      Thanks! I think it is very important to let patients know what is going on as the sensation of a joint dislocation can feel very weird due to the joint capsule stretch. Visceral rather than somatic pain.

    You can hear his heart beat on the monitor go faster as it’s getting put back in, it even skipped a beat for a second when his arm got all the way to the top LOL

      The stretch on the joint capsule is a really strange sensation for patients (visceral rather than somatic pain) so even if the pain severity is manageable the experience can be intense. I always make sure that patients can tell me to stop if if is too uncomfortable and switch to some strong analgesia. The best analgesia is a quick relocation if possible.

    Here in California USA when I dislocated my shoulder and plus a few vertebrae's in my back out of alignment they had me hooked up to an IV D5W TKO with MS then they were able to move the shoulder back into place then they call the chiropractor in to put the vertebrates back into place thank you for sharing this video

    I have quite stretchy joint tissue and the first time I dislocated my shoulder it just went back in. I learned how to fix it on the third time it happened. We had to drive down the hill to the hospital and I had to hold up my elbow in front of me and tried to keep it as still as possible and even asked my friend to help me when I got tired. And when we arrived I found out that it was so easy to fix😅 The doctor just raised my hand up slowly while letting my elbow hang in a relax manner and gently rub my shoulder and the it went back in just like that. And I use this method since then but the worst was when it happened in my sleep when I was alone. That was the real torture 😅

    I've seen this one video where are the guy massage the shoulder and the arm and part of the bicep in the shoulder went back into place then I saw another video where are they adjusted the shoulder back into place like how they do the back with a chiropractor then I saw another video where the pop a shoulder back into place by using their feet then I saw another video when you put this heavy book in a person's Arm with the assistance of this heavy book the massage the shoulder area and the weight of the book they were able to pop a shoulder back into place without any pain

    I know each countries different but are they allowed to give the patient anything for the pain if they're going to be moving the shoulder around

      If they do they usually just give them a giggle whistle.

      If they do the reduction correctly they don't need meds

    • @kaylaharper6386

      They gave my mom pain meds in the ambulance on the ride to the hospital. Administered morphine at the er. she fell and hurt her shoulder & knee & was in immense pain. Turned out to be a dislocation of her shoulder and they gave an I.v. Sedation and then popped it back into place. She didn’t even know they were done. then it popped back out then a couple minutes later and they reset it and it worked. She was drugged but fine.

      Yeah, I know, this looks so painful. Big ouch!!!!

    • @neilcunningham7905
      @neilcunningham7905  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. The priority is reducing the shoulder with an anatomically sensible technique and as little force as possible. Some patients can tolerate this with no drugs, others need full sedation because they are in pain or distress. I would probably sedate patients in about 10% of times. Individualising care for each patient every time is the way to go, definitely not “see if I can do it without drugs.”
