587 is still under restoration, we have been working on it since 2002! Hope to see her run again really soon!

UPDATE: Restoration work has been, for the time being, paused. Apparently, a court in Noblesville IN daftly evicted them. So now, the ITM has relocated to Logansport, whilst 587 is stored in Ravenna, awaiting her much-needed overhaul, which will be carried out by the Kentucky steam heritage corp once enough funds have been raised.

@@Milwaukeeroadfan in fact, work as far I can gather stopped pretty much in 2015, as evident by the lack of updates on progress past 2015. Also, 587 is sitting outside, with the only tarp being on the running gear, leaving the boiler, cab, tender, pilot and pony truck, 4th driver, boiler tubes and flues, and other components(cant say which specific components) exposed to the weather and elements allowing for rust to take place. If actions arent taken to prevent the rust and keep it out of weather (indoors in a climate controlled building preferably, but inside a building would be better than nothing) then it could experience severe damage and rust and lead to more money having to be spent to correct said issues. So the costs could rise if this isnt fixed and the engine put inside. Anyway, that's my 5 cents on it.~Joseph
As of current 587 was sold to the Kentucky steam program and will be restored after 2716 is done

587 and 2716 are both being restored to operational together by the Kentucky Steam Heritage Corp in the future from what I heard.

NKP #587, she was the star of the film 587 the Great Train Robbery. Although obviously she wasn't stolen by her former engineer and a couple of kids for preservation. Is there anyone else here who's seen that film?

I have been trying to ask if you guys were planning to make NKP 587 and this video definitely confirms it. I also have been trying to ask you guys if you also plan to make the B&O EM-1 Yellowstone and if you guys see the auxiliary tender of a steam locomotive as a part of it. I will also be honest, I was expecting that when you do make NKP 587, she would come with the ITM consist as well and with the 16RA tender.

Hey K&l Trainz, quick question how do you get all of the engines to blow their whistles in a doubleheader or tripleheader consist when the Trainz series normally restricts you to just the lead locomotive whistling. I have ask other people in other videos that reviewed your amazing content and have preformed these doubleheadings and all they say is, "maybe there is a rule that allows this", or " I really have no clue". You are basically the last resort for answers at this point since your the smartest of the bunch and you clearly know how to ride the rails. So is their a way you could make all the locomotives sing in those consist or is it just a scripted thing.
To be honest I was wondering the same thing. The only time I was able to blow the whistle on a second Steam Locomotive was when I had Frisco 1522 and Nickle Plate Road 765 doubleheading. They both had separate drivers and I was only able to blow the secondary whistle on 765.
ShadowSteel18 But it's just not fair that the people who make Trainz do not realize by this point in time as their franchise expands; they overlook key elements like this. The lead locomotive should not be the only locomotive to have its whistle be blown when there are two or three different steam engines in the same consist. There needs to be a rule or something about this because even though it's just a small detail that can go unnoticed, I can't just let this slide; I mean hey K&L Trainz has the privilege of accomplishing multiple whistles at the same time, we should be able to do the same.
I agree 100%. I have a ton of Steve's locomotives (K&L Trainz) and I sometimes pair them together for doubleheaders. Some of his locomotives (Like 765) have secondary whistles that can be triggered if there is another driver on the locomotive. However even with a second driver triggering the whistle on a second locomotive is impossible without another person on hand to help (i.e. multiplayer) and even then I am not sure if it is possible.
Just reverse the consist.

this is awesome I didn't know you were going to make the 587 (this was a surprise) and I know I ask if you could make other models (I don't mean to I know you have other projects to do) would you think of doing the rest of the engines from the original Norfolk southern steam program (since the 611 1218 4501 2716 1522 765 and now 587 are made) southern 630 and 722 savannah & Atlanta 750 Mississippian 77 Texas & pacific 610 Canadian pacific 2839 and 1238 Louisville & Nashville 152 Atlanta & west point 290 Tennessee valley 610 and possibly the flying Scotsmen (during the us tour if you could) I didn't include southern 6910 since it was only used on one excursion and was towed in dead and I don't know if sp 4449 was in the program or not I did the research (I'm keeping it eastern steam suggestions and since you said there's a model of it already made by someone else) and other ones I thought of were Lehigh Valley Coal Company 126 Milwaukee road 261 reading & northern 425 soo line 1003 and 2719 and maybe great Smokey mountains railroad 1702 I don't mean to bother about saying this I thought these could make good add-ons with all your other great work it's all just amazing again don't mean to bother you with that
TrainMan 555 611, 2716, 1218, 4501, and 765 he has already done, 630 and 722 are in the queue, a fabulous 2839 already exists, 750 already exists as freeware, a little older, but just fine, and 610 exists as pay ware, as for 77 that was an irregular performer.

Nope. I've edited my assets where I can do super short toots. Doesn't allow for longer toots. But for the video, it's what I needed
