Amazing work guys! Syd, that was an inspiring performance. And Macky, finishing top 10 with 2 significant crashes is a testament to your toughness. Great videos too!
That’s really bad luck with the lever but the footage following Syd really showed her speed compared to onboard footage. It’s been a great series to watch you both did great
Amazing job and coverage of this race, you guys both killed it! I was gutted to see the crash that put Macky out, but he still finished in the top 10, just goes to show how fast he was going overall. Also, I must say, from a viewers standpoint, it was great to see 3rd person of Syd, and watch her technique in turns, we rarely get to see that so it was nice to get that 3rd person viewpoint interspersed with her POV - great job you two!
A fantastic series of videos, thanks so much. No matter what the final finishing places were for you, Syd and Macky, your viewers came out winners! I hope Macky's recovery is fast, and re-framing his race on the last day was a great life lesson for all of us.
Syd is wild for getting 2nd place in this race. I've watched a few other vids of it and it always seemed like one of the most difficult mtb races one could do. Syd still looked down for a few more days by the end! I'm sure that's not actually true...but still I was impressed. Needless to say it's on my bucket list for sure.
The bright side here is you can analyze Sid's riding style and help her get even better! Great job and Teamwork by you both! All you needed during the Fog stage was some creepy music to really set the scene.
Sooner or later, the JRA crash comes for us all. You’ve probably hit that situation a thousand times before with no problems. Still an amazing experience to ride there, even if the race wasn’t quite how you’d hope it would be. 🤙🤙
Macky, you are living proof that it can happen to the best of us, so the rest of us need to take it a bit steady to learn from your experience. Really nice work you two, and great video/s!!!
Great race from both of you. sucks for Macky to crash and break that lever. but most importantly you didn't injured yourself too much. and Macky with no brake is still fast as hell :O congratz Syd on your second place overall. it was so close. but man, you riding that fast in conditions like that. you kick ass big time! watching your POV, I was thinking how the hell Syd sees anything. truly amazing. awesome race series guys. get some well deserved rest!
Watching you guys race throughout the week (here on youtube 🙂) is inspiring on so many levels. Despite the crashes, sleeping in the tent, equipment troubles, and descending thousands of feet daily, you guys both finished strong as a team. I (Dom) think it's perfectly normal to feel the way you did Macky after that crash and most importantly you shared how you truly felt. The level of transparency is what creates a real-world picture in which you guys are always great at. As far as riding wet and rocky terrain, I couldn't agree more with you and say it's a lot harder than it looks. We had the opportunity to ride in New Hampshire and Maine this summer season and boy I thought I had seen wet and rocky terrain until I got there. It was like riding on a totally different level. There are so many aspects of riding, and every region has something to offer. Wishing you guys the best in all riding no matter where your wheels take you. 🤗🤗
Incredible that was intense that crash made us jump I'm glad you are ok for the most part Mackey wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹. Syd you killed it, drifting in the wet corners super inspiring! Congratulations 🥈🏆
just a fyi, i always keep my levers just tight enough so they don't move around but loose enough so you can move them around by hand......After I did that, I stopped braking levers.
Great job both! The riding was amazing and the story telling and video quality were top notch. But, sand and chamy are words that should not be in the same sentence. 😳
What a bounce back to still finish 10th Macky, great job. Syd you were amazing! I thought you'd pull first, but really strong finish. Amazing work you two. It's astonishing just how much you have to want to do this kind of racing. Just being there and managing your camp, gear, caloric supplies, etc is so daunting. Really inspiring stuff.
Great watching you guys. Mackey you are super fast especially when you’re on blind trails. Syd, congrats on 2nd. Soooo good. Can’t wait for the next one 😊
Good job guys, been a brilliant race to follow, I recall how tough a multi day stage race can be, and Macky taking a big hit on day one and the last day was a tough watch, good job on bouncing back into it lad. Those XT levers always seem to snap, I've seen so many of them this season, and the lever blade is not an easy fix, so even if you have a spare tucked in your bag, it's not a 5 minute job. You guys are super pro... but do you run your brake clamps a little loose, (old Moto trick) saves a broken lever, (I'm sure you do). Awesome ride Syd, congrats to you both.. have really enjoyed this content! thanks again for great coverage..
