Thanks for listening as always. Here's the times for this very jazzy OST. Words in "[" are context 1:00 The Beginning of Our Memory [Opening Theme] (Yatsunori Mitsuda) 4:30 Lasaria Woodland (Manami Kyota) 8:51 Battle!!!-Torna (Kenji Hiramatsu) 17:08 Four-Limbed Titan-Gormott (ACE) 23:24 Kingdom of Torna-Day (ACE) 27:55 Kingdom of Torna-Night (ACE) 34:03 Auresco, Royal Capital-Day (Manami Kyota) 36:58 Auresco, Royal Capital-Night (Manami Kyota) 42:15 Over Despair and Animus [Malos theme] (Yatsunori Mitsuda.) Also a remix of Amalthus's boss theme. 45:54 Our Paths May Never Cross [Gort Theme] (Yatsunori Mitsuda) Also a remix of Jin's boss theme. 49:57 A Moment of Eternity [Ending/Jin's Theme] (Yatsunori Mitsuda, vocals by Jen Bird) 55:25 TH-cam Superchats
Our paths may never cross is for sure just jins theme in the game tho. Obviously its a remix of jins theme in the base game but the title is also a reference to jin and gramps talk in the credits.
@@kayden2119 Well the talk happens during A Moment of Eternity. Our Paths May Never Cross is the final boss theme. Yes at it being a remix of Jin's boss theme. Just like how Over Despair and Animus is a remix of Amalthus's boss theme. Edited OG comment for extra facts.
@@GCLU Im not saying that talk happens with this music playing my point is that the song is clearly referencing jin. The song really has nothing to do with gort. Its still jins theme its just playing for him while we are playing as him instead of fighting him.
Torna’s battle theme is one of my favourite tracks in the series. The use of more Jazz inspired music in Torna, could be seen as a reflection of the expansions story of being set in the past. As the 1920’s/30’s is seen as the Golden Age of Jazz and Auresco has a bit of an Art Deco look aswell as it’s feudal Japanese one.
The town theme really sold me on Torna I think. Obviously knowing what will happen contributes to that feeling but its such a haunting yet soothing composition, both the day and night version. It sounds like a lovely memory thats clouded by trauma. It has a somber undertone under it's beauty. It was strange bc I was not really into the narrative of 2 all that much, yet this small town in Torna really engaged me
This is EXACTLY how I feel about Auresco. The moment I entered the capital and heard the beautiful theme, I cried. It was so heartbreaking to me, knowing the tragic fate of these wonderful main cast and the beautiful country they lived in.
A little bit of context for this dlc. It’s essentially a prequel to the entire story that sets up the backstory for a lot of the older characters in this game. According to creator of this game, thematically it would make sense to play this between chapter 7 and 8 of the main story, but he felt for many it would kill the pacing of the original game so it’s left off to the side as it’s own story.
I feel something got a little mixed up. Torna was supposed to be part of the main game, but they felt having a prolonged sequence that plays differently wouldn't fit the pacing, so it got scrapped and released as a DLC expansion instead.
Eh I don't agree. The prequel doesn't hide any remaining characters' allegiances because its clear by the time of this, it should be known knowledge for all the characters involved. My thought was more like mid/late chapter 8, but definitely not between 7 and 8.
something interesting to note about the trading 8s is that the battle system focuses on trading off between team member which leads me to think they intentionally linked the battle music with the system which is brilliant!
A Moment of Eternity is such a gorgeous song that does not get the credit that it deserves. In-game the audio balance is a little off because it plays during important dialogue in the credits. Please check out both it and covers of it if this stream was your first experience to it out of the game. Also there's a beautiful parallel between A Moment of Eternity and One Last You. Both credits song are from the perspective of someone that's passed on. They're also both celebrations of life rather than songs of sorrow or mourning. One Last You is about being thankful for the lives that have touched them and made life worth living. A Moment of Eternity is about reassuring those left behind that they can grieve, but they need to eventually move on because they deserve to enjoy life just as much as they did.
