Greetings from Florida....glad Your off Metformin 👌 Major recall today on Metformin...batch numbers are online if You know anyone using it 😢 I Luv Berberine ....and Dr. Informed me to take it with a Lil coconut oil 👌 Also, okra naturally stabilizes sugar levels...be careful cause it contains oxalates which increase kidney stone issues 😢The good news is it can be eaten safely by also eating a Lil calcium foods 👌 the oxalates will bind to the calcium and assimilate in your body with No oxalate issues 😊 Natural medicine is a passion of mine ❤
I've been researching this supplement for the past day and everything sounds quite good and promising until I started watching this video lol! I had tried metformin years ago and wasn't very happy with that.
The biggest thing I’ve seen so far with Berberine is I have ZERO appetite. I just started it this week and I’m amazed at how good I feel and how there is NO food noise whatsoever. I wish I knew about Berberine years ago!
As someone that deals with PCOS and PMDD, berberine has improved my overall symptoms. I also take ovasitol, fish oil, zinc and copper, and beef liver. Exercise and diet still didnt fix my blood sugar till I added berberine!
I had a heart attack on May 30th 2022. I acted quickly, getting to the hospital ASAP. I got 2 heart stents, and was then placed on Atorvastatin. Over the course of the next year I had blood work showing the effectiveness of that medication on my blood lipid panel. But I was having side effects of the Atorvastatin. Telling my doctor what I had chosen to do, I stopped taking the Atorvastatin and started taking Berberine. I have had a complete blood panel since then. My cholesterol is down, my HDL is up, my weight is down, and I no longer have loose stools that the Atorvastatin was causing. I should add that I requested a Lipid Panel showing the VLDL, not just the usual screening. My VLDL is 13 (normal range is 5 to 40). I don't have a previous reading on that to compare, but I will see how future labs compare to this. PS. Because Berberine is a natural product, and can not be patented, who is going to produce the studies on it?
With no other changes to my diet or exercise routine, taking 500mg of Berberine HCL daily has lowered my systolic BP by 10 mmHg. This allowed me to get off of Diltiazem since now my BP is 116/67 (it was getting too low while still taking it). Obviously, this is just my anecdotal experience.
Same! I was on 4 pills different kinds every day. I eat keto and take this every day and I’m on 1 pill now. I hope to get off it too but wonder about liver problems if being on it for a while.
@@Marmeeseven Some people recommend cycling it. So you take it for a month and then cycle off for a period of time. Maybe on the off-cycle monitor your symptoms to see when numbers start reverting then go back on cycle. But herein lies the problem. No organization is going to do research to find out the proper protocol because it won't end up proving a patented drug that they can make money off of.
So many are unaware of that researchers are paid enormous amounts of money for a study to conclude as they wish when they need to promote a new drug. It's facts, there are whistleblowers everywhere. None of this is conspiracy anymore.
I can only testify for myself, I monitor my Bld sugar and I’m DM2, I have been able to replace my metformin completely with Berberine with fewer side effects and I’m dropping weight. 🤷🏻♀️ working great for me.
I've been using it for 3 months, not to loose weight even though I lost 10 lbs but it helps my blood sugar and my IBS is literally gone. No more gas and bloading, and regular bowel movements every morning. I am going to keep taking it even though its making me loose too much weight, don't like being too skinny either.
@@sexygabby30 You may have to change your diet first. Stop eating grains, seed oils and anything with added sugar. Look into eating Keto or Ketovore. If you're a vegetarian or vegan you'll always have IBS. Stop eating the foods that cause your IBS in the first place. Hope this helps.
I've been taking berberine for 6 months with no issues. My cholesterol is down by 15%. My A1C is down from 5.8 to 4.8. but I'm doing ketovore as close to zero cards as possible.... It’s great that you are benefiting from supplements, but I do not purchase from thorn because of “other ingredients“. If they are not beneficial or neutral, they are harmful and silicon dioxide is one of their regular additives. Instead, I purchase brand names like Paradise and Pure supplements Which provide all the good ingredients without any additives whatsoever except for the capsule, which cannot be helped. Try the brands mentioned, save money and get away from additives in Thorne.
You are correct about Americans losing faith in traditional medicine. I have so many friends who have severely damaged organs from overprescribing medication.
I was diagnosed with type 2 in June of 2023. Took metformin for 2 months and after self study I switched to berberine. A friend of mine is a holistic doctor so I went to him. I also radically changed my diet. As of February 1, 2024, I’ve lost 50 pounds and my A1c went from almost 12 to 5.2. At the age of 65 I feel better than when I was 40. I give credit to God, diet, and berberine. Every diabetic I’ve known went from metformin to kidney damage to dialysis. No thank you.
Important detail: When a study is being done, if the person(s) or organization running the study also would profit from an outcome, that outcome will tend to be one derived. Also, thanks for spreading the message about exercise.
Absolutely Love the way you guys promote healthy living. While at the same time advise against believing every Video or Social Media post out there literally yelling at you, to buy their product, or link to any certain product, without a Medical Doctor's assessment/supervision. Keep up the great work, Docs.
I was taking 2,000 miligrams of metformin per day. I’ve been using Berberine for a month now and my sugar levels are steady close to 100 when with the metformin no matter the diet, it was always around 115 in the mornings. Now I am talking 1,000 miligrams of berberine twice a day and my metformin is less than half at 750 per day. I am phasing out the metformin little by little always watching what I eat and checking my blood levels. One thing I found is that even if I cheat once in a while with a sugar pastry early in the evening I still have my sugar level at 103-105 in the morning. With the metformin alone before berberine, if I cheated my sugar level the next day was at 127 even 135 once. I am not saying this is a miracle pill, I am sharing my experience after just one month.
❤ thank you so much this has been my experience as well even with cheating a little bit with sugar I'm still having great bowel movements and I'm feeling much better but I'm going to keep using it thank you for your comment🎉
Glad you mentioned portion control. Brits /europeans visiting the USA are astounded at restaurant portion sizes. Typically enough for two, but if that’s what’s normalised it will set up the wrong expectations of what a meal size should be.
Obviously you aren’t an American. We like leftovers. I think we’re very thrifty and like to make two meals out of one. Don’t knock what you clearly don’t understand.

