  • as requested by a few people I film a step by step tutorial for anyone wanting to install hinges on a rear drawers to access where the 3rd row seats used to sit. I have maxi trac drawers from repco that cost $400 and the gas struts costed $100 so it's a cheap easy install to increase storage.

    In the video it's not very clear on the gas struts but they are capable for 1000N but are currently gassed to 676N and that is able to lift the drawers and fridge with ease

    Brett (DenMonkey) sent me here. That's a cool setup on your drawers. A a small padbolt like for a gate would work well to lock it In but might rattle a bit. I'm yet to put any money n back of my Paj. I have the factory Sub woofer and the Kaon rear shelf so not sure if a fridge will fit with that and a draw unit.

    Great job and well done on the vid.. maybe a spring loaded gate latch on the drivers side (mounted to the body of the vehicle, with the pin going back towards the drawers) would work for your locking mech?

    Pinnacle 95mm Stainless Steel Adjustable Toggle Latch from bunnings
    or a Syneco 130-145mm Polished Adjustable Toggle Latch also from bunnings
    there are all different sizes to choose from but you could clip it down with the option to
    lock it for extra security let me know if you would like more info or help

    Hey Bia, Nice work on the struts and love that you don’t mind hacking into the car when the need arises. Done it to my 2010 NT with 520k k’s plenty and never had any issues. Love the black window surrounds. I’ve painted my back door upper black but now want to paint the window surrounds after seeing yours. They get scratched a bit but nuthin a can of Rustoleum flat black can’t fix. Look forward to the walk around too. Cheers, Adam. 👍🏼💪

    Wondering what your reason was going for the MaxiTrac drawers?
    Reason I ask is because I'm obsessing over weights while planning a setup.. I was dead set on XTM drawers until I came across these which claim to be aluminum construction and 22kg for a 1300mm drawer (44kg for both drawers).
    Comparatively XTM are steel construction at 31kg each, or 62kg for a pair of 1200mm.
    Although your drawers are obviously not the 1300mm version do you know what they weighed in at?

    • @bia4x4
      @bia4x4  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In all honesty I was about to buy the XTM drawers but I seen on the repco page the maxi trac ones and took a risk buying them as I haven't seen any reviews done on them, the main reason why I bought them is that they were a bit cheaper which I know it's never the best to buy the cheaper option but I thought I would give it a try, and it's a little more in my price range and kinda liked the look of them more. As for weight, I had titan drawers in originally that weighted 71kg and I seen the maxi trac ones were 55kg I think that's just from what I've seen on the internet, For the dual set, so once I seen they were a fair chunck lighter I bought them.

    • @sky73x
      @sky73x 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bia4x4 Yeah awesome they sound like they are the pick for weight consideration. Titan drawers are definitely heaviest of all the offerings. Unfortunately there is no store stock and it's by order only to see them before buying. I think I'll take the gamble that the Maxi Trac are what they say they are for weight and lighter than XTM. Thanks heaps for the response!

    • @bia4x4
      @bia4x4  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sky73x all good 😁 I was a little sceptical of buying them as they didn't have them in stocks at my local store either but they said if I took it home and didn't like how they worked or if they didn't fit I could return them I was just very careful at first opening up the box incase I would return it, but I like them now

    Hi Bia. I've put my titan drawers on gas struts too. Have a look at the gate pad bolts I used to hold the drawers down. I also recommend right-angle brackets that rest against the side of the drawers to stop lateral movement and reduce twisting stress on the hinges:

    Hey Bia, loved the video. Couple of questions. What type, brand etc of angle brackets did you use in the rear? Are they threaded? And how did you decide on the gas pressure rather than using the full 1000k?

    • @bia4x4
      @bia4x4  ปีที่แล้ว

      The angle bracket were just normal builder brackets from bunnings the generic type(if u mean the bracket with the gas strut ball joint it was just one that came with the struts and none were threaded). I didn't use the full compacity of the struts as it's just suited to the weight that I carry and if I don't have the fridge on the drawers they can be heavy to push down. It's all personal preference on what u find handy but they're gassed to go up and down good with the weight I got in

      Hey the maxi trac drawers are doing really good haven't had any problems with them since installing them. For the price of them you can't beat it I wasn't sure how long they would last but can't fault them yet. And not it dosent rattle as long and u have it pinned down in some way either with a lock or tie down strap. Around town I don't have them tied down I only secure them when I'm going off road

      The Titan drawers aren't good quality, they bent and warped and each one of them the fridge slide lock fell out. Not that it's that hard for me to put a few more screws in, but frustrating that it happened more then 3 times. I've even been to rwdsuper center before and their drawer on display was broken. And since switching I havnt had any problems with my new ones