Seeing Macky crash is almost unreal and to crash multiple times? Wow! I am glad you still made it to top 10 despite the set backs and most of all, that you guys are okay! Congratulations Syd for the AWESOME 2nd place! You Guys are great!
Can always tell you two are going fast but that follow cam action really showed it. Wow! Sucks you went down but it was because both of you were really pushing.
Graduation syd you rode your ass off, That was really sweet I enjoyed it. Macky Sometimes you can run into a little bit of bad luck. Just glad you came out of it okay. You're still the man...
Wow...I just rewatched and, even though I knew Macky was gonna crash, I still jumped again!!! Lols! Glad my wife didn't see it again, lololol!! Hoping Macky is healing well. Happy holidays to you :-))
Syd, watch Macky's POV footage of you. Going into corners where you have to drop speed and get the bike around fast-ish, your hips are pointed one direction but you're leaning the bike and turning in another. I do MTB as a hobby but did serious BMX racing some years ago and I know that the tilt angle & direction of my hips helped with speed though turns. It may have been just the way the footage was shot but I swear your bike and your head go in one direction but your hips are square to where the trail would've continued.
Congratulations Syd and Macky! Great results for both in the end, even considering Macky's bad luck. Incredible that you guys are racing AND creating great content at the same time. Thanks so much for sharing all these videos over all the years!
Nothing, absolutely NOTHING to be embarassed about. You are out there doing it; that whole race is intense and it is impressive what you both have done. Racing on two wheels, things happen quick as you know and you are impressive overall. Can't wait to see what is next!
Such a cool perspective when your riding behind Syd. You guys make me want to get back on the bike and I will once my bicep is healed. Love the videos.
Great job you two. Way to represent!! I really enjoy the great videos that you do. Always gets me fired up to go race. Off to bed now. I have a xc race in the AM. Keep Rollin Syd and Macky!! 👍👊
You guys are amazing as always! Syd incredible well done Macky such strong performance with two crashes. Macky from a lessons learned stand point your two crashes appeared very similar, what are your thoughts on them now that you’ve had time to process?
Amazing video series, guys! Really makes me want to do this race. Thanks for all that you do. You guys have been one of my main sources for learning about racing and have taught me so much. Thanks again!
You both are too brave for your own good sometimes but it paid off for both of you because you never gave up or in lol. Wow what a great race and placings and the views were amazing. AWESOME SERIES!! :) :)
I got broken on a xc race a couple weeks ago on a pedal strike . Never seen it coming . Maybe going a bit to hard and that's the risk of pushing a bit harder . It's strange how that works . It almost feels like your singled out . That was impressive from both of you . Heal up and recalculate the next move .
Hey Macky, I also broke my lever and find out much better and stronger replacement levers for XT brakes. These are Flo Motorsports Pro 120 Levers and they are really great.
Yeah, that was an odd crash. It almost looked like you were going for the left line, but changed your mind at the last second for the more direct line, but couldn't get onto the correct line quickly enough.
❤ yippy been hanging out gor part 5 yes . Oh thanks for the inspiration to get a mtb which I get next week it's a cube aim 29er . I've changed it to a 1 by 10 . New deity bars 800mm , diety copperhead stem 35mm , diety pedals and lock on grips and maxis tubless set up . All thanks to you guys thanks again for the mojo 😅
Love your work! I am just an amateur who get inspired by my smaller crashes. Are there some kind of recommended "pre-flight-checks" before the racing&recording?
Hello, enjoyed your adventure. I am on the planning stage for Trans Madeira. Did you guys fly in one day before the race? How long was your flight for the US? Thanks!
We flew in a few days early (which was good because our baggage was delayed multiple days) and the flight is long (we went through Heathrow). Apparently there are direct flights from the East Coast 🤷♂️
im thinking of getting a new bike as i would like to take on these types of tracks the bike im thinking of getting is an orbea ouiz h30 in any ones opinion is that bike able to take this sort of punishment ?
Amazing work guys! Syd, that was an inspiring performance. And Macky, finishing top 10 with 2 significant crashes is a testament to your toughness. Great videos too!
Yes, a twig as a break lever, I could totally see that working with the speed at which Macky rides 🤣
That’s really bad luck with the lever but the footage following Syd really showed her speed compared to onboard footage. It’s been a great series to watch you both did great