I have taken 500mg Berberine twice so far over two days with the midday meal and I already lost all over the top cravings for food and could reduce my afternoon meal by about two thirds on both days while feeling great. Not placebo as I did not expect any effect for weeks. Oh, and it also got rid of my evening pruritus already which might have been caused by high blood sugar. So far it also has dramatically reduced my existing bloating.
That is awesome! I am wanting to start taking Berberine and Red Yeast Rice to lower BP, glucose and cholesterol, however I am having a hard time deciding which brand to purchase. Can you tell me what brand of the Berberine you are taking? Thank you.

@@susanb4213 I am still taking it and my hunger has so far returned to about 2/3 of before. I still don't get problems when I eat something very sugary in large quantities as I did before. Those still make me flare up with inflammation and itches. Overall I am very happy to add this supplement to my stack permanently.
Berberine and Dihydroberberine have been very helpful to me as a tool in my weight loss plan. I don't want to take Ozempic for multiple reasons, the expense being one.

I have just started taking this as my glucose levels are high showing I have prediabetes. Diabetes runs in my family with my mum, grandmother and aunt all being diabetic. I think a lot of people are losing faith in the big pharma's. Great episode. x
There may be a diabetes predisposition in your family, but each generation teaches the last what to eat and how to behave… Repeating the diet of past generations is a big problem when it is not a healthy diet.
I am taking Berberine 500mg twice a day. Now no more diabetic medication. A1c is 6.0. But I do intermittent fasting 16:8 and cut Carbs as much as I can.
Portion control and everything in moderation? Carbs and sugar in moderation? Are you serious? I was on Metformin and statins for twelve years, struggling with type 2 diabetes and cholesterol issues, until I woke up and found doctors, like Berg, Berry, Ekberg, Bosworth Fung Gundry and many more that helped me get off these meds. My A1C was 5.1 and my cholesterol 148 and l went down from 165bs to 147 lbs. by eating few veggies and lots of fat and taking berberine. Keto diet, or I like to call it BBBE diet. (Beef, bacon, butter and eggs). I've learned more on TH-cam in two months than I've learned from my health providers in years. I also like to add, I fired my cardiologist who tried to convince me to take statins after he saw my cholesterol results. (148) Maybe pharma promised him a Mersedes or a nice vacation if he pushed more statins. This goes on a lot between docs and pharmaceutical companies. Be careful folks, it's a jungle out there. Doctors will eat you alive for profit.
So no sugar and avoid refined carbs. But if that list of chiropractors and other doctors is your go to source of info our channel clearly isn't for you. the glycemic index and load numbers show that complex carbs and whole grain are not all that they were hyped to be. Regardless, still better to eat a whole potato than processed flour/sugar/grains/etc.

