No but's. David scored. Canada won 1-0. He buried a very difficult opportunity. I find many Canadian fans have unrealistic expectations of how individuals and the team as a whole should perform every game they play. He scored a monumental goal. The first ever for Canada in Copa America. He helped secure Canada's first Copa America win. There was no fluff, there was brilliance by David to score a goal that most would not score. He also played amazing on the defensive side of the ball and reads the play so well. Crepeau has been so strong in goal. No arguments with him being MOTM. Standing in the sun for the first half while the Peru goalie played in some shade. Hats off to both Crepeau and David and the whole Canadian team. History will show a 1-0 win for Canada. And that is truly what matters.
@trevorkew6097 Not true at all. Mediocre first half but the 2nd half he was amazing at simply facilitating Shaffelburg down the left hand side and either overlapping or dropping into the middle of the park to form a more solid defensive line.
I totally disagree with your take on Shaffleberg! Using your logic, Davies should be a Super sub too, because as you put it, his outside speed will be limited because Chili will be fresh & organized. Playing inside is not Davies best strength at this point in his career either. I am not comparing these 2 players; but you can't tell me that Shaffleberg can't make these terrific runs in the 1st half too & his speed should also help defensively in shutting Chili down. I hope that he starts, because he has earned it, maybe more than anyone else on the team not named Crepeau. The worst that could happen is that perhaps he would play no better than Tajon. If that is the case, then you bring on Tajon later in the game & see if he can be the Super sub. He has terrific speed & skill too.
