honestly, if you rearranged the positioning and had Wazir defending Saladin at the start and allow Phillip to kill Rat then I think they could take him down. Then I think Wazir's defense would allow them to compete a lot more.
As weve seen on other material, European Lords work beter with more gold on the start. Also Wazir has much stronger defence than Phillip, he should be against Saladin - it took a while to kill him, and Phillip would be able to stomp Rat. But with this settings I think only duo witch can take down Saladin is Nizar+Abbot.

I don't think strong AI castles should be nerved but rather weaker castles should be buffed

I figured out it can be changed by pressing the plus and minus buttons. It's probably the patch its doing if Vulcanx says so

and then we can see late game hits to Saladin's economy while the Wazir is taking all the brunt of the force allowing Phillip to thrive