As someone in a family of doctors, I know that their careers depend on watching carefully that what they say is approved by organizations who are bonded at the hip to pharma companies. I long for the day when doctors once again are independent.
Good for you for addressing the quality of studies and how poorly the supplement industry is regulated. So many studies can be conducted to get a specific result that they want and some studies are poor.

Not being regulated means there are standard or mandates for testing or quality, such as, whether or not what they say is in the pill actually is. But hey, if you don’t want any assurances that what you pay for and put in your mouth is what you expect it to be, then go for it. And if you are so down on the medical community, i trust you will stay out of the ER if one of your unregulated cure-alls turns out to be just the opposite. I’ll take regulated healthcare, meds, and supplements any day of the year to the alternative. Also perhaps you should find another MD if all they tell you about is the diarrhea and leave out the other stuff.
🌈Try Dr. Alan Mandell aka motivationaldoc, Dr. Eric Berg and the nerve doctors for great advice on nutrition and how to deal with neuropathy, diabetes, and more. Realize, many healthy alternatives to big Pharma medications do not get studied or are minimally studied because they cannot claim a patent on a natural product and make lots of money. The a MA (American medical Association) does not teach their doctors how to resolve health issues with diet. Instead, they want to write prescriptions or perform surgeries. The AMA is in the business to make money, not help you with your health. Guaranteed lifetime customers of medications are their goals. It’s how they were educated.

I have been using this for 2 months now and I am taking it for swelling due to my hypothyroidism n fibromyalgia, I haven’t weighed myself bcz my thyroid issue made me gain 50lbs in less than a year so I get depressed when I see another pound gained but this week I had 3 ppl ask me if I’m slimming down and also asked what am I doing to lose weight. So I guess it’s working. I have noticed a lot of my swelling has gotten better and I can move freely now. I buy mine at Sprouts Farmers Market and the brand is Life Seasons Essentials 1000mg. Haven’t had any side effects and it’s been working great for me. I’m not dieting or exercising and I feel the difference.
Its nice to see medical professionals with such happy and bright affects. I have watched another well-known physician discuss berberine. I am on the fence and will look again at the studies he examined. I will also look at high- grade supplements here in the 🇺🇸.
It’s a very weak activator of AmpK. Metformin activates it better but a lot of folks have terrible side effects. Berberine works but you need to combine it with Chromium and Ceylon Cinnamon. It kept my sugars down.
If you’re currently taking medication be careful mixing with unregulated supplements. There may be some interactions whether as an agonist or antagonist. Always give your physician a complete medication list that includes over the counter medications.
I am so skeptical about any non-regulated supplements - even multivitamins - you don't really know what's in that supplement or the proper dose - interactions - etc.
I’m pre-Diabetic and have been on Metformin for some time now. I was considering Berberine. I needed to hear this video. Thanks! It gave me a lot to think about.(pretty sure I’ll continue the Metformin)

.. ive looked into Berberine and decided giving a try after being diagnosed with macular edema.. never controlled my sugars for ten years.. metformin giving me side affects.. i told myself i have no choice but to now take metformin to help with the sugars being over 200 daily.. i began Keto and Intermittent fasting a couple of years before the pandemic and was able to reverse my diabetes.. but then i began drinking.. was still intermittent fasting and doing one meal a day.. at times no more than two meals a day.. i stuck to it then recently gave up drinking in December because of an upper respiratory infection that would allow me to sleep for over a week from coughing in bed non stop.. lost my voice for weeks.. i started eating less junk one during week limiting to my days off only but only one meal a day.. A1C was around 11 in December and recently now at 8.6.. ive strictly omitted carbs and went ketovore.. every now and then ill have some non starchy vegetables and was able to drop at least 15lbs now.. sugars are in control and decided to take Berberine instead of Metformin.. it significantly helped with bringing sugars down.. weight?.. not too sure about.. since i know Keto and Intermittent Fasting worked for me in dropping weight.. it was also said Metformin can deplete your B1.. Berberine is more natural without the extra side affects.. it works for me..

