On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Minneapolis MN on 6-1-22.
We're looking at a 1957 Chrysler 300C Convertible in White Paint. The car comes with the factory 392 CI “Hemi” engine, and an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Randy Guyer. Randy’s had this car since 2017. This car has been put away in a garage since 1968 before the Son of the Owner who passed away called Randy and shared I might have a car you’re interested in. Well, Randy was interested, and here it is.
    ENJOY!

Oh my god…. I love that “C” !!! From the 392 all the way to the black top and white paint, exactly the way I would have ordered it. Can’t wait to see the rest of his mighty collection… another Gem Lou keep it going 👍🏼

A diamond in the rough! This guy has a phenomenal collection of classic Mopars, and this example is no exception. It definitely needs some TLC, but it was a survivor indeed, as far as taking it for a spin, it's better to be safe than sorry. That engine sounds rough, and it is in need of a thorough tune-up! 👍

You sure knew who made the cars you saw on the road coming and going back then. There was no mistaking GM FORD CHRYLSER especially.. Kudos on this great original Lou. Underrated iconic design, in my opinion. Truly a great symbol of 1957 styling.

I have great fondness for true original, untouched classic cars. They creak and cough, have a few age spots on their skin, don’t like to be rushed, and are full of interesting stories. Like us guys that age (or older in my case). Thanks Lou!

My Mom's favourite aunt had that car in white w/blue leather, New Yorker model, 2drht. She took me & 3 cousins to the beach, and it rained all day. When lunchtime came, we ate in it,
my Mom freaking out, putting beach towels down. We fiddled with all the buttons; she turned on the engine so we could fiddle more. Then the radio: we discovered Chuck Berry, Mom
& aunt made a face, but let it blare. I discovered cars & rock & roll that rainy day. Aunts favourite expression was "Better than staying home". Got that right! LOL

What a time capsule, it's just at point where if it doesn't any worse there will be no need to restore it. The majority of them are restored, to see a all original one is very cool. 5:43 '50's blue tooth! 7:16 fire power Lou. BTW Glad Noel sent you and you went to Mr. Guyer's collection. Okay. I'm in love. Just watched Neil Young on Letterman talking about alternative fuel for a finned Lincoln. This car is gorgeous. All the way. I mean life is a convertible. Randy what a find. Bench seats. Immediately I was hoping the top worked and it does. Beaming this to friends around the world. Oh I'd love to parallel park this or back in next to some, er, cars from elsewhere. Got fins? Yes. Need cat eye white framed sunglasses and a Grace Kelly scarf to wrap around my head for the cruise. 6 or 7 friends with me.

Lou , you're such a tease.... always saving the engine till near the end when I'm saying from the beginning..."Open the darn hood"..."I wanna see if it's got dual carbs"!
I'm currently taking apart a set of DeSoto 341 heads for a valve job and I'm getting to old to be lifting those early Hemi heads...and the 392 heads are the heaviest... almost gives me a hernia just thinking about it.
What a great survivor car! Thanks for showing us.
P.S. The valve covers say "Fire Power"... the DeSoto Hemi's were Fire Domes and the Dodge's, Red Ram's.

When I was a college student in the 1980s my landlady, who was from Baltimore, said her husband bought a Chrysler 300C convertible new in 1957, in the same color, white. She never liked it because "it was just too powerful." They traded in a Chrysler Town and Country woody convertible, which was a bit more sedate. She had pictures of the cars too and she was driving a Barracuda then.

Amazing true survivor 300-C! Unusual to see the 120 mph speedo instead of the 150 mph speedo installed in most of the 300-Cs and Letter Car years - from the first 1955 C300s thru the 1963 300-Js. This is one of those few 300-Cs that came down the assembly line when the 150 speedo wasn't in stock. I love Randy's comment - being afraid of the car - because it's such a wonderful survivor.

Lou, I forgot to mention THE BRAKE LIGHTS. When someone in front of me brakes I want to know it. Some of these other, er, um, others I'm thinking are they braking? Are they backing up? And you know I think that dust and dirt saved the original top: look at archeological digs. I know I had a new roof put on. The design! Not a MOPAR family, never met one :-) ,but this is fabulous. Put a couple of people in the trunk to sneak into things without paying. Never mind The Stooges and the pods. Heavens! Cleaning those old dashboards with Q-tips. Forget it. I'd love to see it when it's on the road. Got fins? You betcha.

It's interesting that the car has a 120 mph speedometer, instead of the 150. Wayne Graefen's 300C Handbook says that some 300Cs did come with 120s. So it probably left the factory that way.

It's the cam shaft profile,, not any mechanical problem. That is how it should sound. A little fussy about it's first breathes,, normal. I do believe it's called the
""Firedome". That model is the dual four barrel job,, and cammed with the hotter cam,, and a modified torque flite. A true gentleman's hot rod. Finding oem items can be done.

Great to see a rare survivor original like this. Unusual 120 speedo versus standard 150's which my 3 had and oversize generator may have been special ordered that size usually for cars only with air. Wish you were closer so I could visit with you Randy thanks for saving the mopars. Maybe you could posted utube videos of 300's winning races. I have spent entire afternoon looking for one even though they won. ,40 races in 55 and 56 there are only winning Ford Chevy and Buick videos. these cars are supposedly stock that race your trying tell me that stock Buicks with valves the size of lawnmowers and ,265 Chevys and 272 ford's outrun stock 300's. Yeah right
