    I just got into the hobby and have some sky blue velvet bois and girls. Just got my bacter in the mail today I had been doing flake food before but was looking to get a more natural method of feeding set up for my buds. I also used a way small dose but in my 2.6 gal. tank I did tooooooo much according to this video. I'm making a ton of rookie mistakes but your streams are helping me become the best shrimp daddy possible. Keep it up man! I can't wait to have a place where I can put multiple tanks.

    Hey Mark , I noticed a lot of foam bubble build up on the top of my tank walls after feeding bacter ae to my shrimp tanks. I was feeding half a scoop total to 4 10 gallon tanks every 3 days. So 1/2 scoop for 40 gallons of water. Is the Bacter AE the suspect to my foam bubble buildup problem? Did i feed too much? Thanks

    I currently use SL Aqua Magic powder. I had heard claims Bacterial AE removes oxygen from the tank and Magic Powder does not. I chose it because I do not run an air pump and only an over the back filter for oxygen exchange. Is there a reason you use Bacteria AE? Have you tried Magic powder? Just curious I tried searching your videos for any mention of this product. Thanks Mark :-)

    Mark, Good afternoon. I'm new to Shrimp keeping and love all your video's. I have (2) 10 gal planted tanks for Cherry shrimps. I have all my water parameter set up, sponge filters and biofilm growing on Cholla wood, glass and rocks. Going to put 10 shrimp per tank to start off. Just have a simple question. Mark, can you help me please; Ive found a Damselfly nymph in my tank, pure white (not sure if that’s relevant) about 1.5cm long. What can I do? My hospital tank doesnt arrive until Tuesday & even with that, I’m going to have to do a fast cycle on that using chemical assistance to get everyone out of this infected tank & into a suitable temporary home. I stupidly added new plants directly to my tank 2 weeks ago - trusted supplier so I wasn’t worrying - must be where it came from. Any kill tactics you can offer would be much appreciated

    • @korzer
      @korzer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Angie MacLean get your shrimp out into another tank asap, dont move any ornaments plants etc, those nymphs are fearsome predators and will wipe your shrimp out, there could be dozens of them potentially still on plants as eggs or born already as larvae.

    Thanks for the info on bacter AE, i followed the instructions and in 2 days had slight reading of nitrites and over 160-200 ppm nitrates from 1 dose, the idea was to feed 2 or 3 times a week, i, m glad i checked the tank, first with a 6 in 1 test strip( i use the tetra test for quick testing) then when i saw the results did the drops test. Is it bad to mix with water then add with a syringe rather than tipping in, mine floats for ages if i tip it in off the spoon.

I have a community tank with Lemon Tetras, Cherry Barbs and Rummy nose. I have four Amanos and just added 10 Red Cherry Shrimp although at most I have seen only four at the same time after two weeks. I have now got some baby shrimp food as a sample together with Bactor AE, also a sample. My tank is 105 litres but say 95 taking into account the plants and hardware so, my question is, how much of which should I be using and how often? I would very much appreciate your advice. This is good to know. My tank is the same size and I'm going to get some Bacter AE. Good to know that dose works for you. 2 females are berried in the last 48 hours. I've been feeding a mix of Shrimp King pellets so far. They hate the colour one and don't seem interested in the snow pops, so I've just been feeding the complete, protein and mineral ones so far. It's a well established tank (about 18 months old), so it had plenty of biofilm and some algae. They've been in about a month now though and with babies hopefully on the way in a few weeks, I thought I could do with boosting the biofilm. I'd heard horror stories about following the dosage on the packaging, which is one of the reasons I've held off getting it. Someone mentioned they use a toothpick to dose it, which made me panic about just how much is too much. This has been so helpful to visualise. I know what size half a grain of rice is. So pleased it's working well for you now.

    What about montmorillonite? I've not seen any info on how much to use in an established tank... seems to be a black topic

      I always forget to add it, I use a tiny 0.2gram spoon in 60 liters of water.. flat level spoon too.

      yeap plus solid foods, feeding shrimp is very much a every tank is different type of deal, some tanks I go 2-3 days without feeding and others get a couple of large algae tabs per day.