What instruments do you use? Have you started a surgery and had to alter or stop for some reason? What do you do if you feel a sneeze coming on? Is a very muscular person harder to work on? Are you drained after a surgery or is it just part of your day? Have you every 'lost' anyone? (You don't have to answer that!). Do you actually say, 'Nurse, the scalpel'? Are you quiet as you operate or do you chat and joke? Have you had a nurse faint? Have you ever left anything inside someone? (Don't answer that either!) How many operations do you do in one day? Are your wives in the profession? Thank you, and good night!
The medical institutions we have in Canada are very good with highly trained professionals, but where it falls down is the heavy reliance on pharmaceuticals. Ozempic is booming due to the pushing of the drug for weight loss. This in itself is a quick fix and I’ve known two people that have lost significant weight using it. However they are both obviously losing lean mass in addition to fat. Dr Attia has done some studies that have indicated this. Long term implications are not yet known, but one could guess higher incidents of fractures could happen to people as the age as a result of ozempic Eat whole foods, eat less and move more it’s not fast or easy, but it does work

I have lost 35 pounds and I am going to keep at it until I lose another 30 pounds which will put me at my weight when I joined the US Army in 1982. I started this diet because I am getting older and I have a son in college still. I decided it was time to get back control of my weight and perhaps gain some more years with my family. It works for me and when I stop taking it, I get hungry much easier and find myself thinking more about eating. I recommend it to a lot of folks along with a low carb diet.
One caveat, Berberine traditionally (for millennia), was used safely for transient digestive conditions like diarrhea, not for lifelong chronic usage. The safety profile for long term use has not been established and it can accumulate in the tissues where unintended side effects (neurological) may develop. Claiming it's safe just because it has been used in a different way historically does not mean its safe, especially with people taking megadoses daily.

I've taken Berberine for the last 5 months. I have lost about 6 lbs and my A1C went down
from 5.8 to 5.6. I will continue to take. My goal was to reduce my A1C.
Pretty good so far!
Have you had any side effects? Sounds like you're on a roll with this! I'm having stomach issues.
@@SheenaRea I had stomach upset initially so I broke up the single dose into multiple smaller ones and have been perfectly fine since.
Do you take it before meals? E.g. 30 mins before?
So you've lost 6 lbs in 5 months ?? Hmmm... interesting or did you mean that you lost 6 lbs in a week or 1 month??
I have been taking Berberine for over a year. It has worked much better for me than Metformin. Too may stomach issues with Metformin.

Same, been taking it for 2 weeks and my appetite is very low. Enough of a benefit to stay on it.
Just started today and I'm hoping for the same results
Which one you use?
Has there been anyone dying or getting kidney failure from it because any weight loss remedios always have severe side effects?
THAT would be the same effect as Ozempic or these other drugs: low or no appetite. Sounds good to me!
What is your berberine dose?
@@gsp1634 500 mg twice a day.
Lots of studies has been done on Berberine
Congratulations to you and your health. I know your feeling very wonderful ❤

Americans are losing faith in conventional medicine. Traditional medicine considers age-old wisdom including herbs such as those making up berberine.
I had problems with gas since I got hospitalized with H. Pylori three years ago but since taking berberine last it went back to normal.

Thanks for the great feedback!
And we appreciate your experience. Thanks for sharing.

Also perhaps you should find another MD if all they tell you about is the diarrhea and leave out the other stuff.