Moment of Eternity is such an interesting music piece in Torna. Just analyzing the lyrics, you would think it's supposed to be a happy song, or at least a comforting one, but the context in which it is played makes it beautifully ironic and heart breaking. And in retrospect, it also kind of hints toward what Xenoblade 3's story is going to be about.
I never played the game, but this music is impressively beautiful. There's something in it that reminds me of those beautiful songs played in the Catholic Mass. It tunes like comfort and salvation.
@@Leonardo-uh3vs Takahashi likes to incorporate many theological and philosophical ideas into his stories. He draws a lot of inspiration from Greek myths, Biblical themes, and the works of Carl Jung. It's more blatant when experiencing the stories, but you can hear a lot of it in the music, especially when the choir is involved.
Yeah. I kind of know that the Xeno series carries that for its name. I played thoroughly the entire Xenosaga series. I mean, like back and forth. I don't know if Takahashi was involved, but I would suspect. For me they designed in URTV Albedo the most interesting character I've ever seen, even comparing video games with books and movies. As for the Xenoblade Series, I never played it because they've always been exclusive to Nintendo. But I admit that the looks of XCX are really attractive to me. Reminds me a lot of Xenosaga.
@@Leonardo-uh3vs The whole Xeno franchise is helmed by Takahashi. He has been creating these worlds and stories for over 20 years. Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade. I have yet to play Gears or Saga 2 and 3, but every game I've played from him and his team has impressed me in its ambition and care.
Interesting point about the acoustic instruments. Torna also reuses tracks from base XC2, like Battle in the Skies Above, which funnily enough is used for mechanical enemies, that kind of emphasises a biological life vs machines type of theme that also XC1 has. Without spoiling much, but the world of Torna, outside of the bad things happening at the time, is basically showcasing the natural order of its world, which gets disturbed by the time of XC2. Thanks for listening to Torna too.
Love the DLC for XC2, especially its music! When it released and the VGM TH-cam scene got a hold of that battle theme it became a big inspiration for a lot of composers and arrangers. An example would be "Golden Battle" by insaneintherainmusic. There's obviously a ton of covers of the torna battle theme, but it's really fun and interesting to look at original music inspired by jazzy video game music, particularly talking about what torna inspired. Great reaction as always, I look forward to watching your other stream from today :) P.S. Gormott's theme in torna is defo my favourite XC2 track, absolutely love it
I highly recommend listening to the xenoblade chronicles 3 ost. My favorite pet of all time is xenoblade 2’s ost but xenoblade 3’s is absolutely a close contender to my favorite ost of all time. Highly recommend you listen to it.
Loved watching all your Xenoblade 2 reactions just as I loved watching you react to Xenoblade 1! I can't wait to see you do 3 someday, the wait for 3's DLC and the full soundtrack is already painful!
If “A Moment of Eternity” doesn’t play at my funeral, then I’m not going! In all seriousness, this song actually makes me cry every time I hear it. The lyrics have so much meaning behind them!!
Dang no don't forget me reaction. Oh well still this has been a magical and emotional journey. Thank you Dan. Hope one day you react to Ys and classic Ys they got incredible music like Xenoblade. UNTO THE NEXT OST JOURNEY!
Just finished watching all of your VODs of reacting to Xenoblade 1 and 2 OSTs. Really enjoyed! The official Xenoblade 3 soundtrack just released. I hope you'll have the opportunity to react to it one day. They went a bit crazy with 9 discs this time but it's very good this time again 😂
never did NG+ on Torna until a few months back. i played through it on release. did it again before watching a few LPs of it just to refresh myself. its fantastic DLC, enjoyed it immensely. i already loved XC2, Torna made me love it even more that said every time i see someone suggest playing torna first or stopping xc2 after ch7 to play torna its like, absolutely under no circumstances should you do either of those things.
Yo okay but did anybody else catch the very subtle nod to spirit crucible eylpis in the first measure of Torna's capital city themes? Considering the story implications that's so cool to me

Auresco's music may feel familiar, it uses a very similar melody to 'spirit crucible elpys' on disk 4 of the maid theme