Brakes, Macky don’t need no stinking Brakes.

Syd pushed, crashed, got first. Macky pushed, crashed, got second.
Way to push, you two!!!
10th overall with a crash like htat is still amazing! and great job, Syd!!!
Super fun seeing you guys at 25 hours of frog hollow 💪
Sorry about the crash Macky. Really good to see the difference in lines. Great job Syd!
Macky, you are living proof that it can happen to the best of us, so the rest of us need to take it a bit steady to learn from your experience. Really nice work you two, and great video/s!!!
Mackys been in the ward this week. Amazing effort. Some tough luck. Good job guys
Thank you for taking us along in this great journey 🤙🏾💯🫶🏽

I have never heard Macky's freewheel spin so much
What a bounce back to still finish 10th Macky, great job. Syd you were amazing! I thought you'd pull first, but really strong finish. Amazing work you two. It's astonishing just how much you have to want to do this kind of racing. Just being there and managing your camp, gear, caloric supplies, etc is so daunting. Really inspiring stuff.
Great job guys!! Love seeing you go outside your comfort zones and tackle more technical trails.
Jeesh. "Selling the Drama" by Live @ 17:20 havent heard that in decades. Lol
Spotted that too😊
Every time Macky says "WE HAaaW" I chuckle because I say "Yee Haaaw.
That hit would have shaken anyone up. That's our reality out there. Top 10 regardless! Syd, way to go, loved watching you!
Great watching you guys. Mackey you are super fast especially when you’re on blind trails. Syd, congrats on 2nd. Soooo good. Can’t wait for the next one 😊
Another great series! Those shoulder high / head high channels look super flowy and fun.
Nice Scotty Laughland cameo :)

Hell of a race you two. Awesome job and thanks for sharing it with us!
Wonderful! You two guarantee an entertaining video
Congrats on 2nd place Syd!
Can always tell you two are going fast but that follow cam action really showed it. Wow! Sucks you went down but it was because both of you were really pushing.
Kudos for finishing with a cracked rib my man, those no joke hurt..

Syd, so awesome for you, congrats! Macky, tough day, that looked like a nasty crash! You both did great! What an adventure, congrats!
Great race you two! And thanks for bringing us along for the ride !!
Congrats on the race and 100K subs! Syd Fixes Bikes brought me here! 😂❤
Welcome!
Great fun. Hope you both are ok especially Macky after those two crashes.
Graduation syd you rode your ass off, That was really sweet I enjoyed it.

