The bass and drums, have a hell of a pocket going on. Then she comes in with that slide from left field somewhere, and great bluesy/soulful vocals.........................DAMN!!!
I first heard of her on NPR in 1992 Sunday morning edition. I believe she played this--it's one of her signature tunes and she's obviously perfected it. I need to see her live.
IT'S A RAINY AND CHILL NIGHT, HERE IN FRANCE. I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THIS, WHILST MOOCHIN ON THE TUBE, JOANNA YOU ARE WONDERFUL, VOICE, GUITAR, EMOTION, YOU REALLY ARE UP THERE WITH THE BEST. THANK YOU FOR THE RECORDING AND UPLOADING. THIS RAINY NIGHT NOW ROCKS. PLEASE POST MANY MORE...... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ......... MERCI MERC TRES BEAUCOUP
WOW!!! She plays with pleasure and desire. Can you imagine Ms. Connor and Leslie West ont the same stage? There will not be any brick on the wall at the end.
I really enjoy Joanna's playing and singing, but she really needs a drummer and not a "drum owner"! Honestly, the guy barely played anything that should have been played in that song. The bass and drums are supposed to lay down a foundation for the soloist, not build a rickety scaffold for them and that's how this song sounds to me! I had a very hard time focusing on just how very good Joanna is. Not trying to hurt feelings, just giving my honest opinion as a "new fan"!
Just discovered this woman, she is so damn talented
She can really rock that slide. Nice emotion in her playing!
I just found out about her a couple of days ago and have been listening to her on every video I can find. Incredible !
Joanna Connor ( born August 31/1962 ) is an American Chicago-based blues singer, songwriter, and a virtuoso guitarist.

Think I have found a new favorite......

Joe Bonnamossa is a big fan of hers😍
Joanna really knows her way around a guitar neck. But, as good as she is, I just don't understand why she has remained relatively unknown.
If her and Duane Allman would've had a child... 🎸
