    About David Bowie:
    David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

    One of my favourite videos of his. A loving tribute to mid-20th century neo-noir and science fiction. Bowie walking along the corridor as the men rise from their seats is lifted from a scene in Orson Welles' adaptation of The Trial. Bowie being interrogated surrounded by microphones as Lemmy Caution is in Alphaville. The torture scene is straight from Chris Marker's short film La Jetée. The women with the microscopes are modelled after the Pan Am stewardesses in 2001. Also Bowie lying on the crushed car towards the end of the video refers to the famous photo of Evelyn McHale, who ended her life jumping off the Empire State Building in 1947. What else have I missed?

      Radio play of Bowie is awful, its the same on every station, the obvious hits like let's dance etc. You never hear the likes of Jump they say, Little wonder, everyone says hi etc! Why? I've never understood it!

    • @acchaladka
      @acchaladka 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I find most of his 90s stuff very 'nineties' and less iconoclastic than his earlier work creating new genres and then of course his last. His videos break ground and i do love this one song but, i kind of get it in the case of this period. No disrespect, he's obviously a tremendous artist regardless of opinion.

    • @bengejuknowit3048
      @bengejuknowit3048 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@acchaladka the thing is, you still get (kind of naff) 90s tracks played by other artists on the radio which weren't necessarily high charted singles but Jump They Say was a top 10 charter by a huge artist! So why isn't it played on the radio alongside his other hits?

    This song is the reason I've changed careers. The desire to do something good and that I love out weights unhealthy societal expectations to fall in line. I've been there and was left feeling miserable with no purpose. Having a work and life balance and being able to do good things for people outweigh impressing people that don't care about your well-being or anyone else's well being for that matter. Great video and great song.

    Una canción trágica (inspirada en parte por el suicidio del medio hermano de Bowie, Terry Burns, con quien irónicamente fue a ver un concierto de Cream en su juventud, de la cual viene la canción "I Feel Free" en el disco) Es muy interesante como Bowie siempre utilizaba la música para trabajar temas tan personales (y cuando la música no funcionaba, recurría a la pintura). Jump siempre ha sido mi canción favorita del álbum no solo por su genial instrumentación sino por el vídeo también. Este vídeo es fascinante, es como una mini película de ciencia ficción contada en unos minutos. También está lleno de referencias: la escena de Bowie tendido sobre el coche después de su caída es una representación de la icónica fotografía de Evelyn McHale titulada "The most beautiful suicide". Evelyn saltó desde el Empire State y cayó sobre un auto en una pose impresionante (sosteniendo su collar de perlas) Por otro lado, las escena en las que Bowie tiene los ojos cubiertos es una referencia a la película francesa "La Jetée" de 1962 (la cual fue realizada de una manera muy inusual, con fotografías) También hay referencias a "The Trial" de Orson Welles, basada en la obra de Franz Kafka. Las enfermeras también evocan 2001: Odisea del Espacio de Stanley Kubrick con sus uniformes. Es sorprendente todo lo que Bowie podía condensar en un solo vídeo, la profundidad de su trabajo realmente es admirable.

    Such a bloody great song. One of Bowie’s most underrated singles. (Also, sharp-suited, VR-embracing visionary to boot!)

    This is my favorite song from Black Tie, White Noise. Its also one of my favorite music videos from Bowie. So happy its remastered in HD.
    I hope you eventually do an HD version of 'Loving the Alien' music video as well. But hopefully the original nose bleed version. :)

    Disappointed. While it is an upgrade {as the previous upload was so dire}, sadly this is not true HD, so it really shouldn't be listed as such. Probably Bowie's greatest late period visual, this is in the Museum of Modern Art, and it should be available in the finest quality possible. í understand a true HD render may be tricky due to the high number of VFX deployed on this film, but í figured that something better than this upgrade could be possible?