.. ive looked into Berberine and decided giving a try after being diagnosed with macular edema.. never controlled my sugars for ten years.. metformin giving me side affects.. i told myself i have no choice but to now take metformin to help with the sugars being over 200 daily.. i began Keto and Intermittent fasting a couple of years before the pandemic and was able to reverse my diabetes.. but then i began drinking.. was still intermittent fasting and doing one meal a day.. at times no more than two meals a day.. i stuck to it then recently gave up drinking in December because of an upper respiratory infection that would allow me to sleep for over a week from coughing in bed non stop.. lost my voice for weeks.. i started eating less junk one during week limiting to my days off only but only one meal a day..
Best of luck
No weight loss, but I am close to no longer being diabetic. A1C at 5.7. Got it down from being 12.
Agree with most of your coments, just one note: all side efects that you mentioned referring to berberine, are exactly the same side effects that people get from metformin. Hence, no difference here.
I look forward to your vlogs and puns. You channel is both educational and witty. A nice combo! 😆😄
Thanks. Doing our best.
Ya hit the nail on the head at 2:45 ..... Keto/carnivore/animal based diet truths.
Animal based here for almost 2 years - dropped 76lbs and dissolved many health issues. Pre-diabetic - IBS - anxiety - depression and arthritic ...now below my highschool weight and at 53yrs old, I am nearly sportin a six pack abs without working out - other than walking.
I have never heard of Berberine until the vids of the va x spike protein issues and Berberine was one of the natural pills to help minimize the side effects of the va x
I take Metamucil - sugar free - and apple cider vinegar before meals and eat one meal a day, and i'm losing a few lbs. My blood sugar was creeping up so will be interested to see this fall when i go for my annual medical to see if things have improved for the better.
Make sure with Metamucil you drink sufficient water! We used to use it widely in healthcare but patients didn't take in enough water, and Metamucil would form gel plugs in the GI tract. So hydrate.
thank you for this @@joywebster2678
@@joywebster2678 yeah drink lots of water after, just like when you don’t stir it we’ll you can see the Metamucil in your glass look like a paste which is exactly like it is your gut, a thick paste.
Lots of anecdotal evidence, including with my wife and myself. Quite remarkable product. Make sure it's HCL 20%+. Good video docs with sound advice. Thank you.
thanks for your post - can you explain what HCL 20%+ means, so i know what to look for when buying it, thanks.
Docs - I would be very interested if you ever did a video on the general arrangements for a surgery. A gazillion questions.
Do you have the same team, or whoever is available, and who/how many do you need? Do you all meet beforehand? In an emergency, what is the least number of people you could use - anaesthetist and surgeon? Does the whole operating room need sterilising? What equipment do you need as standard?
What do you think of Red Yeast Rice to help lower Cholesterol?
The medical institutions we have in Canada are very good with highly trained professionals, but where it falls down is the heavy reliance on pharmaceuticals. Ozempic is booming due to the pushing of the drug for weight loss. This in itself is a quick fix and I’ve known two people that have lost significant weight using it. However they are both obviously losing lean mass in addition to fat. Dr Attia has done some studies that have indicated this. Long term implications are not yet known, but one could guess higher incidents of fractures could happen to people as the age as a result of ozempic
Eat whole foods, eat less and move more it’s not fast or easy, but it does work
Yes the lean body mass loss is a very real issue. Need resistance training added
Some of us are not looking for life hacks we are trying to survive in spite of allopathic medicine
I love you guys! Thank you for posting these informative videos, being on point and fun.

It's not so much what the FDA rejects that concerns me - it's what they endorse, accept, and pass that's scary.
I pretty much do the opposite of what the FDA says. The government took nac off the market during Covid because it was reported that it helped
@@gardengirl9099: Like many other things, the FDA was a wonderful idea way back in the beginning, but like everything else, the Federal Government runs it into the ground, strips it of all its gold, and leaves nothing but rust in its place. The FDA is just one of a dozen alphabet agencies that have outlived their usefulness.
It’s which ever company pays them the most. Corrupt as hell.
@@annieann99: Things were fine when they were just "corrupt as hell," but the longer they dance with the Devil, the more they create Hell on Earth.
Been on berberine for 3 years A1c is 5.3 constantly blood work done every 3 months. I never leave home without it, weight started falling off after 1 year of use.
Very nice
I started taking 400 mg with MCT oil (NOW) for insulin resistance. I’m not diabetic but did abuse my body with a Coca-Cola addiction for years. Been off sodas for years now but was left with insulin resistance & high blood pressure. My blood pressure has come down & I’m hoping my insulin resistance will improve over time. I do watch what I eat & exercise take other vitamins bc I know it’s whole body care.
Best of luck!
Donating plasma will lower your blood pressure
I started on Berberine to see if it would help me lose weight along with a change in diet. I take it in the morning and I don't get hungry at all and I had to actually force myself to eat sometimes.

How about a talk on Collagen. There a various types. Does it work? Have there been studies?
