1950's measurements for car parking bays.. Cars are a lot bigger today and it's near impossible to park safe... Hence I use disabled bays a lot as they are much bigger 😉

Get a handsfree kit. They are £200. A Tom-tom go is £99. Buy both and you are probably still ahead of a fine I have a 9 year old van and its got hands free AND Sat Nav. There is NO reason to have your phone anywhere near you in a car whilst driving. And it's a great "shaddup" to the cops if they try to pull you for phone use and you produce it from the boot.
Modern cars touch screens should be banned. They are a total distraction. Switch off phones. Even in the 60s one could be in trouble for parking on pavements. The green plates will not be recognised it will still be the number.
Hi mate I want to ask u about something. I have European driving license. I have got a penalty ticket for black tints -6 points in total. When I’m gonna change my europian driving license for British driving licence. How many points I will have ? 12 -6 =6 ? Or I will start with 6 points -6 =0 so I will lost my driving license?
I don't think theres any standardisation or agreements between countries on how (or even if) points are given out - e.g. if I got fined for speeding in Germany, I wouldn't get points on my UK licence. So I think it stands to reason points wouldn't transfer either as there's no agreed way to do it fairly. I suspect you'll be given a clean licence. But would be interesting to hear from someone who knows for sure.
@@spinner4148 hi mate and thanks for answering the comment. I spoke with dvla and they send me this I appreciate you contacting us. When you exchange your licence, the points will transfer over. In the UK, only if convicted of 12 penalty points or more within a 3 year period will you usually be disqualified. If your current record has 6 points, you have a further 6 points before the courts will look to impose a disqualification. I trust this is of assistance.
Another law I’ve just been reading about £2,000 fine for leaving your car in gear when parked up what bloody difference does it make we’ll be getting fines next for leaving your windows slightly open this country is getting pathetic.
Hey Joro, they have not come to definite decision quite yet although it is expected soon. They have however given the go ahead for a clean air zone just not a diesel car ban yet.

Cheers Paul👍
You can't have your phone in your hand, yet there are still taxi drivers using hand-held radio microphones. Double standards?
I live in Germany. Do I need a green (insurance) Card when I come to the UK ?
i have voted for reform makes, & i am rebuilding a web site should be on line at the end of next month.
Get a "Handsfree" head set ... How simple is that but even better switch your phone off ...
What does ADI mean on your none visible red badge . Green L Plates have been legal in Northern Ireland for years 😢
Put it on Airplane Mode.
What if the car has stop start and it’s stopped
Effectively the car is still running. Take the key out or 'stop' the engine and take off your seatbelt.
I agree with the phone thing. Hands free is a thing in 2024.
DONT USE A MOBILE PHONE.
GUESS GOVERNMENT
IS GOING TO MAKE ALL SIDE ROADS WIDER
FOR PARKING AND EVERY POT HOLE
I have got 6 points on my license because I used to work with motorcycle normal insurance and I passed my driving test few days ago what should I do?
Disc brakes don't reduce stopping distance especially in the wet. Disc brakes prevent brake fade due the brakes over heating in hard use
the cars might be safer but the selfish gits driving them...thats a no
points and fines , points and fines , is that ALL they know to control us with
If Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is available in your car, use it.
I love the apple play works really well.
I see you have Huawej.
What car is that in the background?
Always book MOT one month early, if car passes you get 13 month MOT. If car fails you have a month to sort it out.
Does it not show as failed month early?
@@sebicse3524 never did for me, always went to the Council test garage because they don’t do any work & won’t find work that doesn’t need doing 🤔
WRONG ... The failed MOT has effect from the date and time of the test even if it was 30 days before your current MOT expired
@@MayYouLiveLongAndProsper my maestro failed for shock absorbers at Council test garage & I had a month to sort it out, maybe it depends on whats failed 🤔
@@iantheinventor8151 I am speaking as a retired MOT tester ... After the car has failed you have one month to take advantage of the reduced re-test fee YOU CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR LEGALLY DURING THIS PERIOD EXCEPT TO AND FROM THE TEST CENTRE using the shortest possible route ... if it takes longer than one month to fix the car you have to re-take the test
I went past a mobile camera with loud music, will he fine me for that or is it just if you get pulled over? Driving for 12 year with no offences lt will be ridiculous if this is what I get points for. 4pm on country roads passing through a small village with no one around other than the other road users. Any help would be grand,
Hey San Miguel, I'm sure you will be fine. They don't measure noise only speed so as long as you weren't Speeding.
The government will create any excuse to get money from the people.
I have Apple Music on my phone plugged into my head unit , while driving hope that’s ok .
is that you call your brain...LOL
So josh , I read that points stay valid for 3 years but stay on for 4 , could you clarify what that means , I got 3 points just under 2 years ago , am I back to zero and in the clear in 1 year then ? And the extra year is just for idk visibility purposes and nothing to worry about in terms of the number I have
Get a handsfree kit. They are £200. A Tom-tom go is £99.
Buy both and you are probably still ahead of a fine
I have a 9 year old van and its got hands free AND Sat Nav. There is NO reason to have your phone anywhere near you in a car whilst driving.
And it's a great "shaddup" to the cops if they try to pull you for phone use and you produce it from the boot.
'Swankey'... thats very nearly what i was thinking
Modern cars touch screens should be banned. They are a total distraction. Switch off phones. Even in the 60s one could be in trouble for parking on pavements. The green plates will not be recognised it will still be the number.
The points thing would be a good thing in the USA.
Government doesn't own tax mot or insure my vehicle so there laws are illegal
I spoke with dvla and they send me this
I appreciate you contacting us.
@@spinner4148 There is an agreement between Ireland and the UK, points can be transferred between both countries.
So you should, it's a mega distraction when driving. If you obey the rules of the highway code, then you should be o.k.
Stop/Start system in traffic..engine off ?
Another law I’ve just been reading about £2,000 fine for leaving your car in gear when parked up what bloody difference does it make we’ll be getting fines next for leaving your windows slightly open this country is getting pathetic.
Source? Because I don't believe this
@@mathisnotforthefaintofheart Me neither. If you have a manual transmission it is policy to leave it in gear when parked, whether on a hill or not.
Not so much policy,as common sense it's an additional safety feature if the handbrake fails.
You'd spend more time looking at your side view mirror that glancing at your phone.
could be from the squad car behind you
Very useful info. Is Bristol still banning diesel cars?
Hey Joro, they have not come to definite decision quite yet although it is expected soon. They have however given the go ahead for a clean air zone just not a diesel car ban yet.
They need to ban EV’s they are Shite.
I think statistically more accidents are caused when drivers are turning the head talking to passengers now why isn't that illegal. I wonder how many accidents police have caused talking on their radio's been distracted😂😂😂
good info but now out of date keep up to date for your own good
Does this Range Rover use paddle shifters?
It does have paddle shifters but I don't really use them except accidentally when I knock them and end up driving at 30 in first gear😂
You have just said when your engine is on .well what about if your in an EV 😱😱😱