hello everyone, nice to meet you, I see a good track. I enjoyed the video
Great job you guys! Looks like all that training definitely pays off. Sucky outcome Mackey, but it was a good follow on Syd!
You guys are awesome! Some inspiration for me!
Syd congratulations!🎊🎈🍾
Great job you two!
Congratulations to you both. Great series of videos covering this race, I really enjoyed them! Keep up the good work.
Amazing results, you guys are incredible.
awesome!
Congratulations Syd and Macky! Great results for both in the end, even considering Macky's bad luck. Incredible that you guys are racing AND creating great content at the same time. Thanks so much for sharing all these videos over all the years!
Those trails from the 6min mark look awesome.
Guys I cannot believe how much those trails look like Aussie trails with the gum trees
Nothing, absolutely NOTHING to be embarassed about. You are out there doing it; that whole race is intense and it is impressive what you both have done. Racing on two wheels, things happen quick as you know and you are impressive overall. Can't wait to see what is next!
I thought that's how everyone rode, No Brakes & No Chain!
i havent even seen you turn a wheel on the last day and i dont care if you win lose or crash and burn i love the story!
Such an awesome video and series. I just can't get enough of what you both put out in YT land. Skilled in so many ways. 😊
Waited for these videos the whole year! And yes, they were definitely worth the wait! Amazing riding, filming and story telling!
You guys are amazing as always! Syd incredible well done Macky such strong performance with two crashes. Macky from a lessons learned stand point your two crashes appeared very similar, what are your thoughts on them now that you’ve had time to process?
I really enjoy watching SYD ride
Thanks!
😊bravo and ouch in equal measure. You are both inspiring in the way you handle the ups and downs.
Chest thumpers are always rough crashes. it's the UGGGHHHH
Amazing video series, guys! Really makes me want to do this race. Thanks for all that you do. You guys have been one of my main sources for learning about racing and have taught me so much. Thanks again!
I use the flo motorsports levers on my xt brakes. Seem to be stronger and feel better than the stock ones.
Congrats to both of you. That crash made me jump.
You both are too brave for your own good sometimes but it paid off for both of you because you never gave up or in lol. Wow what a great race and placings and the views were amazing. AWESOME SERIES!! :) :)
Massive congratulations you guys!! Thanks for taking us all along with you on this Awesome adventure!!!

Ouch Macky had a similar crash about 2 months ago snap my brake lever too ended up with a nice bruise on my left side
Hey Macky, I also broke my lever and find out much better and stronger replacement levers for XT brakes. These are Flo Motorsports Pro 120 Levers and they are really great.
Awesome video 💪💪
That was great. Congratulations Syd! Bummer Mackey sh-t happens but great attitude and wow riding last few legs with cracked rib!
Great stuff Syd& Mackay enjoyed the (5 day Series 🚴🚴)👌🏴🏴🤟
What a great week! Thanks for sharing!!
Yeah, that was an odd crash. It almost looked like you were going for the left line, but changed your mind at the last second for the more direct line, but couldn't get onto the correct line quickly enough.

Great riding. Well done!
Damm Macky i feel you have had the same issue on the lever, Shimano's are really fragile... I reccomend the Flo ones
Frustrated, disappointed, and a little embarrassed. Sums up all of my rides.😊
We should ride together. One of us would look good😂. Probably not me but that’s ok. Good times!
Flow moto sport makes break away levers for shimano I had similar crash bent my lever these are great upgrade
Sorry for the problems, Macky, but pretty cool for Syd t have her own follow cam.
YAY go Syd , 😎
Love your work! I am just an amateur who get inspired by my smaller crashes. Are there some kind of recommended "pre-flight-checks" before the racing&recording?
Shimano brakes... Ace! Shimano levers... CACK! 😬
Telling you, If Macky had used a Jet9 he would have won....Jet stand for Just Enough Travel, If its enough, then you do not need more.😉
I wish you could show your MPH some how while you are racing. Good luck.
Hello, enjoyed your adventure. I am on the planning stage for Trans Madeira. Did you guys fly in one day before the race? How long was your flight for the US? Thanks!

@@sydandmacky great info.. I was just checking their flight from NY.
Big Thanks. More power to your channel.
what travel are your bikes in this race very curious
Syd is there road bike tyres thats 2.5 wide for mtb
XT lever blades are way too fragile. Shimano take note. I run my l lever clamps loose and this still happens.
im thinking of getting a new bike as i would like to take on these types of tracks the bike im thinking of getting is an orbea ouiz h30 in any ones opinion is that bike able to take this sort of punishment ?
