Terrific match. We watched this in the pub in Aviemore. There was a table of England supporters near us who were obviously having a great time during the first half, but went a bit quiet when we came back. At the final whistle, I bumped into one of them on the way to the bar and in a strong Yorkshire accent I got -"Ere lad that were a fookin crackin' game. Best match I've seen int long time" I agreed, we shared a handshake. No animosity, no moaning, no ifs or buts - just solid appreciation for the game. This is still my favourite Scotland match by a long shot, even though it was a draw.
Although I am a Welsh fan and am disappointed with their 6 nations tournament, I have always thought Scotland were an unlucky team, often playing superb rugby, but not coming away with the win. good luck Scotland !!!
This match should be displayed as an example of how to play with the right attitude. Both teams, showed how to never give up, believe in yourself and each other, and you can overcome. Bravo and thank you for sharing such glorious triumph of spirit.
I am Scottish but live in the SW of England (all my life). I enjoy the banter and can stand my ground. I was busy telling everyone in the pub that it was only Scotland B as there were so many injuries. Then the turnaround and all hell broke loose. Great day in the Digby Tap in Sherborne, great rugby banter and great following a sport where you can have that banter without a fight. I will never forget that match, I doubt I will see another like it. It was a 3 day hangover.
I'm a Scot who lives in the English Midlands. I remember my pals consoling me coming up to half time and telling me at least McInally had salvaged a consolation try. By the end, they were all cheering England scraping a draw... says a lot about their second half performance. Fair play to my mates they were good about it and I got bought a few pints after the game.
English here. Was the most outrageous Calcutta Cup match I can ever remember - the atmosphere in the stadium was amazing and all fans left dumbfounded, flabbergasted and together drank in the mutual victory of an incredible draw!

I was at a Nottingham Panthers ice hockey match during this game and went in to the arena with us losing 31-0. I dreaded to think what the final score would be. When I came out at between periods and saw Scotland 'level', I had to look at the screen over and over again in disbelief. What a great game of rugby.
I was in Edinburgh that day watching it in a pub. Walked out disgusted before half time as it looked like Scotland were going to get hammered by 50 plus points. Heard a cheer from the pubs and thought, “a consolation score”. Then another and another. Rushed back to my hotel to see the last 30 minutes. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing, it was almost a win but I’ll take that draw all day long! Incredible game of rugby…
yeah, no clue what the ref was arguing there? "they both ended up on the floor..." yeah, and? thats no argument why the shoulder charge is any more legal. He purposfully tucks his arm in so it hits harder...
He got away with 2 at least yellow carded "tackles" against South Africa and Australia which were crucial as they stopped what would likely have been tries. Farrell has proved fragile against Scotland since this game and the recent win for Scotland just rubs it in more. I watched this game online to a Gaelic commentary. I couldn't understand a word, but the last 45 minutes of the game would be the most exciting I have seen. Oh, except the 96-19 drubbing of the Waratahs by the Crusaders in 2002. Andrew Mehrtens converted 13 of the 14 tries scored that day.

I heard that the Scotland players trudged back to the dressing room at halftime fully expecting a real telling off from Townsend. Allegedly a group of senior players told Townsend to be quiet. They said to him that they had been playing to his instructions for 40 minutes and look where that has got them. In the second half we will play the game our way; the rest is history.
Scotland is an extremely impressive team, I think they are the one who understand the best the Colommiers method by Villepreux (and Galthié), they just lack a bit of technical consistency, finding the exact right move, this exact je-ne-sai-quoi. I know they got it in their guts, and we'll have a great RWC come Autumn ! From Paris with love,

If any game shows why Farrell should not be England's no 10, this displays it brilliantly. 1st try - poor kick charged down. No need to do anything like that at 31-0 up. Equalising try - poor pass leading to an interception. No arms tackle - could well have been a yellow.
Last comment in the video is "England has saved themselves" - Not true at all. Once again Ferrell gets off the hook - the ref saved England "once again".
As a very proud Scot, never have I been so devastated not to win and yet so happy to draw. 2023 is thus far a repeat of what we saw in this game........World class rugby 🏉 Bring on The Frogs!!

I watched this match and it has to be one of the best of all time...how Scotland didn't win it in the end, they obliterated England....I was shocked and stunned. I thought we had it wrapped up....
Fantastic by Scotland, but the lack of commitment in defence by England is pretty elementary. I love it. There is a picture of pure joy, and it’s a Scotsman celebrating giving England a good hiding.
Magic Russell and Captain Scotland were amazing that day. I really think this was the game that prompted Jones to think about shifting into an all-out kick-and-chase defensive gameplan later.
Was I the only scotsman that turned the tv off at half time. My biggest regret ever. Not sure who was the happiest team. Both must have felt lost and won.
This game is even more beautiful because it's a draw. Neither team deserved to loose and neither team lost. It should be shown to NBA executives who don't want draws even during the regular season.
Too early to say because beating France in Paris is a big ask and defeating a rampant Ireland would be a monumental result. Important that Scotland doesn't get ahead of itself and puts too much pressure on the players.

After the 80 minutes were up, and Just before England's last ditch try to equalize, England almost scored right on the left touchline. I really wished they had scored then because the conversion was far more difficult. Wasn't to be. Great game though.
England Lineout which led to early try was blatantly not straight. The ball went straight to the England player. Check the video. Why didn't the linesman call it?
And the flaws of the rush defence with big backs are exposed. Can’t negate a flyhalf standing with depth if the loosies are committed to the ruck, and can’t turn at speed once the line is broken. It’s just a wall. And a wall only needs one breach…
