do you have to have that special oil filter tool to remove the filter? on my current car (ford focus '03) I just hand crank it and it has never leaked or given me issues.
I don't know which one makes me not want to do my own oil change now the plastic oil filter can or the aluminum oil pan? son of a bitch Volvo what the hell
Thank you for this informative video. I have been taking my vehicle to a national chain that specializes in oil changes. They place a mileage amount at which I should return for a change. My odometer shows that I should be able to drive 2500 more miles before the next change. I checked my oil level and found that I am two quarts low. I have not noticed any evidence of oil leaks where I park my car. Is it possible for my 2012 Volvo S60 to burn through 2 quarts of oil in driving 2800 miles since the last oil change?
Hi Bridgette, Let me make it clear that our Volvo's are quite different--the S60 in this video uses the older inline 5 engine which typically did not have oil consumption issues (unless you have worn turbocharger components, like mine). I've actually been in the market recently for a 2016 V60 (with a similar engine to your S60) and have read many reviews online stating that the car is extremely oil thirsty. Some of the reviews even mentioned that they could not go an entire oil change interval without adding additional oil. While this is unfortunate, it's not necessarily going to affect the driving ability of the car. Just add a quart of oil mid way through your OCI and there should not be an issue. Make sure you read the manual and use the correct type of oil.
5w-30 is fine for Sweden but why the heck would u not use the 5w-40 Ferrari grade oil (been good) or 0w-40? DO NOT USE 5w-30 LL OR 0w-30 LLX as they show for lowsulphur petrol oil and we ain't got that so they lack EXTREMELY needed additives that the first two have. Nor sure if u can find the additive or no.
You explained really well! thanks!
great video, just shocked no funnel to fill the new oil. Plus no mention of oil weight
Thats a great Explanation, it seems very easy to do. By the way, my S 60 have the same colour like your one. Greets from Germany
It’s realyeasy

Does it sound better with or without the oil change? Drive better as well?
