+Ismael Martinez (theizzy555) i have a buddy trying to teach me to fly fish for trout on a shallow fast flowing river. the casing took me about an hour or 2 to get "ok" at it, enough to catch fish. but with trout, you have to fight with them a lot more to tire them out. im sure with larger bass you would have to as well? so far i like it and worth the sport if you can afford nice equipment

kkh369 That's be awesome! I am planning on buying a Fly outfit in a few weeks. I thought about a Hobbs creek by White River. I wanted to go with the line weight 5 and not sure about the lenght... 8'6 vs 9?
kkh369 Well I'm a BassPro Shops associate so I get a pretty good discount on their products this is why I like to go with their home brands. 9ft 5weight is what I will then get. How about the flies? Leaders? Do I need waiders, fly jacket? I do not know anything about fly fishing so I am kinda lost...

If you keep the line tighter on the forward and back cast, you will get tighter loops and more accurate casts. I hope this helps. I love all your prank videos, just found your fishing channel.

I feel ya with the wind brutha. I HATE fishing in the wind. I hate it with a passion. It's especially windy out here in Utah near Utah Lake where I usually have the opportunity to fish.

When retrieving a fish, keep the main line under your middle finger on your rod hand and strip in with the off hand. Just keep picking up the line with your middle finger as you strip it in, that way your line will stay tight.

im a novice fly fisherman. but isnt the fly not supposed to keep hitting the water while making your casts...?
***** Depends on the fish and location. Clearly, he didn't have to worry about it too much.

Don't lift your line off the water to cast it scared the bass

Don't use the rod to give the fly action, just strip my man

@@colejackson3534 Cole, because when you drop the rod tip back down to create your next movement, you lose contact with the fly due to slack line. This might be when the fish hits and you would never feel it. It's not like using a conventional rod where you can reel down as you lower the rod tip to stay in contact. This is just one of several reasons to work the fly by stripping rather than with the rod.
