- www.vladtv.com - In this VladTV exclusive, Los Angeles rapper Hopsin gave his thoughts on religion and why he's not favorable of it at this point in his life.
After confessing to being a hardcore Christian three years ago, the rapper says his mind state changed when he took a step back to evaluate how much religion shaped his and other people's lives. He then goes on to say he wants to "love God," but religions can sometimes contradict someones primitive thoughts and actions. He added the idea that everyone seems to be designed to view fun the same ways like drinking and partying, but frowns upon other things because of their religion.
Comparing them to gangs, the rapper says everyone is believing the same thing, but their messages are told in different ways. - บันเทิง

I think alot of people who say "God isn't real" are afraid to read the bible because it might put a halt on there hedonist lifestyles. But I have read the bible, and I do not believe in the bible. ***** Yea the bible was written by man but so is the history and science books. You'd have a scientist come up with a theory and have evidence supporting said theory. Then like 80 years later there might be another scientist that found new evidence disproving the first scientist's theory. It's amazing to me how a good portion of group of people that deny the existence of God can be as close-minded and rigid as the religious people they malign. I'm a Christian but I also understand that it's important to respect and acknowledge other people's viewpoints and belief systems. If you don't believe in God, you aren't my enemy. We can have a conversation. We can even disagree. The most important thing at the end of the day is respect.

Liam. First and foremost people are afraid of death. Its a tough concept. Religion attempts to give you an answer for a question that none of us know the answer too. Some reassurance. Beyond that though I think its a lot to do with tradition. Your Grandma went to church, your mom did, they took you. If you've been exposed to it your entire life growing up it gets drilled into you.

This guy is awesome. I personally think that Belief is an excuse for not knowing. If there is a God, I want to know it exists; not simply believe. And with my current brain power & perception, that's like measuring the ocean with a foot scale. No one's beliefs are original. Religion is a cultural thing. It seems like one's beliefs are usually influenced by the environment in which they grow up in. Sure, people do convert but this is how it usually turns out: if you're raised in a Muslim environment, you'd likely believe in Islam. If you were raised in a Christian or Catholic environment, you'd likely believe in the Bible. (I'm aware that Muslims also acknowledge that the Bible is accurate) If you were raised in a Hindu environment, you'd likely believe in however many Gods or Goddesses out of 330 Million or you could just make up your own. What if you were born during Ancient Greek times? You'd probably believe in Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, Apollo, etc. I'd like to end this by saying that I want to believe that there is more than what we as humans can perceive but I simply do not know so for now, all I can do is seek knowledge & truth without assumptions. Otherwise, I'll only be searching to confirm any beliefs or assumptions that I hold about reality. What I know, I know & what I don't know, I don't know. It's that simple.

You have a point. There are exceptions for sure but usually, people believe in the God(s) of their parents. I'm a former Theist & the closest thing I have to a belief in God is Deism & even then, it's only an idea to me & nothing more. At the end of the day, I'm a humanist & I actively live my life as if there was no God. Religion is a cultural thing & I actually enjoy studying & learning about different beliefs & ideologies. As long as you're not killing or hurting people & such, just pick the one you like the most & enjoy it. Believe in whatever deity you want. Some might disagree with that idea because their religion teaches them that blasphemy is a thing but think of it this way: According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions in the world today & even more than that have existed throughout history. Which ideology is the "True" word of God? One could provide examples of personal experiences but it's all subjective. All religions can't be right but they can all be wrong. I personally think it's all made up though. If there is a Creator, he's beyond our perception & I use the word "if" very lightly.

