On tv they said these walls are high enough to remain effective for the next 100 years. I think that’s being very optimistic.

My favourite time down there when the seas rough, so refreshing. Hopefully coming down in September. I'm off to do a 12 hour shift driving a coach around London so your video has put me in a positive mood for the rest of the day. Thanks for sharing. 👍😀

No. Idiocy like this hasn't been done since the French built the Maginot line. Leaving a gap not covering attack thru Ardenau Forrest, over the Meuse River and thru Sedan.
This is even worse. A shoddy, ordinary hours understaffed go slow job.
Whether there is any point given the obvious changing tide and underwater sentiment combined witj industrial and climate change I doubt.
Why the hell didn't Cameron or Blair earlier reopen the withered arm one of those numerous closed but still existing rail corridors.Alower routes you say.Actually the Royal Navy isn't a third of the size in the 1960s or 1970s so obviously the rail traffic is much less today particularly for the high payment booze and business trains Don't have that or the Devon Bell and Atlantic coast express anymore .No. More case a realistic route should have been reopened a decade ago. OMG. And as Brian Wilson said , God only Knows.

Looks no better to be honest, no more effcient. I have seen the sea much higher and rougher. The only difference is the new concrete is considerably uglier and has pretty much ruined the Victorian charm of Dawlish seafront, especially the beach.

Should be 100 ft of rock armour all along the length of that wall , sea shouldn’t be anywhere close , interLocking concrete if rock is too expensive , can’t believe they’ve let the wall tested like this after all the money, disruption and planning involved

i think they have made a mistake there. The curve at the top of wall is to SMALL I assume this is not high tide either you have to film this more often. See how long it will last when winter comes. Nice subject

Oh Good! Another armchair expert who knows nothing about how these things work. No matter what you do, there will always be spray blowing over in high seas. The engineering on this project is superb, as it should be, with them having employed some of the world's most experienced tidal engineers.
If you think you can do better, go ahead!!