Brandon Taylor The best part of Hopsin's epiphany was in this interview when he said, as he was investigating Christianity, Islam, what have you, he thought "these are just different gangs like the bloods, or the crypts...". I loved that. He's right. Every religion on earth claims exclusive truth and they all believe essentially the same thing. It's just tribal. That is the best explanation. Some beliefs make a little more sense then others, and some aren't quite as hostile and violent as others, but at their core, the belief systems between ideology's is basically the exact same. The details vary but the big picture is the same. So doesn't the fact that humans just created different ideologies throughout their evolution make perfect sense to you? Who is to say that the jihadist who believes in Islamic doctrine to his core, enough to die for it, is any different then the Christian who believes in Christ so strongly that they are willing to die for it? Who sets the standard for what is more likely true? Humans do. Different cultures determine how they want to sway "truth". But it is all totally subjective. There is no way to prove one over the other. Different groups just have different books.

Kind of weird posting this now. Sometimes, God allows us to go through life to experience the gifts He has given...and come to realize even though you have the skills to do something, if it wasn't for circumstances being the way they were, you would either not be alive to be where you are...or not have the proper discernment for things. Many people in life probably had potential to be something great, but maybe died unexpectedly or experienced something that dictated their choices in life that lead them astray from their potential. Not to make it all about potential...sometimes, God wants us where we are so we find out more about who we are in the great scheme of things. Maybe God is using this to bring you closer to who He is. My hope is that you don't give up on Him because ill-prepared Christians like ourselves don't quite know how to respond when you ask questions. And don't let our bad actions, though you be justified in calling us out on it, deter you from seeking Jesus.

That is obvious if you notice what he said in this video...he mentioned Christianity and Islam. Hobsin could have ended being Muslim reading the Quran. The Quran fit the description like the Bible. I have a religion still, but I'm not a religious person. But, I am spiritualistic, and even if I did denounce my religion, I'd still believe in God, if that makes sense. Basically, I'm a non-practicing Christian, like a lot of Jews are still Jewish but don't actively practice it every day of their lives or go to synagogue.

You can't do that, actually. The tenets of Abrahamic religion don't allow humans to possess agency over divine mandate. God dictates policy, and humans carry it out; they have the freedom to obey or disobey, but nothing else. Humans can't negotiate the terms and conditions of scriptural law. Believing in YHWH/Jehovah/Allah doesn't matter if you don't follow the rules; you have to do both. It's the effect of modernization and pluralism diluting what are essentially primitive, monist theocratic cultures: people want to believe in God, but they have to retroactively soften him up first so they feel okay with it. But YHWH is a totalitarian desert god of war with Draconian legal structures and he doesn't permit humans to have a say in their governance.

However one need not be religious to follow his teachings as his teachings are pretty basic human decency. I don't live my life by the Bible however because I don't need to. just as you have non religious Jews who are still Jewish whether it be by law, or because they may follow some things in the Talmud or what have you. however in many cases, there exists Jews who don't go to synagogue every Saturday and aren't Orthodox but still believe in God. also Judaism, over time, has updated for the present, in a sense as they acknowledged Draconian laws present and such.

Right, they exist, but technically, they still don't have the right to select which rules they follow and don't. According to Scripture, YHWH is perfect, so whatever laws he laid down millennia ago in the Torah can't be changed, because by extension those laws are perfect as well. To alter them is to innovate, or to presume that humans exist on the same level as God and can therefore affect policy. Technically, that's blasphemy and, if I'm not mistaken, a capital offense. So the only way to worship YHWH properly is exactly the way it was done from the last time he spoke or commanded humans in the last chronological book of the Torah; after that, no other additions occurred so no changes could be made.
Now, if you're a Christian, then you can incorporate the New Testament as well. If you were a Muslim, you incorporate the additions in the Qu'ran. But any new things stop on the last page and nothing can be altered or changed after that because only divine word can have any effect. Human words have no executive properties in Abrahamic religions.

The circumstances around you should not affect your view on the things God is trying to show you. My advice is. Be Still. Be silent and listen. People will always be people. Just notice. The people that do bad things and still go to church have come to the realization that they need God. Why else would they come back to church? Some think that by going to church then they will be clean. That's not how it works. A sense of a CLEAR self realization within you means everything. Regardless on what everyone else is doing, it beats going to church.
